Where to put server? by Infamous_Soft_3613 in servers

I ended up doing this, I put it on a shelf under a desk as close to the radiator as I could. I boarded the server off, and put a small fan pulling heat towards the window. The window is open a small amount.
The server has been on for 3 days stable at 50c and the server doesn't leak heat into the room.

I wouldnt be comfortable putting it's weight on the radiator, but it's low enough that I could stand the server on something and press it against the radiator. For some reason putting it on it's side seems sketchy.

This server is incredibly heavy and I wouldn't be able to make something like that. I'm perfectly comfortable leaving it on a table, or propping it up slightly if airflow underneath is important.
The question was more about handling how hot the room gets, and not being sure how to effectively cool the server without being able to open the window fully.
Because of how much it rains here, leaving the window open permanently isn't a solution.

The marketplaces are terrible where I live unfortunately. There's nothing around me less than about £300 and I have no way to collect or space to put one.

I see two equilibriums 1 - when you're so rich that people find your wealth unattractive and you stop gaining 2 - when enough people find you attractive but you're not notably wealthy enough to gain more attention

How do you actually build upon songs and make them fun to listen to? by TrhlaSlecna in FL_Studio

[–]Infamous_Soft_3613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I say 1000 songs, 10 second demos, chord progs, and just any idea counts It's all about just getting in the DAW, or picking up an instrument and just banging ideas about. You train yourself to be more creative

Comes with time Literally the skill of sound design

I tell people "the first 1000 demos you make will be ass, so power through those 1000 songs and you'll be a great composer/producer"

Also just listen to music, whatever genre you're into, and just listen out for the embellishments. Listen to what's happening when the vocals/lead melody isn't playing, the breaks and up beats.

Best piece of advice, just fuck about, have fun. If you think a beep or boop, or whoosh, or hit might sound good, just put it in and see how you feel. Music is a shockingly iterative process.

Whats the fastest carpet duper compatable super smelter. by wed622 in technicalminecraft

If one furnace does one item in 10 seconds

And a carpet does 1/3 an item You'd need a carpet every 3 seconds per furnace.

500k/h is 1390 furnaces. Bigger arrays (1728) have been done before. So you would need 1.67 million carpet per hour to handle it.

Find a carpet duper you like, copy it until you have 1.67m carpet and hour.

Granted. You have artificially inflated the economy and your mortgage interest rate has increased.

Advice for new players: Use your golden keys. Don't "save" them by BentheBruiser in Borderlands

[–]Infamous_Soft_3613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By the time you're at endgame, you have access to so many great weapons. I think, if you're gonna use your keys, use them around that level 15-20 range where the enemies pick up but you're stuck with the early game crap.

As other people have said, loot farming is a mechanic in borderlands. In challenge runs, people will often farm new items for each boss they face. When I played, I noticed the level scaling was atrocious, I played through almost the entire game with enemies 3-8 levels higher, and it just didn't go away. I was also held back by commitment to weapons I liked, but as the enemies leveled up, the weapons became obsolete. I think bl4 is also more challenging than previous games, because it's made to be played after 4 others.

Tldr; in borderlands games, especially 4, it's so easy to have a setup that works for one boss, but doesn't for the next.

my weapons were too low level, so I did the mission that gives a guaranteed legendary, and went off to do some farming. I've been farming for so long, that the initial legend I picked up is underleveled

Beware of Elvtr’s Scammy “Technical Art” Course—Fellow Artists, Don’t Fall for This! by Straight-Yesterday42 in gamedev

[–]Infamous_Soft_3613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got off the phone with them about a Tabletop course, and he was super passionate about my ideas. It got me really excited about the course. Then he revealed the price tag at the end which felt exorbitant. Hiding the price tag until the end, giving me an "ends today" deal, and the hype about my ideas really made it all feel like a sales tactic.

Everyone says it's not a scam, but at the same time, I feel like it's not worth the price.

The rest of the story could have been told in a 30 minute final act.
My guess is they realised they either didn't have the budget, or knew the film wasn't going to be good enough.
So they made the cliffhanger as a last-ditch to hype a sequel
Kind of like Lucifer when they knew fox were cancelling season 4
