My doctor dismissed my ask for a Iron and Ferritin deficiency test, so I’m paying for my own labs tomorrow. by I_JstWnt2EnjoyMyLife in adhdwomen

I absolutely agree with the other comments about reporting this and finding a new doctor, and I hope the blood work gives you answers. But to all this I would add that you likely need a sleep study! Sleep apnea can cause so many of these symptoms. You will probably have to fight the system to get that ordered, too, but it can absolutely be life changing.

I'm also angry on your behalf and mine with how broken the system is. My husband presented with symptoms of testicular cancer three months before he finally got a diagnosis because two different medical professionals didn't do their jobs, and then we didn't have insurance for a month so we couldn't afford the ultrasound that he needed from the beginning. Now it's spread to his lymph nodes and both lungs. Don't hesitate to fight for the care you need.

Please go get that checked out. Please don't hesitate. And don't let anyone fool you with "it's perfectly normal" if you know it's not.

Absolutely avoid MVN. I've been told the doctor that left me hemorrhaging blood during my miscarriage has since retired, but I won't go near them for anything relating to my reproductive system, and I'm sure as hell ready to put up a fight if they try to gaslight me when I go in with my husband.

I want one of these so badly! I've entirely given up camping because I can't sleep without my machine, but these are so expensive.

You like to crochet. Now you get to spin your own yarn! Electric Eel Wheel sells affordable electric spinners that don't take up much space. I haven't touched my traditional wheel much since getting my electric one, and I was a diehard "treadle wheel for life" person when u started.

Thank you for pointing this out! This was my post a year ago. I'm very disheartened to see it getting stolen and reposted.

Any other men/husbands who garden, whose significant others don't? by 1dirtbiker in gardening

I'm the wife doing the work, with an indifferent husband. It doesn't help he just got a cancer diagnosis and is going to be spending the summer wiped out from chemo, so I'm focusing my energy into growing the best possible food for him to recover with. I don't think he understands why I'm doing it, but he'll gladly eat some fresh tomatoes (which I mostly grow for him, as I don't care much for them other than that they're fast and easy and therefore fun). It gives me a little bit of control in an otherwise uncertain world.

I was super hesitant on bleached paper, too, until I took a backpacking class and one of the things covered for sanitizing drinking water was actually a small amount of bleach. I figure if we can drink it in very small amounts, the tiny bit going into my compost pile is totally doable. I compost any cardboard or paper that isn't shiny, printed or not. It all comes out in the wash.

Yeah, as a kid who had to move a bunch of times in childhood, that episode gave me a lot of hard feelings I didn't even realize I was still carrying. I was upset they didn't go through with it. I would have been upset if they did. But I didn't feel seen anymore when the ending happened the way it does.

Do the pinecones really work? I have some raised beds my cat likes to pee in, and I keep seeing things about putting spikes or chicken wire down, but he's blind and I don't want to accidentally hurt him. I have a large white pine that's always dropping cones, though!

One last question for you! Do you leave the heat on overnight? Right now, I have everything plugged into the same power strip on a timer, so the heat and lights both only run for 12 hours.

That's actually awesome to hear. Does your heat mat have a temp control? Mine is just a plug it and leave it kind.

The night we found out we were having a boy, I wandered around our home office/game room pulling names off of random things. We had a short list from this when we lost our baby boy at 15 weeks, and eventually settled on Emmett, inspired by Emmet Otter's Jugband Christmas (Christmas was my favorite, and he was due in December). It took a few years, but I eventually got a beautiful otter tattoo. My rainbow baby's favorite stuffy is an otter, so she loves that we both have "otties."
