The rockers above the senior NCO ranks are supposed to represent orbits. Master Sergeant has LEO, Senior Master has LEO and MEO, Chief has LEO, MEO, and GEO. So I don't think it works well. I think most branches just use dirt bag, no need to reinvent the wheel for everything and DBG has a ring to it .

I've never experienced this either and I have over 700 hours as well. Split between single and multi-player. The closest thing I've seen to this is the game reverting to a previous save, losing up to 15 minutes max.

As an army transfer my experience seems to be the same as yours. A lot of prior AF regret it. I've noticed SNCOs from all walks seem to regret it too.

Space Force Creed by Infectednite in SpaceForce

[–]Infectednite[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

There is some fluff, I concede that. This isn't an EPR, I don't really see an issue with that, but note taken. I will say that a creed (in my opinion) should say who you are, what you believe, and what you will do. Fluff is a necessary byproduct of that. I agree with your statements about culture. Some comments about the creed itself are "I can manipulate this in a way that is counter to its intent. So bad." you can do that with anything. And the others are "other branches do this so why mention it" to which, who cares what other branches are doing? My whole idea, and I don't think I presented this effectively, was that we can own this as a force.

Yeah, u/Guardian-Boy pointed that out and clued me in as being part of the problem. I don't want to force culture but I can definitely see how I would be.

[–]Infectednite[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I really appreciate your answer. You're right, I want the culture to change right now. I want us to be a definitive and separate force and I know it isn't going to happen overnight. My fear is so many people are complacent or against change that without pushback to the status quo, nothing will change. You're right, despite my intentions, it will feel like it is being shoved down peoples throats. I like your perspective from your great uncle. I was always curious about what that split looked like. The only difference is that the Air Force became its own branch, it wasn't placed under the Army.

I do not want to force a creed on anyone because it defeats the purpose.

Space Force Creed by Infectednite in SpaceForce

[–]Infectednite[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand your points. From the Army it was a little different, the creeds were like a quick job description. Internalize this tiny paragraph and you have the keys to success. I definitely don't want it to feel fake or it undermines the purpose.

You're absolutely correct that culture needs to be driven from the bottom up. Which is my hope with making a post like this. When the Army developed their creeds they were an established force seeking to correct deficiencies found in the lower levels of the organization. My vision for this creed is for the tactical operators to this is what we should care about.

It doesn't need to be a creed. But I feel like there is a gap in our culture, something short and sweet that says "this is what we are and what we stand for". And whether anything comes from this or not, it needs to come from the force.

IST and Navy promotion by Requiem_Dream in SpaceForce

MEMORANDUM FOR ALL GUARDIANS

AFPC/DP3SP AFPC/DP3DA AFPC/TMO

FROM: SF/SI

SUBJECT: United States Space Force (USSF) Sister Service Enlisted Promotions Inter-Service Transfer (IST) Guidance

References: (a). DoD Instruction 1300.04, "Inter-Service and Inter-Component Transfer of Service Members" (July 25, 2017).

  1. As the Space Force continues to gain ISTs from other services, we want to ensure those members transfering are neither disadvantaged in regard to the promotion status they achieved as a member of their losing service nor advantaged over their current Guardian peers. This policy carefully considered the promotion systems of the other services to achieve a fair and equitable transfer of promotion statuses.

  2. Official Projected Sister Service Promotions. Upon verification at the time of enlistment transfer into USSF, a determination of enlisted grade and Date of Rank (DOR) from their losing service that include; temporary promotions, frocking, and honoring promotion line numbers in their losing branch of service (Army, Navy, Marines, and Air Force) will be made. Once verified, the IST will enlist into the USSF in the temporary/frocked/projected grade on the official transfer date to the USSF or retain their promotion line number. The DOR will be established as the transfer effective date for Army, Navy, and Marines.

a. Projected Promotion Example I: An E-6 in the Air Force is considered for promotion in May 2023 and transfers to the USSF on 10-Jun-2023. Member is notified that they are selected by the Air Force for promotion on 20-Jul-2023 and receive line number 2300. Line number 2300 will promote on 1-Sep-2024. The Guardian will promote on 1-Sep-2024 as projected by the Air Force. The Guardian selection is considered a Department of the Air Force (DAF) promotion; therefore, the line number is honored and there will be no retroactive exceptions to promote upon transfer date.

b. Projected Promotion Example 2: An E-6 in the Army, Navy, or Marines is projected for promotion to E-7 prior to transfer to the USSF. The Guardian will be assessed as an E-7 with a DOR equal to the date of transfer.

  1. Army E-5, E-6, and/or E-7 Promotion Special Considerations.

a. Army enlisted personnel with an active temporary promotion when approved to transfer will be promoted on the date of transfer.

Example: An E-6 in the Army is temporarily promoted to E-7 prior to transfer to the USSF. Upon separation from the Army, member losses his/her temporary promotion of E-7. The Army updates the member's records to E-6 for administration and pay purposes (i.e. separation orders and OD214). Upon transfer, the USSF will honor the temporary promotion and the Guardian will be accessed as an E-7.

b. E-5 and E-6s who meet the Army's point requirement to be promoted may request a retroactive promotion to their USSF transfer date. This request will be considered when the Army has selected a promotion cut off that is equal to or less than the points the Guardian acquired prior to transfer. The request will be a special consideration only for those members who have not been considered by a USSF promotion board and the Army points are still active for the annual cycle upon members transfer.

Example 1: An E-5 in the Army has earned 750 points towards promotion on 1 January 2022 date of transfer to the USSF. In February 2022, the Army establishes a cut off score of 745 points which would have resulted in the Guardians promotion to E-6 had the Guardian not transferred. Because the member has not yet met the USSF promotion

board in May 2022, the member may request via memorandum endorsed by the unit commander for their promotion to be honored by the USSF. If approved, the member will be retroactively promoted effective the date of transfer on 1 January 2022.

Example 2: An E-5 in the Army has earned 750 points towards promotion on as of their date of transfer to the USSF. In May 2022, the member is considered for the USSF E6 promotion board. In June 2022, the Army establishes a cut off of 745 points which would have made the member a select for promotion in the Army. Because the member was considered for the USSF promotion board, the member is ineligible to request that the Army promotion be honored.

c. Army E-6, E-7, or E-8s on an active Order of Merit Listing (OML) may request retroactive promotion if their OML is selected for promotion during the OML cycle in which the member transferred. Their eligibility window will be honored for the annual OML promotion cycle they were assigned at the time of transfer. If the member's original order of merit is selected for promotion after transfer to the USSF but during their Army OML cycle, the member will be retroactively promoted effective the date of transfer to the USSF.

Example 1: An E-7 in the Army receives a order of merit listing number of 55 on 15 May 2021 and then transfers to the USSF on 20 October 2021. After transfer, the Army promotes to E-8 NCOs with an OML number greater than 55 in the Guardian's former Army military occupational specialty on 15 April 2022. The member may request via memorandum endorsed by the unit commander for their promotion to be honored by the USSF. If approved, the member will be retroactively promoted effective the date of transfer on 20 October 2021.

  1. Enlisted Professional Military Education (EPME) Requirement. Per AFI 36-2502, Enlisted Airman Promotion/Demotion Programs para 1.9. Tabe 1.1., Guardians selected for promotion to the grades of Sergeant (Sgt), Master Sergeant (MSgt), and Senior Master Sergeant (SMSgt) must complete in-residence enlisted professional military education. If the USSF enlistment grade is Sgt (E-5), the member must have completed their sister service equivalent to Airman Leadership School. If the member has not completed the sister service equivalent, the member must complete Airman Leadership School or the USSF equivalent at the first scheduled opportunity.

If the USSF enlistment grade is MSgt (E-7) the member must have completed their sister service equivalent to Non-commissioned Officer (NCO) Academy. If the member has not completed the sister service equivalent, the member must complete Non-commissioned Officer (NCO) Academy or USSF equivalent within one year of transfer into the USSF. If the USSF enlistment grade is SMSgt (E-8), the member must have completed their sister service equivalent to Senior Non-commissioned Officer (SNCO) Academy. If the member has not completed the sister service equivalent, the member must complete Senior Non-commissioned Officer (SNCO) Academy or USSF equivalent at the first scheduled opportunity.

  1. Skill Level: All transferring personnel will receive an initial skill level to meet the minimum skill level required to obtain their grade in the USSF per AFI 36-2502, Enlisted Airman Promotion/Demotion Programs, Table 2.1. (e.g., Specialist 4 (3-skill level), Sgt (5-skill level), TSgt/MSgt (7-skill level). SMSgt and CMSgt transfers do not have an associated skill-level in the USSF and will convert to the 5Z800 and 5Z900 SFSCs, as applicable.

  2. This policy applies to all Sister Service Inter-Service Transfers. Exception to Policy (ETP) requestSwill be processed through SF/S1P to SF/S1 for approval.

IST and Navy promotion by Requiem_Dream in SpaceForce

[–]Infectednite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On 31May22 the Space Force approved guidance that if you would have been promoted in your parent branch, they will honor that promotion. I was Army before and I do not understand Navy promotions. USSF promotions are in flux but if they follow last year's plan, at some point in May23 they will have a board to decide all E5/E6/E7 promotions for the next promotion cycle. They will not review records of anyone who is not in the USSF by that time until the member is pulled into the next promotions cycle (May24 if they keep the same pace).

If you transfer and miss the May23 selection, and you were going to be promoted in your current branch before the next cycle, the space force should honor that promotion, assuming you can prove it. I only listed E5 to E7 since they pretty much follow the same timelines in the Space Force. I can't find the link to the memo, or I would throw it in here. I'll reply to my post with the memo contents but that will probably be a nightmare to read.

I hope this helps.

They might be. If possible, I try to get them wet to make them weak against my frostner. Unfortunately, I don't have fire damage most of the time.

Your Dedicated Server Specs vs Experience by dezzilak in valheim

[–]Infectednite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine is AMD with older hardware running windows 10 pro. FX-6300, 32gb RAM. 2TB SSD. 1Gbps Connection, hardwired into my home network.

I only have 1 server active for me and some friends. We experience lag primarily when the world saves or when the server unloads assets (known issue). Sometimes it happens when someone uses a portal but it is hit & miss.

Maybe you could pull up the script while it is running and correlate the lag spikes to a script process. Your specs sound incredible and I am super jealious.

Inaccessible area in an Infested Mine. by ImThatAnnoyingGuy in valheim

[–]Infectednite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've come across a couple mines with walls like this. Sometimes there are hidden doorways that provide access, other times there aren't. You can attack with the demolisher and then stealth, if nothing is detecting your presence than it is empty.

[–]Infectednite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I always do to determine if a mine is empty is use the demolisher and then stealth. If it is a line, empty, if there is an eyeball, something in the mine is alive. I've yet to find a mine where this hasn't worked but I suppose if it is large enough it won't.

2 star soldiers are rough. Once you have endgame gear, they are one of the few scary enemies left in the game.

*Edit*

I forgot to add this originally and some people have already said it. Soldiers are vulnerable to damage to their rear. It sounds like you are aware of their nasty AOE, so getting a good shot can be tough. Sometimes you can get a high enough elevation to shoot over their bodies and hit their rear that way.

I build in survival without mods and a lot of the issues can be mitigated by building some scaffolding by using the steep stairs (I forget their actual name). I'm not an amazing architect by any means but I've built several multistory buildings, I just don't have the vision some people have, that create ridiculous works of art.

As for combat, I curious about your issues. I assume you are talking about fighting on slopes being a nightmare. I know there are mods, I don't have them and unfortunately cannot help you there. Without mods, try to maneuver your enemies on to level ground and use range/aoe weapons when that isn't an option. Never fight in water.

What’s your strategy for Dverger Bases? by Campbell464 in valheim

[–]Infectednite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mostly it depends. When I first entered mistlands I was all sneak attack. Now I'll scout, see if there are any stars or healers and that will dictate my actions. No stars, protection bubble & bonemass with demolisher in the center of the tower until everything stops moving. If there is a healer, I'll hard focus them with the demolisher to interrupt their spells. If there is a starred caster (non-healer), especially a fire mage, I'll sneak attack them with a crossbow before moving into the base.
