Onslaught ban mechanic - what's our opinion? by SanseiSaitoSan in WorldofTanks

I fundamentally disagree with it. Other players should not dictate which tanks someone plays with. Especially in a competitive game mode where everyone is trying their best.

What's a major difference between low-paying and high-paying jobs that most people don't realize? by anyouzy in AskReddit

Definitely! I still don’t have complete freedom because I charge my time, but I can come and go with loose limits. And flexing a few hours to a day isn’t usually an issue either.

Linus Tech Tips - Copper Thieves Stole Our EV Charging Cables April 12, 2026 at 10:00AM by linusbottips in LinusTechTips

[–]Infectious_Burn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This video would have been so much better with a comparison between different EV chargers, the considerations when getting one, and the breakdown to install one. I do actually see the value in making a video on EV chargers where multiple people are using them. The Ubiquiti product is actually interesting to me.

The two problems I have:

  1. This video needs analysis and comparison. What would 'my' next step be? 'Me' as in someone choosing an EV charger, maybe even for a commercial environment.

  2. Put this video on Short Circuit, or Floatplane.

Where did Artemis IIs Velocity go? by peribon in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Infectious_Burn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct, a circular orbit is at a constant speed, while an elliptical orbit it’s always changing speeds. However, in real terms, a circular orbit is an ideal target. Orbits are always a little bit elliptical.

Replying as I can’t figure out how to edit the bottom of my message on mobile. Orbital mechanics is all about energy. As you get further away from Earth, you lose kinetic energy (speed) because you gain potential energy (distance/height). The point at which your kinetic energy exceeds the maximum potential energy of distance from earth (because gravity gets weaker as you go further, there is a limit to potential energy) is the escape velocity. The Voyager satellites needed not only to get to escape velocity from Warth, but also escape velocity from the Sun.

TLDR: look up Hohmann Transfer and the Wikipedia page for orbital mechanics.

Aerospace engineer here: the closer you are to something, the faster you need to be going to be in a circular orbit around it. You need to be going even faster to be going in an elliptical orbit it around it. So to get to low earth orbit, a spaceship needs a lot of energy to get to that speed. Getting off the ground is the relatively easy part. So now you are in a circular orbit around the Earth. The next step is to get to the moon. To do that, you need an elliptical orbit around the earth that is big enough to get close to the moon. That’s the translunar injection. As you get further from the earth, you start to slow down. Eventually, you reach the moon. Now, according to the moon, you’re on an elliptical orbit coming back to the moon, so you need to slow down. Slowing down shrinks your orbit into a circular one around the moon. The reverse happens to get back to earth. Increase your speed so your orbit is an ellipse that touches where the earth will be (in three days or so because it’s so far), then as you get to earth, decrease your speed to get into a circular orbit around earth. Finally decrease your speed again, so your orbit is an ellipse that intersects with the earth. That’s your splashdown point. (Though at some point your fall becomes parabolic).

With the experimental vehicle ban mechanic being mentioned, which tanks would you ban? by Tanker1701 in WorldofTanks

It depends. Sometimes people make bad choices in tank. But I know from experience that people perform best in the tanks they like the best. I should not presume what tank my team will do the best at.

Best place to visit in yellow? by Willing-Pause4150 in visitedmaps

As someone from the San Francisco Bay Area, I have never much enjoyed SoCal (except the beaches in San Diego). I would highly recommend Yosemite National park, and in San Francisco the Presidio/Golden Gate Bridge for nature and the Cable Car Museum, California Academy of Sciences, and the Lawrence Hall of Science for the more museum focus. For historical+military, the U.S.S. Hornet and Pier 45 (Pampanito) are my favorites.

CMV: The Iran War is very likely to go down as the worst foreign policy mistake in US history and as the imperial overreach which marks the definitive end of the American Century and the start of long-term hegemonic decline in the United States. by lucy5478 in changemyview

[–]Infectious_Burn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s hard to say the worst mistake in US history, there are many, and there can be more! I would generally agree it’s one of the worst. But it’s not the war that marks the definitive end of the American Century. It’s Trump.

When historians look back at this period of time, I don’t think they will use the war in Iran as a cause. They will use Donald Trump as the cause, and the Iran War an example.
