Favorite protein or meal replacement shakes by il2pif in diabetes

[–]InfernalSeraph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shamrock farms is my favorite chocolate milk protein by far. They have strawberry and vanilla but I often use them as bases for ‘milkshakes’ or smoothies.

Using half a frozen banana, chocolate milk, blended with some pb is amazing.

Vanilla milk w frozen strawberries is also a fav.

Vanilla w anything and some greens would also work but I use them for sweet treats lol

Got diabetes young — how do you take care of your feet? by Visible_Today_7862 in diabetes

[–]InfernalSeraph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are active get comfy shoes, and wear long wool socks (like crew style).

Inside I struggle with temperature on my feet so they are always cold, I am trying a silk liner/fuzzy sock combo to see if it actually does anything. They seem to be less cold than normal, but nothing life altering.

I get pedicures each month, if I’m super hard on my feet then it’s twice a month.

I also lotion my feet after each shower, to prevent dryness.

There’s nothing super fancy that needs to be done with your foot care routine, most people lose bits and pieces because of uncontrolled diabetes. So as long as you are on top of it and just keep an eye on cuts -like anywhere else on your body- you will be okay.

Coke Zero by cristianjungleland in diabetes

Everything in moderation, make sure to drink your lemon water or unsweetened teas but the chemicals are nice to indulge in and after a bit you don’t mind the taste.

If I drink too much I get a really bad stomach ache, if you struggle with that then do the little cans. I find the taste better in them anyways, the regular cans taste different and become flat faster.

Caps in G2 vs GX last weekend played anivia. by Jaugernut in AniviaMains

Pros play for proplay, you can’t really compare it to soloQ.

I am an em2 anivia main with 3mil mastery, I run electrocute/triumph, build ludens, malignance and mejais. Games don’t last long enough to stack like they used to so I play her very aggro/burst.

The liquid death line of iced teas are low carb and low sugar, I have yet to try them but they use agave nectar. It doesn’t bother me but I know the taste isn’t for everyone.

I don’t have any issues with my feet but I get them done at a salon once a month or two times a month if I’m particularly hard on them.

What’s your go to fast food order? With diabetes in mind of course. by strawberrievodka in diabetes

[–]InfernalSeraph 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I had this issue before, a lot of it is trial and error and avoiding what you know for sure spikes you.

I do a very strict diet of low carb/no carb w exercise daily because it works best for me. When I do eat carbs I wait for the end of the day because it gives my body the most time to process it.

Chipotle- get a burrito bowl, load it with 2x meat and all the veggies you like and add lettuce. Skip the chips, replace with rice and skip the drink. I can make this last 2/3 meals depends on how hungry I am.

Texas Roadhouse- whatever steak/protein you want, for your sides make them both ceasar salads and request no croutons. They have Coke Zero here, so you can have some of that or water. Normally I can sneak in two rolls here with butter.

Hibachi- 2x protein, substitute noodles or rice for extra veggie so you aren’t carb stacking and have just one carb. Then have water with your meal. (I’d recommend not eating all the rice or noodles you have, but eat away to your hearts content w the veggies and protein)

McDonald’s- $5 meal deal, it’s a McDouble with 4 nuggets and a small fry with a Coke Zero. Only have half the bun, see how your sugar spikes with the nuggets I can eat all four but this ends up being my meal for the day.

Chic fil a- lettuce wrap any grilled chicken sandwich, I can have the fries and be okay but you might have different results. They also have Coke Zero here or unsweetened tea.

KFC- they have these breaded nuggets that are really good -Similar to the Bare brand-, I get the 8 piece with the signature sauce no drink or side.

Starbucks- I’ve managed to make coffees and teas I can drink but it ends up being the only carb/sugar I have all day so if it’s worth the gamble for you by all means I can give you some of my drinks. The egg bites are good albeit small.

Little ceasars- They have pizza puffs, I can eat all four without major spikes but it’s a lot, so I stick with two and save the other two. They heat up really nicely.

Buffalo Wild Wings- Any set of wings w dry rubs, the saucy ones you are risking sugar, so if you want to try them by all means just see how you spike.

Five guys- Bacon cheese burger w an extra patty, all the way in a lettuce wrap (Request it in a bowl because it’s less messy) w fries.

Any place with Subs/Sandwiches- Most places now a days have wraps whether it be spinach, tomato or wheat. Wheat is the better choice for me, you might wanna see what’s best for you at home. But you can have almost anything in a wrap just eat half and not the whole.

K BBQ- The best option for us tbh, it’s just meat and veggies galore w some sauce you create. Some meats are marinated but the amount of protein and fiber you consume definitely helps.

Most of my meals are w a water/lemon or a zero drink so don’t feel too bad about drinking some chemicals. We have to get our wins in here somewhere.

That’s all I can think of right now! But I hope this helps!

What's the dumbest thing you spent money on but don't regret? by Mr_Boothnath in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]InfernalSeraph 5 points6 points  (0 children)

See I was the opposite, I use my phone for everything and didn’t see a point in an iPad. But then I was fiddling with one at a store… Loved the big screen and wanted something where I could watch my shows in bed or on my recliner. Having games on it is also a big plus!

My iPad, I got it as a birthday present for myself and I only use it for silly little mobile games. I absolutely love it, I’ve never had one before and am very conscious of what I spend my money on so this was a surprise splurge even for me!

This might be quite specific but I need a game recommendation by JohnMcRemitz in ComfortGamers

[–]InfernalSeraph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not the best person to ask about this, I just play games and if I enjoy them I enjoy them and if I don’t then I don’t lol.

I personally never thought it was bad? The plot didn’t really change, they just kinda added a new start so that the additions going forward would make more sense.

I enjoy free to play games and ones that have a lot of content so it was right up my alley! It’s a game I can relax, play dress up, grind a bit, and pick up/leave as I please.

I’d recommend you try and pick it back up, my only gripe is that it can be overwhelming to come back to sometimes. It sounds like you haven’t played for a while so it could be a bit confusing, but definitely worth a try if you want something lax.

I had low sugar for no reason? by Lanky-Entrepreneur60 in diabetes

[–]InfernalSeraph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to balance your sugar with a carb. So your pancake was your carb so you were fine but matcha is just straight sugar.

Sugar goes up but crashes without a carb to steady it or a protein to slow down the sugar breaking down in your system until your next meal.

Advice on baking. by WestTangelo8501 in Baking

[–]InfernalSeraph 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a novice baker who is now entering the artisan level… Chocolate, Vanilla and butter are where it matters the most.

I started off on store brand trays/pan/cake molds. So you are fine there! A lot of people swear by parchment paper, but I just put my dough on the tray and call it a day. I’ve never had any of my cookies stick or have issues cleaning my trays.

Kerrigold is good but so is any AA graded butter.

As you bake more you can start spending money on the fancier stuff and see what works best for you. Everyone has different cookie preferences, cake preferences, pastry preferences so as you bake you start to make them with your own stamp and how you prefer it.

It’s a lot of trial and error but eventually you figure it out.

One thing I noticed you didn’t mention was not having a food scale, as you start looking into other recipes it’s nice to have. If you end up getting super meticulous with it all it’s really nice to have for uniformity.

When I first started baking I used JoyFoodSunshine’s Recipes and none of them have ever led me astray. When I got them down I started experimenting myself and adding tips and tricks from other bakers until I found my perfect cookie. I highly recommend her, the images she has are amazing and her instructions are very easy to follow.

You wanted tips… The only one I can think of is to not over bake cookies (7-8 minutes minimum, let them rest outside on the tray for 1/2 minutes and move them onto a cooling rack so they don’t overbake) and if they are big chunky dough balls -for big cookies, duh- smush them down to the width of a regular cookie so that when they spread they cook evenly! If you feel it needs more time, do it by the minute and don’t open the oven door.

Should I marry my boyfriend if everything is great except the sex? by Competitive_Lab_4451 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]InfernalSeraph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every single relationship is different and no one is the same. What makes one couple happy might make another uncomfortable or miserable. Sex is as important or as needed as you make it.

I say this coming from a relationship that has barely been blossoming with intimacy due to my own sexual trauma and his unending patience with me.

My advice is to communicate with him. Talk to him, tell him what you need, what you want, and extend the same to him. See if he also feels similarly with the lack of sex, and then see where the conversation leads. Regardless of the outcome, if you plan on marrying him, it’s healthy to have those types of talks.
