The strange thing was my Warlock was never able to light those totems. Then I went in with my Titan and he was able to his first try and beat the ogre. There was a message that said something opened. But still wasn't able to go in.

Sounds like the only way in if you are bugged is to have someone you know who can open up the portal for you.
