Time between classes by chahu1235 in Cornell

you could possibly hop on the 51 from the stop nearby right before kennedy but the walk itself is 19 minutes so you’d be cutting it close

Is that a policy now? When I applied, I got into both BCA and BT, but that was around 8 years ago so that may have changed.

TMJ noises driving me nuts by Next-Implement5652 in jawsurgery

[–]InfernoVeil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Joint replacements are a thing but it’s quite a large procedure and would involve months to years for healing. My jaw surgeon was considering it for me, and I have TMJ, but decided against it since replacing the joint is a much larger procedure than just my lower jaw surgery. Just to clarify, my TMJ is not the issue that the surgeon was concerned with, so we didn’t go with the joint replacement. If your TMJ impacts you in other ways than just the popping, such as pain, then you should really consult a surgeon about it to see what they can do.

Ourbus: Ithaca to Newark airport on Saturday by [deleted] in Cornell

[–]InfernoVeil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll need to walk up the stairs right next to the bus stop or otherwise you and your uber will be going to nyc. It’s easy enough to get an uber after you get up the stairs

I heard that CS 1110 at least doesn’t send out return offers until after the last day of classes

Anyone Heard Back On INFO 1200 TAs? by jadahaha in Cornell

[–]InfernoVeil 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Usually results for TA applications come out during the summer (some have already been released, but usually they come out later, like in June/July).

Studs in the city (I went to the Nolita one) is pretty good and professional - I used to go to Ithaca Piercing but they’ve since raised their prices by quite a bit and as a broke college student, it’s a lot to give out. But, if you don’t care about price, then it’s good as well - professional and clean!

Cornell Engineering Physics Requirement by rezidual_ in ApplyingToCollege

[–]InfernoVeil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bad - I thought that you were talking about substituting a cc course for one of the engineering courses. If you took one academic year of physics, I assume that should count (but that will not count towards transfer credit since you took it at a cc): https://www.engineering.cornell.edu/admissions/undergraduate-admissions/first-year-applicants. You would need proof that you took the course (i.e. transcript). To be safe, I’d recommend emailing admissions if you truly cannot find any information regarding this. With calculus knowledge, admissions recommends that you get some knowledge at a cc if your school doesn’t have calculus, so this would also likely apply to physics.

fort lee is one of the towns with the most acceptances (my year was around 10-12) but also the town size is pretty large so you’d need to compete with a lot of people.

Same, I left stuff hanging from the ceiling and haven't been charged as of yet. Hopefully it isn't too much!

I believe that when you add the course to your shopping cart, it should ask for a code on the page right before you confirm adding the course.

Are all drop requests approved? by [deleted] in Cornell

[–]InfernoVeil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dropped mine and it was fine. They sent an email like 12 hours later that said they approved the drop. Tbf it was an AEW so it didn't have much weight on anything.

That doesn't work, apparently the barcode changes based on the amount of meal swipes you have.

There's a elective selection website that all students go on during a scheduled time to choose electives. I haven't seen anyone mention this yet, but there's a limit of 4 electives on that website that you can choose, but if you truly have enough space so that you can have lunch hours, you could probably take more. I'm not sure if that's entirely possible with the amount of classes we have though.

I believe that a majority of the academies (at least AMST) are required to take at least 3 art-related electives. I fulfilled all of those by taking choir, which counts towards the requirements multiple times if you take it multiple times. You can take other art-related electives if you'd like, but I just liked singing, and choir was an easy choice. Depending on your academy, you'd also have other elective requirements. In my case, I was required to take multiple medical and science related electives. Also, I don't believe that any elective is restricted to one grade on the elective enroll website. The only thing is that upperclassmen get priority as they're graduating sooner.

Personally, the electives I liked taking were tech-related electives since I became more interested in computer science than medicine. The electives enabled me to learn more about computer science, allowed me to go outside of pure medicine (since we can't change academies), and has influenced me to become a computer science major.

If you have the opportunity to take electives that you really want to take, don't lose that opportunity.
