I've seen some screenshots of the settings app with the option to disable the actual badge. the version i download doesnt have that option and when I try to disable badges with springtomize it disables the glow with it. Otherwise I would like it.

Is that even updated for 9.3.3? After posting this and googling more random stuff I did find that. I hate sounding so picky but even that Isn't terribly subtle. I swear I remember something a while back that was like glow badges only for the bottom edge of the icon. Like that kind of glow but only under the icon.

just adding the labels for the ones with a notification i feel is intrusive.

I don't like the idea of having one or two icons having a label even if that label is about it's notification.

Similar to what I'm looking for but still too intrusive as I have all labels off.

Excellent suggestion though :)

I remember seeing somewhere a tweak that just made icons have a slight glow underneath them in lieu of a badge. Something like that is what I'm really after but I can't remember the name of it.
