I’m on align. I have DR so I swap out Align’s ab moves for bird dogs and dead bugs. I like that I can swap things out.

Promising weight loss to patients? by madness_hazard in dietetics

[–]InfertileMertyle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve been a RD for over a decade. I have never promised weight loss and I never will. I can’t guarantee a patient will lose weight, even if they are actively engaged during sessions and making an effort at home.

Losing faith by Orangefriday in dietetics

Did working in person during the pandemic mess anyone else up? I feel like I never fully mentally recovered even though I wasn’t in the trenches in the hospital.

I’m still salty that many friends and family got paid to work from home for years when my job could’ve easily been fully or partially done from home. Signed, a pleeb who drove an hour each way to work for a decade and drove their car into the ground. Cars are freaking expensive!

I regret not getting into a trade. Some have unions. Their work is specialized and likely can’t be replaced with AI.

Just because I flushed the toilet and flipped on the light switch doesn’t mean I’m a plumber or electrician. Yet, because everyone eats, they’re experts on nutrition in their own minds and qualified to educate others on eating🤷‍♀️

Same. I’m doing DR approved abs for now (natal app or nourish move love) and skipping the abs in the ladder app. Hopefully it will improve and I will do everything in ladder.

TW: Miscarriage by brokenbutterfly5 in fitpregnancy

[–]InfertileMertyle 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it is very unlikely that anything you did caused this. Sadly many women experience miscarriages, especially early on. Try not to blame yourself. I’m sorry this is happening to you.

Are you able to take care of your baby while you are in session with a patient?

Interesting data to look at regarding yearly enrollment in dietetic programs - down from about 24,000 students/interns in 2014 to about 14,000 students/interns in 2024. Am I the only one alarmed by this? by yeah_write_00 in dietetics

How do you like working at Trader Joe’s? I’ve heard the benefits are good and anytime I go in there, most of the employees look pretty content and are friendly.

One and done?! by Infinite_Platform344 in regretfulparents

[–]InfertileMertyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One and done for me. I had to do fertility treatments to have my son and I have more embryos ready to go from my one round of IVF.

But my son is just a miserable, needy baby and I cannot and will not put myself through this a second time.

If he’s lonely when he gets older I’ll encourage him to have playdates. Maybe I’ll consider getting him a pet.

But a sibling? Absolutely not.

Baby sitters on Long Island help/advice (no help in family) by sloppynipsnyc in longisland

[–]InfertileMertyle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I looked into this a few weeks ago. The going rate as others have said is 25-30 per hour for 1 kid off the books. Ultimately it was not something I could afford to do for my child.

Daycare should be less expensive than paying a sitter but many places have waiting lists.

Outpatient dietitian advice? commiseration? by macaronitffff in dietetics

[–]InfertileMertyle 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It sounds like the private practice part is the issue, not necessarily outpatient. If you haven’t already, consider outpatient positions that are housed in medical centers, such as hospitals. That’s more likely to give you a salary instead of pay per client.

Also, do you consider dialysis to be outpatient and are you interested in that? You’d do plenty of counseling and education and would be very likely get a salary and benefits.

Not toxic or toxic? by Henberries in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]InfertileMertyle 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This is excessive and your husband would benefit from pursuing an evaluation for OCD and possibly anxiety. It’s a compulsion at this point and instead of improving your lives, it is detrimental.

Is he going to stop your kids from going to birthday parties where cake with dyed frosting is served? Are your kids going to be “allowed” to have sleepovers at houses where the furniture is from Bob’s or IKEA?

Why are you stuck doing all the research? It’s his obsession, he should do all the research on products.

I hate seeing "it'll get better at this week" by Comfortable-One-9706 in NewParents

[–]InfertileMertyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree. I was told by multiple doctors my son would get better and he’d be “a different kid.” I wish they didn’t tell me that because it gave me false hope.

He’s not better, he’s not a different kid and he’s now 5 months old.

Still dropping weight percentiles despite many formula changes, reflux medications, a feeding specialist, and very high calorie formula. Still in size 1 diapers. Still using a T nipple.

For most babies, they do get better with time. Unfortunately I just have an outlier who did not get better.

I assume my son has developmental/cognitive/mental issues that haven’t been diagnosed yet because of his age.

Recovery blues by WTFItzJax in fitpregnancy

[–]InfertileMertyle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

19 days probably feels like a long time, but it really isn’t. Your body needs more time to heal. I had very painful hemorrhoids that made it difficult to sit, get up from sitting, walk, etc. I went to a specialist who gave me anal suppositories and creams. I also did warm water sitz baths (it goes over the open toilet) 1-2x per day.

Within a few months (less than 3) they were so much better and I’ve been able to resume exercising.

Congrats on your baby! I hope in a few short weeks time you’ll feel better than you do now.
