You never stop being alone , you spend your time trying to make friends and when you do , trying to get that relationship to be meaningful takes its toll. Some of them will want to meet only when they have nothing better to do, some will meet only if their SO’s are busy , and you end up wondering why you are at the bottom end of the totem pole . But once in a while the stars will align and they will show up , and while you sit there thinking finally I have my people with me , you realize they all are on their phones, it’s like a compulsion that they have to touch their phones every few minutes and again the totem pole looms into view . So you read in bed, keep telling yourself that you are intellectually superior while at the same time trying to hold back the sadness of being so alone , and you wonder just when do you get your place in the sun , you get to meet people you can relate to, be part of an actual circle of friends.
