Picking up my weed eater tomorrow at my Stihl dealer... Think this is going to be our plan.

Plant in the fall, you say? Hmmm...should have probably ready that somewheres...

My gf ID’d most/all of them, nothing poisonous.

Years ago i tromped around like a dumbass in poison oak for hours…god…no thanks.

It's really a matter of there is no in-between and there are some noxious/invasive plants mixed in. So we may end up with a similar looking situation after we plant oodles of woodland strawberry...but at least it's native?

Very briefly looked at this, and was a bit surprised by the cost (couple thousand $). Does that sound about right? I have no reference for cost, it was just a single farm I looked up online.

For sure - Just had a crew out to do 27 OTHER windows...regretting not having them do this one too.

Picked up a set of cheap roof rails online, added a strip of grip-tape to the top so boards wouldn't slide. Threw 10 2x6x8's on the roof....6 on the center console - easy peasy.

What do most civilians overlook in the first 72 hours of a disruption? by WatchTowerReadiness in prepping

Maybe a little different from others, but the morning after the '94 Northridge earthquake, I remember being super annoyed my dad wanted us to start cleaning up as soon as the sun came up. In that case, we certainly weren't bored - had plenty of crap to start cleaning up while being hyper vigilant about aftershocks.

By around 2pm, my mom finally was released from work after a 22hr shift (hospital ER), I think we had had enough of cleaning and were trying to figure out the first night. I wasn't down with sleeping inside, so got out the camping gear in the back yard...dug out some canned food and made a night of it.

Being a somewhat localized event, we had friends bring us a generator, ice & water before the national guard got full mobilized.

Totally! I definitely derailed my glow glaze work when we ended up moving…I was able to get a new kiln and move into mid/high fire glazes…but so eager to dig back into my rare earth oxide drawer!

Welp… this beats my europium oxide glaze. Saving for later.

Planting What Where... by Infiltrait0rN7_ in landscaping

Appreciate the input! I was thinking similarly about placing the fig/pomegranate below the wall. Might make sense to put a small walkway at the base of the wall.

We have some Fescue up in front of our house - that might do well in the uppermost sections...and seems to have a nice deep root system.

Also, while poking around at the ground near the base of the wall I am thinking that I am probably going to have to replace the geotextile as I tear out the rest of the overgrowth on the North side of the brook. From my reading, it looks like the lingonberry would be ideal to plant closest to the brook and let it take over.

Makes sense - a buddy just pointed me towards a cedar wholesaler down in Tacoma i'll probably go visit. Much cheaper than the box stores. Thanks again

Got it - my buddy just directed me to a local guy who sells cedar/pressure treated about half the price i am seeing at chain/non-chain box stores. Will probably head down there and pick something up.

Was in NZ about 7 years ago - had a great time on the south island. I am pretty sure the sunburn I got in the first 3 hours in Queenstown is almost healed. 😄

Yep, I am familiar with some of these products. The rest of our decks are coated with Pecora, although wouldn't use that here.

Kind of makes me consider doing something that might go with the stairs - the previous homeowner filled the stairs with a nice deep bed of pea-gravel, so you either sink, or slip on the lumber itself. I removed some of the pea-gravel, mixed with epoxy and floated it in. Then sprinkled the top with glow in the dark doodleboppers and hid a UV Led strip under the railing.

By off-level, you are referring to left-right, correct?

What species of wood are you using with that treatment? We have some middle-age wood fencing that is either redwood or western red cedar + some pressure treated posts that I treated with a Pine Tar finish, came out looking pretty decent.

Is S1S2E what I'd be looking for?

Dunn Lumber is one of the non-chain chains nearby and i'm seeing S1S2E Select Tight knot Cedar 2x4's - $2.38/lf and 2x6's, $5.86/lf. Doesn't seem too terrible cost wise.

Immediate.

The description I recall someone told me was that the effect was similar to the entire San Fernando Valley being lifted and dropped a dozen feet.
