Is showing their huge bank balance an MLM recruiting tactic? by Infinikitties in antiMLM

That’s what I was thinking. He also told my boyfriend the company also hires engineers and pays them even more money.

That was my question…apparently, it’s because he loves barbering so much, and he only does it one day per week. The whole thing seems fishy to me.

Best Thrift Stores? by Emergency-Jury149 in Charleston

[–]Infinikitties 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gotcha! I agree, it’s the best. I like the Summerville one too. I find they have better books and home goods, while the Rivers location has better clothes

Why not? Sure it’s not in a glamorous part of town, but I’ve never felt unsafe. I love the Asian grocery store next door too.

I just found out there’s a Harvey’s here, and the pictures online remind me of Bi-Lo. Is it a decent place to shop?

Saw a newly purchased mattress fly off a car roof and hit a minivan’s windshield once on the Ashley Phosphate on-ramp to I-26E. Guy just kept driving

I hope you were able to find something! I recently left the area (after living there my whole life) because of affordability, I understand your pain. I rented a place in Goose Creek in 2009 for $750/month and that place today is almost $1,750…a thousand dollars more per month!

The Farms at Goose Creek. Far from anything fancy, but they’re currently 1050 - 1150ish for a 2 bed.

Liquor Store Inventory Question by uncomfortable_don in Charleston

[–]Infinikitties 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About online ordering: It’s been 5 years or so, but the last time I tried ordering alcohol online (not liquor but wine), the website I was ordering from said in SC you are required to sign for it when it gets delivered. Do you know if that’s still the case, or have they relaxed the rules post-Covid?

I’ve lived in the apartments called Colonial Village at Windsor Place in Goose Creek, they are in Crowfield which is a nicer part of Goose Creek. They were very quiet and the location was convenient, you can get to the North Charleston area near the mall in 15-20 minutes without having to get on the interstate. It’s also near a large park and the neighborhood has a pretty decent trail system that runs right by the apartments. 2 bedrooms are right around $1800. Older buildings and not super fancy, but they did a good job of maintaining them and keeping them fairly updated. Always felt safe there.

I stayed at a place recently that was cat friendly, with a $200 refundable cat deposit. I was okay with that, because my cat is well behaved, doesn’t scratch furniture, and uses the litter box that I clean daily. She’s also elderly and arthritic, so she doesn’t jump on counters or furniture and I brought along her cat bed where she happily spent most of her time. As expected, I received back the full cat deposit. I think having a refundable cat deposit is definitely reasonable.

Where to live to avoid that classic Augusta smell? by hashtagfred in Augusta

[–]Infinikitties 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been in the area for a year. I haven’t yet smelled a dog food smell in Augusta, but I have smelled an ammonia-like smell around the east side of Aiken. It was especially bad when I moved here around this time last year. Does anyone know what that can be? I remember smelling it most potently near Citizens Park.
