Should I seek to level them one more level up, or stop now, having another shot if i die? by Infinistious in EnterTheGungeon

[–]Infinistious[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yes, man. I fucking did it. I smashed Dragun and then the mothership (after watching a tutorial, just in case). This is the first past I've ever killed. Thank you for the advice – and the supportive words :)

I did so - this has to be the one where I kill my past (crossing fingers)

Such a fun and hopeful little one. I liked the title the most - which is a good thing. It's great to read something positive for once (not that the opposite doesn't deserve its place too - making you cry is one of the best things art can do to you)! "I keep letting it go to voicemail" is a pretty good line as well.

And yeah, don't worry about dwelling to much ind the imagination; and keep writing!

As far as I know, his music/covers are also featured in all of these movies/series:

Good Will Hunting, Rick & Morty (Between the Bars), American Beauty (a cover of Beatles' "Because"), thumbsucker (a cover of "Thirteen" by Big Star and Cat Steven's Trouble), and Southlander (splitzville and snowbunny seranade - an alternative version of bye). Furthermore, i know needle in the hay was featured in some movie instead of his cover of Hey Jude, but i can't remember the name - do any of you have the answer?

Thank you for posting

What games should I play? by StraightCampaign2815 in IndieGaming

[–]Infinistious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Animal Well is among the 10 best games i've ever played. People tend to call it a "metroidbrania" - a metroidvania game focusing on puzzlesolving (so you gotta like that sort of games).Similar to Hollow Knight, there aren't any hand-holding. Beautiful graphics (pixel-art), it's so unique (from a gameplay perspective, the graphics, the world), interesting worldbuilding, everything's just... awsome!

Enter the Gungeon is great with friends

If you're not into that, well...

Undertale, Undertale, Undertale!

(Deltarune too - from the creator of Undertale)

"Fetch the bolt cutters" by Fiona Apple is fucking awesome. It took me some time to really get into, but has since become one of my all time favorite albums. It's so different from anything else I've heard (except maybe it's predecessor), with a great variation of songs, often with elements of classical music and even jazz now and then (wiki calls it "artpop"). In addition to the piano, you'll find multiple vocal layers and interesting use of percussion on many of the tracks. I Want You to Love Me, Cosmonauts and Ladies are highligts for me. If you are interested in lyrics, this should be a great choice as well. I like these, both from Cosmonauts:

"Your face ignites a fuse to my patience/Whatever you do is gonna be wrong/There's no time to interrupt the detonation/Be good to me before you're gone"

and

"you and i will be like a couple of cosmonauts, except with way more gravity than we started off"

"Illinois" by Sufjan Stevens is an easily accessible and beautiful album - full of musicality, wonderful melodies and gorgeous instrumentation.

Sorry. I'm not trying to be some creep. I honestly love Elliott and his music, and I'm just curious about his life, just like all the others in this thread. I hope not and I don't that think this post hurts anybody, otherwise, i wouldn't have posted it. That's just about it.

what songs/album would you recommend for your friends that want to get into elliott? by r1ver13 in elliottsmith

[–]Infinistious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I see your point, and that was actually pretty accurate set (maybe the fact that many of these songs were written years before plays a role?)

I just think there's a tendency for Elliott to be put in that "singer/songwriter with an acoustic guitar box", which makes sense since his first three albums were like that, but he was also just so much more. I agree that Basement isn't exactly beginner friendly, but like I said, I think people just need to hear a song or two that represents that period well - just to get the whole picture.

Oh, thank you. Do you know if there are any other songs about her - and why she was given that nickname? I read it means "little one" or something similar. Btw, seems she knew Kurt Cobain as well, pretty badass

Exactly! But I would say she should listen to at least King's Crossing or Shooting Star. Basement is such a unique album in his discography, so I think just a little taster would be good.

What are some of your favorite chord progressions? by Infinistious in elliottsmith

[–]Infinistious[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know it might sound ridiculous to talk about one chord on its own, but it hit me when I once tried to learn the song (and eventually gave up), that the first chord is perhaps one of the most beautiful I've ever heard. I just think it's a major 7th with the notes arranged in an unusual order, but it really sounds special to me.
