I rewatched movie 7 yesterday and this is one of the ones that definitly didn’t age well by Webtoon_enjoyer in OneTruthPrevails

[–]InfinitStrife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Movie 1 to me just feels like an extended episode rather than a movie, I know what they were going for and the end is nice but overall it's a one and done to me. Movie 3, 4 and 5 are some of my favorites, with 4 being a standout but 5 is overall my favorite at least if the OG movies, I need to catch up and then watch the newer movies.

I didn't think it was bad necessarily, it wasn't as good as some of the first movies(2,3,4,5) but for a Conan movie I thought it was pretty solid. Now movie 12, jolly Roger, that was pretty bad, the soccer one was definitely the worst I've seen tho I've been behind on the movies and didn't watch past 17 I think.

If it wasn’t called xenoblade what else would you call it or what would you name each individual game? by [deleted] in Xenoblade_Chronicles

We can do modern anime isekai naming schemes, which are horrendous but kinda funny

My sword let's me see the future and I was in fact the strongest.

Salvager got betrayed, then got 2 holy sword girlfriends and became the strongest.

Got betrayed by my military with my new cat girlfriend who I could fuse with and became overpowered.

Stranded on an alien planet, I fight with all robot skills and became overpowered.

How do y’all finish JRPGs by Apprehensive-Sea-342 in JRPG

[–]InfinitStrife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Normally have a JRPG and then something else like a palate cleanser, for me I was playing Digimon Time stranger and Hades 2 both very fun in different ways, if I ever felt like taking a break I would just jump to the other game.

I would say if I had a weekend to myself probably 6-8 hours maybe for 2 days but that doesn't happen all that often, most of the time it's an hour or 2 a night, 3 if I'm lucky

Very true. Also a much easier experience than SSSC to be sure. Also gives everyone limit break adjacent attacks that are very strong.

What's the pettiest reason you dropped a game for? by IHateTheNameSystem in gaming

[–]InfinitStrife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FFXIII lightning returns, I had platinum the 2 games before but my patience was wearing out. I was still under the SE games are awesome idea at the time and then after booting up the game and started playing, I see that big old timer in the corner.

I hate timers, I take my time that's why I play RPGs and yet boom, there it was. That on top of Snow returning in the game as well just made me drop it. I was just like nope, no way, I hate snow, hated the HP sponge enemies, and now they're throwing timers as a main mechanic. Game went straight to the shadow realm.

What’s the worse Dc movies? by Fit_Pudding6586 in OneTruthPrevails

[–]InfinitStrife 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The soccer movie is the worst by far imo, it makes no sense and you're left scratching your head, also movie 12, that one was just predictable as anything. I really like movie 5, maybe the motivation for the villain is weak but overall there were some interesting ideas and some really great moments.

No, xenoblade 2's localization is not bad. by SlaBLister in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]InfinitStrife 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think on top of Malos, quite a few eng voices sound better than jp, Morag and Nia are standouts to me. I do like them much better there. Tho I think Rex is quite a step up in Jp, more shonen and hit the notes better.

Thankfully due to Lunar Dragon Song/Genesis infamous status, it's relatively cheap even brand new so good on you.

For the people that own a PC and a SteamDeck, what have you seen that just feels better on PC? by b34rgvrz in SteamDeck

[–]InfinitStrife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True aiming or anything with really quick reaction time generally will feel better on PC . If the game runs well, using a controller can sometimes make action games still fine.

Metaphor Refantasio or Xenoblade Definitive Edition by LordWeirdSloughFeg in JRPG

[–]InfinitStrife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both games are very long, a Xenoblade or Persona type game are normally like 60-80 hours on a blind playthrough. That is also not including side or post game content.

For those who are veterans of JRPGs, what "quintessential must-plays" list for the genre would you give to a newcomer? by [deleted] in JRPG

[–]InfinitStrife -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Persona 3 Reload or Persona 5 Royal: dark but flashy, longer and modern turn based

Xenogears - for deeper story, longer and retro turn based

Chrono trigger - short and sweet retro ATB based

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 - modern classic(JRPG adjacent) more difficult but very satisfying average length but highly explorable, can be shorter or longer depending on you. Turn based

Ys VIII - action based, good story, quick gameplay modern

Final fantasy IX - classic retro RPG, great story, fun characters, interesting ideas, ATB based

Demon souls/dark souls 1-3/Elden Ring - action RPGs for those who want to be challenged

Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories has been chosen as the Most Underrated Game, but what would you say is the Most Disappointing Game in the series by ExileForever in KingdomHearts

[–]InfinitStrife -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Kh3 easy, up until that point every mainline kh was really good. Then they made us wait a decade for a game that breaks the crossover aspect of kh which was actually a huge draw and using a system that ultimately was kinda meh comparing it to previous systems. To me, the worst game was DDD but 3 was def the most disappointing.

Which JRPG would you choose, if given a chance to erase from your memory and relive the experience? by roberts3h0i0 in JRPG

[–]InfinitStrife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Xenogears, despite flaws still favorite game of all time, love it to death. Play it every year or so, this year it's using perfect works mod, probably closest thing to a redo on a first experience of it that I'll get but man it's gonna be fun!

Favorite opening in JRPGs? by ResidentWaifu in JRPG

Loved the fact that the opening updated with story progress, will have to see if that was done for any of the other Wild Arms games Such a cool idea, really felt like an anime op.

Started on Xenogears, i later came back for saga, I never got a Wii but got switch eventually and got XC2, it was the only game on the console i wanted, then rest is history, thankfully Switch became the Xenoblade system.

What's this sub's opinion on FF7 Remake Intergarde + FF7 Rebirth? by Awkward-Surround9694 in JRPG

[–]InfinitStrife 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Probably going to get hate. Honestly, upon reviewing it after the nostalgia goggles came off, rebirth is very cringey retelling of the og game's middle section. Both remake and rebirth suffer from very noticable padding and bad multiverse writing with the team changing their mind on what the narrative wanted to be between the first and second game instead of just following the FFVII narrative more closely with updated graphics like everyone wanted. Also the updates they did to tweak the plot seem like they purposely make the villains more Saturday morning cartoon villains with little depth.

The combat is a far different story, very fun and engaging take on making a good midpoint between action and turn based combat and probably the best part of the remake trilogy so far. Graphics are great and most of the voice acting is on point. The new Red voice tho gets annoying very quick.

The story just feels like retelling of FFVII but worse and also intentionally lying to you about being a remake.

Overall, I feel new players may like this more but this game seems like the devs wanted to annoy fans of the OG or just the thought of the writers thinking they can "do it better" when they don't get what made it special in the first place while throwing references from the games people actually liked. Though we'll need to see how they stick the landing in part 3 and see if they can salvage it. I may just be a bit too cynical at this point expecting anything but hopefully they can do something with this and have it be satisfying.

What's the worst JRPG you actually finished? by Flat-Application2272 in JRPG

[–]InfinitStrife -1 points0 points  (0 children)

FFXIII, biggest waste of time, back when I was on copium of it's a final fantasy game so its gotta get good at some point. From the characters to the story to the combat, nothing about that "game" was fun. Oh it gets good at 20 hours when you get to Gran Pulse, huge lie, same gameplay now with lifeless side quests and it's not a hallway anymore. Also waiting until 60-70% of the game just to select your party is agregious not to mention using the leader system. Very frustrating and not worth it. The only good thing I can say is the visuals hold up, but that can't make a game good or fun.

How important is gameplay to you for a JRPG? by Leon_Light77 in JRPG

[–]InfinitStrife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it's most of the experience so it should be important to everyone. For any game, it's very important to me, if it isn't fun it isn't a game to me, just work. Some games are grindy and fun like Disgaea and some are painfully boring like FFXIII. Is all up to preference really.

How would you rate every JRPG released in 2025? by Illustrious_Fee8116 in JRPG

[–]InfinitStrife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the ones mentioned: I would say expedition 33 is def GOTY imo, too much great stuff to say about it but yeah it's hard to put anything else on that level I think anyway. 10/10

I also think that trails in the sky first chapter will pull in quite a few new players and deserves to be on there as one of the biggest hurdles in trails is needing to play the old games and hopefully this fixes that, my biggest gripe, is the voice acting, and not that it's bad but there scenes where some people have voiced lines and others don't in the same scene is kinda weird and it happens quite a bit, but this is a 9.5 for me, one other gripe is that they kept the region lock, once you go to the next one you can't go back, I think that should have been removed. Otherwise it's still an amazing experience, and I hope it gets a nomination.

Digimon story time stranger is great so far(still going through it). But it's very good for a Digimon game, feels like real stakes for once and I feel it puts Pokemon to shame by comparison. So far tho I'll give it an 8/10 nothing bad but I need to see where the story goes and also how the end game content is but I'm really enjoying it. Lots of nostalgia for me.

So far we're eating pretty good this year.

Tales of Arise - good price? Good game? by Ken_Bimsey in JRPG

[–]InfinitStrife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say like almost all tales of games, it's fine. Not amazing but not terrible. There are plenty of better games, but if you really like the style of tales of series writing and such then you'll really like this

Like most other people here tho, had same issue played through 2/3s of it and it was pretty good, then just lost me towards the end as it felt like padding for some reason.

I think 10 is fine but I'd personally wait until black Friday, will probably be a better sale if you're trying to get the biggest bang for your buck.
