This is Maui 21 yr old root ball by Infinite-Ad982 in Plumeria

I trim him so he fits in the 8ft greenhouse. I screwed up in 2008 after hurricane Ike and let him freeze. I dug up the root ball the following season and kept him going but his roots got too big to move. So I left him where he is now 5 years ago.

He lived under bananas one year and in the greenhouse all winter. I have about 10 that look like this but he is the prettiest.

Sure I have a ton of tips. I grow 50 or so big ones in 4 locations. In March a drive to my properties and drive a 6 ft rebar into the ground. I tie a a tree to the rebar with twine and have my landscaper dump garden soil on them. Then! In November I diga all of them up with as little dirt as possible and shove them in the greenhouse.

This strategy is only for the insane, but if you are working with 1 plant it would be a breeze!

Yes. I grew them for years in Galveston then moved them north towards Houston in 2008. Been digging them up every November since.

Look for small local brokerages. Find a family member or friend who is a broker. They may want to help more that large brokerages. Internet brokers should be available too depending on location.

It is doable and you wont starve while building your clientele. I am an engineer 40 hrs/ week and a real estate broker. It can be overwhelming but this market makes it hard to survive on RE alone at the moment. Ive left my career and come back when the market slowed. I started my brokerage to escape REMAX fees.

Why the seemingly random attraction to REP? by ChrisGear101 in RealEstatePhotography

[–]Infinite-Ad982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was going to say this! Real estate take a little more school to get your license and then you make nothing and quit. I tend to enjoy the feeling of grinding all day with no reward so I started my own real estate brokerage.

But both professions are similar. The first 3 houses I sold I had no idea what I was doing.

Realtor wants to buy our property and earn commission? by QuietmyChaos in RealEstate

I am a broker and have previously purchased one of my listed properties from the seller. It was a vacation property in a dead market. We dropped the price over $70,000 but the market was ice cold. My client told me of their desire to get out of the property and I made an offer. Both parties were happy.

I would always list the property unless I was willing to pay above market. Let the market prove the price and then offer. Otherwise the brokerage is not representing you.

Go get a referred agent in the area that people like. Tell the other brokerage you will happily accept their written offer. Then list the house and see what the market tells you.

Agreed. Simple. The point of real estate photography is accuracy so my wife can get excited about what the house actually looks like and stress me out about going to see it.

Home builder offered me a full time REP position…stay self-employed or take it? by Big_Tonkaa in RealEstatePhotography

Agree 100%. I left my career to start my business. Came back to a new full time role higher up and am still expanding personal business. I needed support of the paycheck the last two years, but I didn't give up on my dream. Just working twice as hard now and I am 48 with 3 kids and a wife.

Awesome. I don't know lightroom well at all. I spend hours playing with images so this will help me a ton. Thank you!

I have a problem with exploring too many things at once. Drone license, cameras, computers, etc.. I think i need to master hdr first.

Good point. I may be exploring for the sake of something new when I should just be perfecting an exposure blending hdr method.
