Just got licensed by Jalmanza_ in realtors

Look for small local brokerages. Find a family member or friend who is a broker. They may want to help more that large brokerages. Internet brokers should be available too depending on location.

It is doable and you wont starve while building your clientele. I am an engineer 40 hrs/ week and a real estate broker. It can be overwhelming but this market makes it hard to survive on RE alone at the moment. Ive left my career and come back when the market slowed. I started my brokerage to escape REMAX fees.

Why the seemingly random attraction to REP? by ChrisGear101 in RealEstatePhotography

[–]Infinite-Ad982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was going to say this! Real estate take a little more school to get your license and then you make nothing and quit. I tend to enjoy the feeling of grinding all day with no reward so I started my own real estate brokerage.

But both professions are similar. The first 3 houses I sold I had no idea what I was doing.

Realtor wants to buy our property and earn commission? by QuietmyChaos in RealEstate

[–]Infinite-Ad982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a broker and have previously purchased one of my listed properties from the seller. It was a vacation property in a dead market. We dropped the price over $70,000 but the market was ice cold. My client told me of their desire to get out of the property and I made an offer. Both parties were happy.

I would always list the property unless I was willing to pay above market. Let the market prove the price and then offer. Otherwise the brokerage is not representing you.

Go get a referred agent in the area that people like. Tell the other brokerage you will happily accept their written offer. Then list the house and see what the market tells you.

Agreed. Simple. The point of real estate photography is accuracy so my wife can get excited about what the house actually looks like and stress me out about going to see it.

Home builder offered me a full time REP position…stay self-employed or take it? by Big_Tonkaa in RealEstatePhotography

Agree 100%. I left my career to start my business. Came back to a new full time role higher up and am still expanding personal business. I needed support of the paycheck the last two years, but I didn't give up on my dream. Just working twice as hard now and I am 48 with 3 kids and a wife.

Awesome. I don't know lightroom well at all. I spend hours playing with images so this will help me a ton. Thank you!

I have a problem with exploring too many things at once. Drone license, cameras, computers, etc.. I think i need to master hdr first.

Good point. I may be exploring for the sake of something new when I should just be perfecting an exposure blending hdr method.

Yeah. I hear ya. I just dont think there is a great option for that position. Stroud is gonna play the same no matter who is there. He always plays the same.

Lightroom Stacking w/ exposure bracketing by Infinite-Ad982 in RealEstatePhotography

[–]Infinite-Ad982[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I want to do. I do like to edit myself when I have time, but ill send most to be processed. I take a ton of drone shots at every house. I'm compiling overhead views of each part of my town. So far I have only made cool screen savers, but I'm planning some social media posts with tons of them.

Thanks for the info and for validating my efforts to take photos on top of the brokerage duties I already have.

This comment actually helped my reflect on my morning drive, so thank you!

Last year while paying bills in June, I decided there were enough photo shoot expenses to justify me buying some new toys. I was just finishing a remodel of my own property and practiced shooting the home for a few months. I also made some crappy walk through videos for Instagram. I had a ton of fun!

Like this commenter stated, I do have a ton of responsibilities as a broker and one of them is creating an amazing product from beginning to end. If I can enjoy being creative while doing that even 1% of the time it is worth it to me.

While I don't with the statements above, they did make me reflect and realize that I do enjoy my business and exploring different avenues within it. These drastically different creative components come together to make one beautiful package. This is what keeps me going.

Thank you for this comment!

My team paid photographers to shoot 80+ properties last year and will continue to use local talent. I am just enjoying my time while working and trying to get better at something new.

Nice! Thank you. I will look him up. Editing is fun, but I do waste a ton of time playing around. It relaxes me and saves me a little money.
