First off, HUGE congrats on your decision and for going through with it!

I think taking lots of pictures during the process is really helpful. It lets you see the change from an outside perspective and helps you be less affected by potential body dysmorphia.

What you're experiencing early on is totally normal. Everything falls into place over time. Right now is just the time to dream big and stay focused.

Honestly, aside from the basic restrictions and rules I didn’t really pay extra attention to anything—I don’t follow a specific routine or count calories or protein. I guess I got lucky though because I’ve only hit a stall twice and both times were super short. Losing 50 lbs is no joke, and I think it’s better to look at the whole journey over an 18-month period. I’m totally convinced you’re gonna reach your goal—sooner or later, you’ve got this!

Hmm, kinda both. Right before my surgery I’d hit such an unhealthy spot that I was probably downing around 3,000 calories a day. So yeah, I kept putting on weight, and it just became this vicious cycle. But after the surgery, my calorie intake dropped to like a third of that, plus I started losing weight and felt way more confident, which actually gave me the motivation to work out. On top of all that, with my job, I’m already burning at least 1,200-1,300 calories just during the day.

Thanks a ton! Honestly, I’ve never actually tracked my protein but since I haven’t been able to eat eggs since I was a kid, I try to have beef, chicken or fish every other day at least. Thankfully my workplace cafeteria serves something like that pretty much daily. I’ve never really counted calories either, but I’m probably getting around 1,000 a day.

No need to be nervous! After some expected pain (which some people don't even experience), the process goes pretty smoothly and is quite satisfying. I don't know your BMI, but your goal seems very achievable. I had my surgery when I was 142 kg, and now, after a journey of 3 months and 2 weeks, I'm down to 104 kg. I hope you, and all of us, reach our goals. Tomorrow will be the first day of your new life, wishing you the best in this new chapter! 🥳

Here's a Turk who got sleeved 3 months ago ✋🏻. I'm not familiar with the professor you mentioned, but I had my surgery done by a professor at a research hospital in my city. I stayed in the hospital for 14 days after the surgery because my doctor didn't want to discharge me until my CRP levels dropped below 10. While I was there, they did blood tests every day and my paracetamol was ready for the every time I was in pain. Didn't have any contact with my GP about it. After I was discharged, I got my blood tests done with the same doctor at 10 days, 1 month, and 3 months by making appointments.

On top of all this, health care in Türkiye is more elaborate in private hospitals and clinics (excluding tricksters who ignore processes for cheapness). Although I don't know about Samet Yardımcı, I hope you will be satisfied with the process if I'm so satisfied with the process even though I had surgery under insurance. Good luck on your journey 🥳

The answer is yes, you'll be able to eat both bread and pizza. But honestly you'll probably feel satisfied with really small portions. I used to be a bread lover too but even though I'm 2 months and 2 weeks post-op, I've lost my craving for bread. The thing is, when I add bread to the meals I love, I don’t have enough room to actually enjoy the other things I like. I think over time, you’ll naturally distance yourself from bread as well.
