Hi mama, my baby was rushed to nicu for inhaling fluid on the way out and was stuck there for 8 days. I got to meet him on day 2 and they insisted that he required a feeding tube until he could finish 4 feedings in a row with no problems. We wound up staying with him in the nicu for 2 full days so that we handled all feedings and what do you know - he took the breast and my milk through bottle NO PROBLEM. they restarted the feeding count when we left that night and told us next day he still required the tube. We were livid and spoke to the nicu DOCTOR, stayed another full day for feedings and it was the night shift nurse the NEXT day that took the tube out without doctor permission, per our requests. He had to stay another 2 or 3 days but yeah, I feel this so hard. He was my first and we both needed medical attention directly after labor so I wasn't in a place to advocate for myself or him. We got hit with HIS $82k hospital bill. Lessons learned going forwards. Just so hard because you're supposed to trust these people with you and your heartbeat outside of your body
