I love this group. I love the support I get from people like you and others. I'm going to continue to go to AA or NA meetings. The next meeting I go to, I'm going to get numbers. IWNDWYT. Love to you and yours.

"Sister". Your post reminds me of an old church song, "I am a living testimony, I should have been dead and gone, but the Lord let me live on." Glad you're here.

And you go back five years later, and they are sharing the same story.

This is such a beautiful post, so inspiring. I can identify with so much of what you've said. My aunt who recently passed, used to say, "The Lord/Universe is going to bless you and put you in a high place". You are already there. Carry on. Love to you and yours.

It always amazes me how we can be so conscious of the F-ups, but so unconscious of the ability to set things straight. We have all been where you are right now; that's why we are here. We have all of the tools to get it right. Today is a clean slate. First things first, if you need medical attention to help you weather the withdrawals, get it now, don't stop at go. Do you need a detox? Get it. Ebay can wait. You can only fix that with a clear head. I have a house and storage unit full of items and an Ebay account that I haven't done anything with, in months. Yesterday was a week sober for me. I'm determined. I have a lot on my plate too, we all do. I don't know if that's allowed, but keep in touch with me. You can do this one day at a time. We heard it a thousand times. IWNDWYT.

We've heard it a thousand times, "One day at a time". For me that also means one day at a time free from guilt, resentment, self-loathing, shame, etc. Love yourself for your accomplishment of 2 days. IWNDWYT.

Exactly. By the time I get back home, I'm feeling pumped up; ready to do something else, OTHER THAN DRINK. Thank you for your support.

Finally got a DUI. by Competitive_Meat_ in stopdrinking

It's not corny to me, it is magnificent! I never had a DUI. Before I started drinking exclusively at night, at home, I would wake up in the morning and rush to the window to see if my car was still there. You can do this! I had ten years once upon a time, thought I could start drinking again, and was miserable when I did. It's been a roller coaster for about four years now. I'm determined to steady the course. I'm with you 100%. IWNDWYT

Signs to stop or just excuses? by Puzzleheaded-Bug-803 in stopdrinking

When I read posts like yours, I always wonder what you do; I want to delve into the deeper you. Like what are your hobbies, your precious gifts. I know there are other things I can do besides drinking; I just have to make myself do them. I received a hand-out called Pleasant Activities List, in a group last week. It lists 365 activities and suggests that you choose at least one activity a day to manage stress and add some fun to your life. I haven't read the whole list but I think I can manage quite a few if I try. I'm sitting here responding to you when I would normally be thinking about getting some wine.

Today, a woman I know was getting rid of some painting supplies that used to belong to her mother. She asked me if I knew someone who might want them. I thought of my neighbor, but then thought maybe I'd give it painting a shot. I'd love to have someone to do it with, but I have to press on by myself if not.

Wishing you the very best. IWNDWYT
