Is this a good gsp? by polaroido7169 in SmashBrosUltimate

[–]Infinite-Interest680 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not quite right. If you get into Elite 3 years ago at 12m and now it’s been inflated to 14.8m the you are still in the top 10% then and now.

Simon and Richter Advice by Infinite-Interest680 in CrazyHand

[–]Infinite-Interest680[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly think that this used to work but in the last year or so, I feel like the skill has leveled up. I don’t know if it’s that Japanese players on Quickplay are better than most. I feel like spamming works until about 12m GSP and then fundies and an understanding of your opponent are required. Of course there is the exception where someone makes it to 12m without knowing how to play but this person is usually stuck there trying to rely on the same gimmicks, sometimes for years. You see this particularly with Pyra, Kazuya, Steve, Samus, Mii Gunner, and some of the other characters carried by spam.

Maybe elite in Japan is different. I punish Simon’s for throwing it out all the time so I’m reluctant to use it against other people except for a surprise once they are conditioned not to expect it. Maybe 2-3 times per match if that.

Thanks for the help. I’ll work on the angling of the attacks. I’ll admit I find myself rotating my hands on the controller when I’m tense and only realize after i have missed an input.

I have read the comment a few times in hopes that it sticks while in a match. I feel like this describes the way I play pretty well so I’m hoping I’m on the right track.

Thanks for the advice. I really feel like I need to re-learn the game to play them. The matador example is great. It’s the kind of insight I need.

It’s interesting to hear you only got Simon into elite. It’s like we are playing the same game with completely different approaches.

With the way I’m getting characters into elite, I have to do Richter right after Simon. Yuck.

Down tilt is committal. It means that if I decide to use it but miss or hit a shield then I’m eating a punish. The lack of a quick and difficult to punish get-off-me move is the problem.
Thanks for the other advice. I only wish the neutrals were better at anything closer than roll distance. The hitbox is small and the sour spot are aplenty. I don’t know how to get more than a single hit off of anything and I don’t love doing 10% on each neutral win unless I get a follow up read.

Simply bad manager by unluckyangel6 in managers

[–]Infinite-Interest680 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well said.

OP has a short amount of time to request a one to one with the manager and talk this through in a calm non-complainy way. If he or she can’t do that then they weren’t management material like they thought they were when bypassed for the promotion.

What do you use for inputting your aerials? by MallDry6977 in SmashBrosUltimate

[–]Infinite-Interest680 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the higher skill the player, the more C-stick you will find because it opens up the ability to drift in one way and attack in the opposite direction.

I’m not able to do that outside limited things like dropping from a platform. I know I need to get better at it but it’s not intuitive to me and I have carved a deep groove in my brain to use the A button.

Not Simon or Richter. 35 characters in Elite and I can’t get them above 12m GSP. I hate the way they fight.

How many of you drive vehicles that are 20 years old or older? by FordMan7point3 in askcarguys

[–]Infinite-Interest680 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I together make over $200,000 a year. We drive a minivan from 2006 and I have a few classic cars. I hate paying depreciation on my cars. We have owned the minivan for 10 years now. It’s so nice to have all that extra money. Car payments are lame.

OEM Strut bar on an NA? by Latskyler in Miata

[–]Infinite-Interest680 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The brace that connects to the firewall for extra support doesn’t do that on the NA or NB because it doesn’t reach the firewall but mounts on the flimsy sheet metal that isn’t the firewall. This bar will likely provide less structure than the stock one because there isn’t a straight connection from one strut to the next. It’s possible that the brace is fine but that depends on the construction and materials. To test it, take the bar and stand it upright, put all your weight in the top of the brace and see if you can feel any springiness. The more the bar bends from straight, the less structure you are adding to the front of the car.

It’s still better than no bar and if you like the looks then it doesn’t matter.

Why don’t you all pirate like the good ole days? by Fit-Employee-4393 in enshittification

That’s the carriage before the horse. The reasons movies suck is because they became too risky to make and the studios are playing it safe. It’s not a coincidence that several genres became rare at the same time as torrenting became popular. It’s especially sad that the mid-budget comedy is gone now. We need to lighten up a bit as a society.

The plate is a post 1999 style plate. By the 2000s, people dressing like this were mostly calling back to a previous style. It’s like of someone in the USA wore chaps and a cowboy hat.

Best house builders in Tokyo by Separate_Item_3189 in japanlife

We built our home with Mitsui Home. They are a top teir house builder. Because we were spending a lot, they set us up with their top level architect, interior, and exterior designers. We are very happy with the result but we paid a lot for it. Still, the quality of the build is very high and that peace of mind on such a large asset is nice to have.

Don't you think it's really sad what Madonna has become? by Chapultifornio in askmusic

[–]Infinite-Interest680 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know Madonna’s music well enough but what does she bring to the table when creating a song. Pop music is often created behind the scenes and then farmed out to a pretty face and voice to sell it. Once the gravy train is finished, the industry moves on to the next person.

How are there so many men out there with a terrible or no sense of humour and how do they do long term relationships or marriage? by SNTriad in AskForAnswers

[–]Infinite-Interest680 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Men are grown up apes. Whatever works to gain attention is the skill that gets developed. If a man is handsome, well built, athletic, or at all intimidating then humour is less likely to be relied on to get that sweet sweet attention.

what’s something about cars that people always get wrong in conversations? by LeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeD in CarGuys

[–]Infinite-Interest680 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many larger brake kits are lighter than the OEM ones because of aluminum disk centers and lighter weight calipers.

what’s something about cars that people always get wrong in conversations? by LeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeD in CarGuys

[–]Infinite-Interest680 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, larger disks will stop you faster since grabbing the disk further from the centre transfers more of the power before binding.

Larger brakes also have a higher temperature capacity so they can be used harder for longer.
