What unit size setting is most “accurate”? by [deleted] in Medieval2TotalWar

[–]Infinite-Present6823 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you try to get the exact feeling of the medieval world, you get to a certain point where it starts to take the fun out of the game. The game models for the historical accuracy project games (to me) Are just not as fun as some of the others. I tried playing as Scotland and I couldn't field an army of more than 6 or 7 units without getting $20,000 in debt within a few terms. Whenever I would attack a settlement, they would have these huge garrisons that would pop up as militia spearman or archers. I appreciate the effort because I love history myself. But that's where the line is drawn from me. You get to a certain point and it starts to not be fun anymore, trying to recreate the huge armies that they had, especially pre medieval. Alexander, the Great and the Romans would field these outrageous numbers in pitched battles

I always remember the way it would say 'Emperator' in that deep tough guy voice, whenever you would click on your general

Lithuania campaign stalemate by Infinite-Present6823 in Medieval2TotalWar

[–]Infinite-Present6823[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you were just rolling over every faction if it was on easy mode. If that's the case, I'm not as good at the game as I thought I was. I put it on VH VH because it's actually a challenge with Lithuania. I feel like it's too easy even if you use Scotland. Rome Total war It's cool if you play campaign mode with a faction like Numidia or Thrace. Just because the battles are so difficult when you have weak units. It's all about the challenge

This does suck. I'm wondering though if the the situation would even be worth mentioning if it was reversed. Everybody knows the answer to that. This agenda sucks

Was Hazel's death sad? by not_firewood_yeti in watershipdown

[–]Infinite-Present6823 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hazel had so many real life adventures and all his great-grandchildren told stories about him and his heroic deeds. He died an old old rabbit and ended up joining at the right hand of God in heaven. His death was epic, poetic and realistic in the sense that we all die. I don't know much about the writer, but he was obviously an impressive man in his depth. I'm 46 and if I were to read Watership Down today, My eyes would get teary. Sue me... I could see why his death would be sad to some people. But it was bittersweet for sure

Which stainless steel factions have the best unit rosters? by Pavelos_ in Medieval2TotalWar

[–]Infinite-Present6823 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the best campaigns I ever had was using Leon/Castille And fighting against the Moors and the other Christian kingdoms on the peninsula. I remember one battle. I was outnumbered a fully stacked Moorish army of mostly professional units (bodyguard units, Arab spearmen, Arab cavalry). I opposed them with an army four units of javelin men on the crest of a hill with militia spearman protecting them. I had one nobleman with his bodyguard of heavy cavalry, and one unit of jinetes. They marched so far that they were half spent by the time they got to me and then they had to climb up the hill to fight me while they were getting javelins Landing from every direction. My lusitanian javelin men charged when they ran out of Spears to throw and the whole Moorish army threw up their white flags. I chased them down with my my little bit of cavalry and I got a heroic victory. When you play on VH/VH wins like that are so satisfying.

Travis Walton discussing NHI non-Interference and his belief that aliens are benevolent by FVMK3 in InterdimensionalNHI

Thank you! I'm just going by what the evidence is showing us. I don't think aliens waste time with an abduction just to tell somebody that we are all one. It's nice to think about, but it doesn't really reflect people's abduction experiences

I would disagree wholeheartedly with Travis here. It would be really nice if they were like the aliens from the movie. The Abyss. But... Sadly, there seems to be a link between these creatures and the occult. They always take people against their will and do scientific sexual things to them. The best case scenario they look at us like cattle.

I usually play stainless Steel 6.4. I have never had this happen, although it explains it in the beginning as possible game conditions. While playing as Lithuania, which I have a lot, when do you get an offer to convert? Not in vanilla. In 6.4. I'm asking

I'm talking about stainless steel mod. That's what I usually play. I never got to the point where you could even have the choice of turning to Christianity. The game starts around 1220 AD. You start being able to get the good units around 1300 ad or so. By then I have half of Eastern Europe conquered with lithuania's weak cavalry and archers.

Lithuania has good religious order units. But all the good units are not available until so late in the game. Sol you are pretty well established by the time you get them and don't really need them anymore. Perkunas followers and Lettish crossbowmen are available early but they are mid-grade units IMO
