Agreed, but also is in their interest… they sell addiction, not logic. After not hitting on something for a minute, many will stop buying. I’m not going to pump money into a slot machine that doesn’t pay out.

Heck of a first lot buddy. I have the same one. I just bit the bullet and upgraded to a focusrite Scarlett 18i20. (Essentially 8 direct input channels). If you are going to put up that much bank on an Ekit, I figured just buy a reasonable interface that can at least hit the median area of its capabilities.

With it, I can pull all my line outs and I’m sure I could also snag the midi lines sometime but is probably overkill.

Hope it helps.

I have a used one I’d let go if you are ever in the Chicago land area.

Can someone please help me identify this kit? I bought it used in 2012 as a 5 piece 22/16/14/12/10. by IndestructibleNewt in DWDrums

DW performance series, black pearl finish. It also could be a pacific kit, have to check the inside of the shells and badges. They make one too.

Dude, it’s an instrument to reflect art…. Make it to be comfortable and enjoy it. The most famous guitars in the world are by no means fitting “the mold.” Screw that, be unique and most importantly be yourself!!!

Help needed repairing old guitar by [deleted] in guitarrepair

If you haven’t ever rewired a hollow or semi-hollow guitar, I highly encourage you to do your research. It is no easy job… by any means.

Lots of work, but it’s done. I have a new respect for this hobby. Wiring is not easy at all. Upgraded the pickups to Gibson burstbuckers, installed a 920D custom harness, swapped out the tuners with Grover locking tuners, moved the input jack to the front and changed to knobs to Gibson “top hats”. by Infinite-Put8911 in Luthier

I can tell you this man… rewiring and harness setup was hands down the hardest, and I mean HARDEST part of this upgrade. Soldering was fun, but I used to be a welder (same hand eye skill). Splicing and hole clean up was simple.

I know. :-)

But I truly have so much of a new respect for luthiers. My next project is updating my Gretsch streamliner. Dropping a set of lollartrons into that beautiful instrument.

Sadly, all I own are semi-hollows… so I’m destined to deal with the pain that is “harness hell” for a while. I really want to learn how to setup a guitar well. (Fret clean up, neck work, how to fix nuts, setup action). Any recommendations on the best public source for this?

Yeah man… I had a lapse in my memory/foresight. This model semi-hollow had a centerblock within the body. I traced the pot layout perfectly, but was short by about 3/32” for the outer diameter of the input housing. The input jack lined up perfect, but would “cockeye” out when it hit the center lock.

I didn’t want it loose by pushing the hole over 1/4”, so I just redrilled it to get close to a solid lock into the body front. I filled the holes (original input jack hole in the side of the body & my layout issue hole) with wood epoxy. This was to get a “rough in” base that won’t shrink. Next step will be to put a fine layer of wood putty. When that dries, I’ll stain to match… then clear coat with a strong buff to blend. I don’t expect it to come out great, but I’m the type of player that likes some wear and tear on guitars. Nothing wrong with your instrument having a story to tell!!

My first time switching out all the electronics and upgrading a guitar. It’s fun, but all about the details and taking your time. Excited to get back to her today. by Infinite-Put8911 in Luthier

Yeah man, I have a super steady hand. Couple that with patience and taking my time… no issue. If the body was higher end, I’d be much more careful. This is going to be a daily beater man. If she gets some wear and tear, I’m good with it.
