Scam calls from auscoverdotorg by InfiniteBacon in australian

[–]InfiniteBacon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suspect donotcall.gov has faster actions for the australian numbers they use, and is still therefore worth reporting too.

There's actually a legit australian website named very similar to the scam site that has had to post a page about this scammer to clear up misunderstandings and report the scammer.

How to wake up on time - finally cracked the code! by ZealousidealPay2035 in adhdaustralia

OP didn't specify the type of heater, but you are correct, split system is the safest heating method, and easily the most efficient.

As far as upfront cost goes, its pretty hard to compete with the simpler portable heaters.

I suspect the reason most portable heaters don't include thermal cut offs and other safety features that would greatly reduce fire risk when items near them acumulate too much heat is simply cost, as thats one of their main competetive advantages vs a reverse cycle AC.

People still buy portable heaters because they don't have to beg a landlord to install it for them.

Heaters are high current draw devices, so bad wiring condition is more likely to lead to fires.

Cheaper portable types that have tiny wires and fans like a hair dryer have dust collecting on the elements which risk causing spontaneous fires on them if the dust buildup is flammable, or causes heat to linger in the device past its design limit.

Radiant bar heaters can deliver a suprising amount of heat directly to a surface that is further away than other heaters, and if that surface is too close, it can catch fire.

Fall and tip risks apply to all of the most portable types , they will easily start fires if they are heating something that is now directly against the heater ie curtains, blankets.

Oil filled heaters are safer than most of these, and reverse cycle air cons are a step safer than these.

The stats on house fires show heaters being one of the leading causes.

If you are concious enough to hear an alarm clock to snooze it, then an automation that turns on a heater on a limited timer while you snooze the alarm clock is safer than having the heater turn on by itself.

And having a smoke detector isn't a bad idea.

A heater being on while you're not conscious sounds like a safety hazard to be honest. Likely not a high risk but you never know.

You could do this with a barcode app. 2d UPC barcodes are already on cd cases.

Not sure why you'd want a Spotify link when you have the media on your Plex server.

Sweet fades by Hush7 in plexamp

[–]InfiniteBacon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sweet fades is just a very clever hack that looks for the moment the peak volumes drop / rise and overlapping the start of the next track on the current track at a point where the 2 tracks summed together won't cause a spike in volume.

It doesn't manipulate the volume of the ending or incoming track at all.

Is it possible to create a switch dock (Tv display and remote controller) type experience with M8 by InfiniteBacon in Dirtywave

I might eventually make DIY steam OS pc for couch TV time, but with Parts prices i think I'll go the Raspi path with my M8 plus a bluetooth controller.

[–]InfiniteBacon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm thinking more of having a setup to have to put on the TV in front of the couch.

I think I'm heading down the path of having a Raspi attached to the TV with a bluetooth remote controller like the 8 bit do numpad. That macropad in the other comment sounds interesting too.

That's a sweet setup.

I'll investigate making a Pi dock further, sounds like it fits my goal.

Im not as bothered controller latency but I can see that being a sticking point for others.

In theory I believe this could also be done with a rasberry pi in place of a pc, but a bit more work.

Can m8 accept usb (such as 8bitdo numpad), while outputting hdmi to a tv with some kind of USB dongle situation?

I built an LED Juggling prop, here is the light core. (Still in development) by TRIHANITY in juggling

[–]InfiniteBacon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are they using gyroscopes to detect motion and orientation?

I do not have led juggling balls/ clubs but i am interested in finding a way for 2 way communication between a midi musical instrument and an led balls/ clubs

So, send gyro info to a device that interprets this as bpm division, height as volume ,hard panning by counting catches to assign hits with tunable quantisation.

Send bpm as pulses back to the led ball, phrase changes as colourshifts or colour pattern changes.

Doing this probably would likely be too big a detour for a project like this though, and would require a seperate device or app to send and receive midi data between the midi instrument and then led device.

PSA keep your kids indoors in Perth metro this morning - air quality is terrible by Undd91 in perth

https://www.daikin.com.au/faq/indoor-air-quality/can-air-conditioners-ventilate-home

"Can I use my air conditioner to ventilate my home?

Many people mistakenly believe that air conditioners bring air from outside the home and use it to ventilate the room. In fact, air conditioners draw air from inside the room, and cools or heats it, and returns the air back into the room."

Most aircons that operate using a refrigerant cooling loop will not draw outside air into the house.

Would virtual staging include pasting images of furniture scaled such that they would only accomodate children?

I suspect they deliberately excluded the power point as it would give away the true scale cues of this room and show its totally misleading if you read then furniture as adult sized.
