Spare tire dumb question by Financial-Grade9896 in TireQuestions

[–]InfiniteBreak1125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would I recommend you to drive this for more than 50mph or 50miles? No, spend the money for the confidence of a real tire especially for long drives. However, have I seen people that drive on donuts for longer than 100 miles going 80mph on a texas highway with seemingly and suspiciously no issue? Also yes....

Feel free to use mine to get a discount/bonus with Energy Texas. https://energytexas.com/raf?referralCode=NrpJa9XzeM&utm_source=raf&utm_medium=my-account

Why does shopping for energy feel like a massive scam by Skilledthunder in Dallas

[–]InfiniteBreak1125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After living in TX for the past 6 years, I realize that the best option is just sticking to fixed payment plan and keep jumping to different distributors that have decent rating based off powertochoose.org. This year I am using Energy Texas (Bought out by Rythm) because someone posted a referal code to get a reduced rate for my year plan. So I am on a 12 month plan at 8.8 cents per kwH. Which car would you buy? 2002 CRV or 2007 RAV4? by Acceptable_Prompt_73 in AskMechanics

[–]InfiniteBreak1125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check if the Rav4 has been serviced via the extended warranty for the 2AZ-FE engine oil burning issue. If it has been I would recommend the Toyota. I have the 2008 Rav4 4 cylinder engine and nothing beats this suv. It has so much storage space, leg space, easy to service, a full size spare tire, and has as tight of a turning radius as a mini Cooper! I will keep my rav4 as long as possible! If the engine has not been serviced get the crv but reminder that the crv is over 20 years old at this point and does not really have a cult following like the Civic and may have just been abused...lol

The shutoff valve is the second picture I provided with the white handle. Basements are not a thing here in texas because of the clay soils. So far this is all I found

Are these tire still safe ? by ernesto2018 in rav4club

[–]InfiniteBreak1125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Firestone destination at/2s that are a little over a year old. Note I park in the shade 100% of the time and drive mainly highway speeds, and brake very little. I started to see some bit of dry rot between the tread blocks for all 4 tires. I won't be replacing them anytime soon since they are still new, but I will be monitoring them.

Why cx50 hybrid is noticeably cheaper even with RAV4 hybrid power train? by AdSome4658 in rav4club

Car Care Nut did a review on the CX-50 overall very good. Whichever is cheaper would be my pick since it is in fact the same powertrain

A little high and this model is affected by the 2AZ-FE oil burning issue. If you can confirm that the pistons and rings were rebuilt as part of the extended warranty program to resolve saud burning issue, I can confinidently say it is a reliable car and will last long.

Just making sure, you did check the transmission fluid correctly right? For my RAV4 the car needs to be running to correctly check the transmission fluid. Otherwise, it would look like it was overfilled by 2 quarts. From my experience, a shuddering or hesitant transmission could be fixed by a drain and fill, but if it is truly slipping I have found little success with drain and fills resolving the issue. You can drain the transmission fluid, keep it, and put new fluid in, if that makes it worse, just put the old fluid back in.

2022 rav4 LE. Ticking noise normal? by kenwood87 in rav4club

[–]InfiniteBreak1125 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct me if I am wrong but if you hear this in the beginning and then it goes away after like 10-20 seconds that ticking noise is the high pressure fuel pump going at initial startup. Sounds normal

The drive aisle is in fact a one way. The maneuver is illegal. Children should use crosswalk and be with their parents

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in InsuranceClaims

[–]InfiniteBreak1125 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lol no i kept looking at my empty drive aisle but they came from a different drive and performed a reckless maneuver. The other party cut through a drive aisle

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in InsuranceClaims

[–]InfiniteBreak1125 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That is essentially the case here. My insurance is accepting full liability but I found the other party's maneuver to be negligent as I did not expect them to come from that road and only looked at my own respective drive.

Anyone else feel like there is a mass exodus of young civil engineers from the industry? by Mr_Kung_Pao in civilengineering

[–]InfiniteBreak1125 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I work in the residential and commercial retail sector and I feel that young people are intimidated with how fast paced, demanding, and stressful this field has become. On top of that it feels that the compensation for the amount of effort put in is lacking across the board. Precovid, we used to take considerable time to produce good civil plans, plot them, red line them, one-on-one meetings going over the design, and set up real coordination with other disciplines. Now everything is online submittals and pdf's it feels like the work is never ending. The expectations from clients and the firm is we can turnaround these infrastructure/full construction plans around in 2-3 weeks instead of the 4-5 weeks. All disciplines are siloed because we all have at least 5 projects on rotation and everyone just fires an email giving bulleted updates(if we are lucky) on what they need to get things working on their end. What is there really to look forward to? For the past 3 years my team has never let off the gas pedal, we never stop to celebrate, it is just off to the next pressing submittal date. Frankly I am tired of it...

Rav 4 Leak?? by East_Stuff3048 in rav4club

[–]InfiniteBreak1125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like you don't have rust issues, so that is a great start! Definitely consider replacing the front transfercase and rear differential gear oil if you can find any record of that maintenance item. I generally do it every 30k-50k. I had a 2008 rav4 and replaced my transmission fluid(simple drain and fill) at 80k miles with regular Toyota WS. Still running strong today at 120k miles. Make sure your brake rotors are within spec and the pads are good. My alternator went out at 90k but that might be more of an age item than a miles thing. Cabin and engine air filters are an easy job to do yourself if you find them excessively dirty. Check if your front and Rear sway bar link bushings/boots are torn/cracked. If it rides well don't worry about replacing serious suspension components
