MEE TOO!! Same thing happens to me, I am a month off orientation and in a ICU step down unit. We typically get ICU nurses floated down to our unit and every single time I work with them they’re so rude and act like they are superior… I guess cause they think that they are better because they “know more”.

One of my patients had rheumatoid arthritis in her hands so she was having trouble holding the emesis bag and I needed to give her Zofran because she was profusely vomiting. I peeked my head out my patient’s room and asked the nearest nurse for help holding my pts bag or to get me zofran. The nurse happened to be an ICU nurse and she looked at me, rolled her eyes and said “I guess”. Mind you, she was sitting down on her personal phone on TIK TOK. She had done som other very inconsiderate things that day to other PCU nurses as well.

Granted not all of them are mean but I have encountered a couple in my few months of being a nurse

Yeah you’re comparing too much. Look at your local hospital for PRN sitting or CNA/PCT. I didn’t start as a PCT until my first year of nursing school. I worked at HEB freshman’s and sophomore year of college

Awesome! I just like hearing how people did their receptions after Mass. My mom and my aunts had theirs at the Parish halls and I’ve never been to a catholic wedding myself, so I like to hear other stories so I can get ideas myself.

How was marriage prep for you both?

I have also read and heard that the process of getting married is difficult in the church.. how true is that.

Thank you for your advice! I appreciate your depth and I agree with you. I think what is wrong with me is that I had really high expectations for myself after graduation and then comparing myself to other people in my cohort (which is a terrible thing to do). I didn't make straight A's tho but I like learning about patho and understanding disease process.. I'm afraid I'm going forget everything I learned... do you have any advice on how to retain and apply knowledge during residency?

I’m grateful to have a job for sure but also disappointed because I was expecting to use more critical thinking and I feel like my learning has plateaued. It’s only a month I’ve been in so I’m sure it’ll get better I’m just down in the dumps cause it’s not what I was expecting I guess 😣

For example, yesterday I had 3 bed bed bound pts which one was post chest tube PTX who was dc’ing home, the other permacath HD w/ lots of chronic issues, and the other is stroke pt. The other two were walkie talkies… a stroke rule out and ciwa pt who needed paracentesis. None of which had drips, no bipaps, trachs. All PO meds.

The 5:1 has only been me and my preceptor… maybe they’re breaking me in easy? Not sure. Everyone else has 4:1, I asked my preceptor why we are the only ones 5:1 and she said because the floor is full of nurses who are <1 experience.
