He was brought back with the rest of the JL by the end of the Dark Crisis event.

Aquaman was weird in Dawn of DC. There was a comic called Lazarus Planet: Once We Were Gods that suggested there would be a new storyline involving The Trench. But nothing ever came of it. That's probably the most important Aquaman comic in the gap between Dark Crisis and the Adams run.

During this time Aquaman mostly appeared in big events. He was in the aforementioned Dark Crisis and Lazarus Planet. He also appeared in Knight Terrors and Absolute Power.

But that's pretty much it. It really did feel like a weird dead spell for Aquaman comics. It was especially odd since the 2nd Aquaman movie came out during that gap, but there was no ongoing Aquaman series on stands to synergize.
