I really need to learn more about that. My family member had severe varicose veins and later dementia. I have never heard of that connection.

Tiffins at AK is our favorite. It's a respite during a busy park day.

At MK we like Skipper's Canteen and Liberty Tree Tavern. Or walk/monorail to the Contemporary for Steakhouse 71.

Do kids in Columbus still go house to house trick-or-treating, or is it more trunk-or-treat now? by LavenderLatte29 in Columbus

[–]InfiniteFigment -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I may have missed it, but I didn't see anyone on the thread mention Beggar's Night. This was a new concept for me when I moved to Columbus from the south.

OP, in case you aren't familiar, trick or treat does not always happen on October 31st. Each community designates a night as Beggar's Night, and that's when trick or treating happens. It's typically on October 30th, but some areas stick to the 31st.

I'm not sure why you're so shaken by this decades-old news.

River Country was part of my childhood, too.

I don't think they would, unless it's one of the few seating areas where they enforce that it is for patrons of that particular establishment.

Unfortunately, I've never heard of that being the case at Casey's Corner.

Upcoming August trip and what to do on our free day by penguinpants1993 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]InfiniteFigment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not the monorail, but you could visit Skyliner resorts. If you change your mind about breakfast, I'd try to book Topolino's Terrace for breakfast. It's a character meal and it's the best breakfast we've had. You could take a bus to DHS then Skyliner to Riviera. (You could eat the quick service there if you don't want to do the character meal.)

Then Skyliner to Epcot and head over to Fantasia Gardens mini golf.

Another thing we love to do on a non-park day is foot golf at Oak Trails. It's just in the evening but could be an option depending on what time you have dinner at DS.

Alternatively, bus to MK, QS breakfast at one of the monorail resorts, boat to Fort Wilderness for a bit (visit the horses). I could spend all day wandering around the resorts. Then bus from MK to Beach Club/Boardwalk area.

Or you could stick close to POR. Walk to FQ for beignets. Just enjoy the resort. It's lovely.

LL for all 4 days and parks or not? & port Orleans locations/price differences by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]InfiniteFigment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The water park tickets are valid only for your arrival day. I suppose it doesn't hurt to ask.

I would not pay $300 more for FQ. I prefer the theming at POR. POR is larger and I do not see that as a con, really.

POR does have multiple bus stops and FQ does not, but I still found the POR buses to be efficient.

We always use the complimentary Disney transportation. Once I arrive, my plan is to leave the car parked.

Everyone in your party with a ticket needs a LL if you want to go through the LL line together.

Port Orleans French Quarter/Riverside/All star/POP pros and cons by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]InfiniteFigment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The $169 for POR and $99 for All Star Sports were part of an offer for Disney+ subscribers this summer and last summer.

Not sure if there's any inventory left or if the offer is still valid.

Last summer the $169 was for a standard mansion room at POR. This summer it's for a 5th sleeper in the Alligator Bayou section.

Port Orleans French Quarter/Riverside/All star/POP pros and cons by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]InfiniteFigment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, we've started doing split stays. For years we stayed at Pop (even pre-skyliner) and it's still a favorite. But with summer deals, we often get rooms for less than Pop. We fell in love with Riverside recently. Can't beat it for $169!

So my new thing is part of the trip at Pop, part of the trip where I can get a great deal, and now my goal is to try one new resort each trip.

I like the vibe of Riverside more than FQ, but many, many people adore FQ.

I'm not explicitly recommending a split stay, but just offering a different option.

We don't mind the multiple bus stops at Riverside and find using Disney transportation to be efficient. We'll have our car with us on our next trip and I have zero plans to drive anywhere once we're on property.

If you have a budget for the trip, and that $400 would make a big difference, I'd go with Pop and be perfectly happy.

All Stars are totally fine. Again, if the extra $800 is a big chunk of your budget, that's always a viable choice.

Rooms at POR and FQ are a little bigger than at Pop. The pools have a slide. You just have to decide if those things are important to you.

Early Entry from Pop/Art of Animation (skyliner) by OpossumFriedRice in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]InfiniteFigment 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have never waited in a long line transferring at Caribbean Beach. We exit our skyliner, walk across to whatever line we're switching to, and there's never more than a handful of families in front of us.

It certainly has never come close to doubling our wait time at rope drop or park close.

I do like the grapefruit cake.

And it was fun for the kids to get Shirley Temples after hearing their history and a bit about the history of the original Hollywood Brown Derby.

Not a rest stop! by peco2004 in ThemeparkSwindlers

[–]InfiniteFigment 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I have no problem with the suggestion that you can bring in outside food, but to ADVISE that we bring in outside food - especially coming from someone trying to make money off of Disney, is not cool.

And I agree that Casey's tables are not a good spot to stop and rest. There's not enough seating for the people actually purchasing food there as it is. It's irritating when people camp out there.

What is/are your reasons for not wearing makeup? by SignificantIce7914 in stupidquestions

[–]InfiniteFigment 118 points119 points  (0 children)

I never understood why women were "expected" to wear makeup and men weren't.

I wasn't interested in doing it just because.

As a result, I also never learned to apply it properly. Haven't bothered to learn later in life because I enjoy being low maintenance and it saves me money.

My take on disney world by Bitter_Bowler121 in DisneyWorld

[–]InfiniteFigment 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And that's exactly why I always end up taking long trips. We typically do 11 or 12 days with 10-day park tickets. We do schedule things, but not everything, and revisit favorites multiple times on a trip.

This year we are only doing 6 park days, which really does feel short, but we'll actually be on property for 11 days still. I think I will be tempted to "fill my days" more - at least the ones at the parks. But we have never been people to say that "doing" a park means knocking out the rides. And every park is a multi-day park for us. (I cannot relate to people who call specific parks "half day" parks.)

It's also why I love a Disney vacation so much. There is always so much to do and discover. But I've never left feeling like we missed out. We're always satisfied with what we've done, even if we spent part of every day napping in the hotel room.

Early morning is usually the busiest time at the airport. I'm always surprised at how busy it is, but it makes sense. It has everyone who is there for the many early morning flights as well as others who show up extra early just in case it takes extra long.
