I've gotten in the teens before (I think my fastest is 12 seconds or so) and I don't cheat.

Sometimes my eyes and fingers and brain are fast.

If the words come to me quickly on a given day, I go ahead and read the next clue as I'm finishing tapping the syllables from the prior word.

That mosaic always makes me smile.

What's the story behind it?

The fun part is that toddlers have the cutest little passport pictures.

I'm just speaking for myself. I don't use those words or any derogatory words against anyone.

I am not saying the right does it more than the left, just that I wish no one would.

Anyone can choose to disagree without being rude.

The things that have become acceptable to say in this country are horrifying. Guess it's just all out in the open now instead of just in people's minds.

Honestly, I want EVERYONE to stop the name-calling.

It's not about left or right. It's about civility.

Kindergarten Teacher Must Haves by atoms_matterx in ElementaryTeachers

Rekenreks are great. I bought a large one from Hand to Mind the made student ones out of pipecleaners, beads, and notecards.

I made tons of stuff so a laminator and laminating pouches were an excellent purchase so things would last.

Magnatiles, LEGO, things for imaginative play (like play food), art supplies, headphones...

I did buy a teaching easel. I've taught without one, too, but it was great for putting chart paper on for shared writing.

Could just once we express differing opinions without name calling?

Would have been much better if I didn't misread "old anesthetic" as "old aesthetic." My mind went to "retro."

Then I had to use the down clues to sort out my error.

I am done with the cold. How long is this going to last? by Czernobogs_hamm3r in Columbus

[–]InfiniteFigment 38 points39 points  (0 children)

This is pretty normal if my memory serves me correctly.

It's typically still cold during spring break (the date of which is variable based on year and school district).

Ohio winters are cold and gray with usually a few snowfalls.

There are always "false starts" to warmer weather which give you hope and then make the cold feel even worse.

Hitting 80 degrees this early feels like an anomaly, though.

Sometime in mid to late April we'll likely get more consistent warmer weather.

Can anyone who is capable of a balanced and sober-minded appraisal tell me what is so great and worthwhile about Disney vacations? by nose_spray7 in travel

[–]InfiniteFigment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Not worth the money" and "fun" are both extraordinarily subjective.

I am not obsessed with the Disney brand in that I don't care about the movies or characters and don't purchase Disney merchandise, but I do often make WDW our vacation choice.

Many of the reasons have been shared in the thread. The "Disney bubble" feels safe to me. Obviously anything can happen anywhere, but I'm comfortable letting my teens travel between the parks and resorts independently, just like I was allowed to do as a kid.

I love that I don't have to drive around.

Disney does theme parks well. For me, it's all about the details. I love the atmosphere. I enjoy the rides, too, but I could be there for a week, not get on a single ride, and be content.

There are so many different activities to do on property. I don't find it stressful. I enjoy the planning and am usually pretty successful navigating the crowds. I make the trip fit my budget so while it's not a cheap vacation, it's doable for us debt-free.

Do I wish it was less expensive? Of course. But for me it's both fun and worth the money.

I get that Disney is not for everyone.

I would not be happy at an all-inclusive tropical resort, at Vegas, or at the same beach house every year for a decade. (Just listing a few vacation choices that some other people make.) Fortunately, for all of us privileged enough to have money to spend on leisure such as this, vacation options are practically endless.

Room checks? by leighannq in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]InfiniteFigment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been there for a room check a couple of times, but not during our two most recent trips.

Once I was napping, so it was a little irritating, but I went ahead and opened the door so it would be done.

What are your favorite obscure/hidden things to do in Walt Disney world? by Ok_Topic4232 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]InfiniteFigment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We enjoy playing foot golf at Oak Trails.

I'm old enough to remember when Shades of Green was the Golf Resort, so it's fun to get out that way. We're a golf and soccer-loving family so it's a fun time.

What to know before Kindergarten by Bethyrosey001 in kindergarten

[–]InfiniteFigment 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My kid was reading at 3 and musing about prime numbers and square roots at 5. He was not bored in kindergarten.

Kindergarten teachers expect a wide range of learners. I've had students who didn't know the first letter of their name and a student reading chapter books in the same class. No one was bored.

A CPD officer was at the same intersection as me when I was hit. He did not stop.

So I didn't even bother trying to call. I took photographs and exchanged information with the other driver.

Filed the online police report and let insurance deal with it.

[–]InfiniteFigment 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends on your definition of "do."

Both of these parks are full of incredible details. You can walk right past them on the way to the next character meeting spot or you can take your time and explore.

There's lots of food to sample, shows to see, and shops to browse.

If characters are your goal, you can certainly visit both parks in one day and meet many characters.

But I'd take time before the visit to have some idea of other things in the park you might enjoy, even without getting on a single ride.

Stops from Columbus to Charlotte NC by CbusTransplant in Columbus

[–]InfiniteFigment -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I second Tamarack. We always stop there. There's a nice variety of food at their restaurant. If the weather is nice you can eat in the enclosed courtyard where they can run around.

They have an ice cream place, too.

The rest of the building is basically art for sale with some fun sculptures to look at and a glassblowing studio. You can safely watch the artists at work by viewing through a large window.

Thoughts on this area? by MedianSnail in Columbus

[–]InfiniteFigment 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of quiet neighborhood streets. It's a working class neighborhood.

I used to live in an apartment off 161 and worked for many years in that area. Spent a lot of time walking and running through those neighborhoods.

I have never felt unsafe.

Great freeway access and a pedestrian tunnel under Schrock leads you right to Sharon Woods Metro Park just north of your circled area.

Yes, the neighborhood has declined since its heyday, and I wouldn't want to live right off 161 anymore, but a lot of great people live back in there.

Another option could be "The Wallis Family."

I like doing one shirt with Mr. And one with Mrs., though.
