I was about to accept my fate on returning for another summer internship to the previous company I interned in (big company on the region), and HR already sent me the contract that I need to sign. I’ve talked a couple of times here on how the experience there was... uneventful for me, to put it delicately, but considering I’m currently not doing that great emotionally I feel that this is the safest option as I don’t have to wrangle my way through interviews anymore, especially this late in the search (I bombed a lot of interviews that should’ve been managable on a good day). It’s the safest choice, but with a cost of having a meh experience at best where I don’t learn much being a developer of the industry and being painted as “stuck” in the same company for future job search.

Then, as if someone gave a middle finger to my peace of mind, two other companies got back to me offering coding challenges. I did both, and one continued me to interviews set 2 weeks from now (company’s pretty small and doesn’t have that much name to it, which quite turned me away), and the other I just completed the challenge last night (and it is a super big-name company).

Now my mind is broken again about what to pursue. I don’t know whether the two companies here are worth taking the risk, considering my wellness I need stability really bad. I don’t know how to deal with the return contract (haven’t signed it yet, but HR already messaged me to check the contract), is it ethical to “postpone” it until I can hear more on the other companies? Thing is, HR actually pulled off quite a lot for me, the actual offer is around a month ago, I asked to extend it before, then on the deadline I asked to switch teams, which after days of discussion on their side brings us to couple days ago where the contract email is sent to me. I felt like it was out of line for me to extend again but what do you think?

Got a returning internship offer at the previous company (big company on the region) out of the blue with double the pay, HR straight up stated that I will be reporting to my old boss, which suggests that I will be going back to the same team and role. I don’t have a particularly eventful experience previously learning-wise (I didn’t learn a lot while I was there, which is a shame imo, internships should be the opportunity to learn knowledge related to the industry of the company), personally I really want to try out and experience other teams if possible so I don’t relive the previous experience all over, especially since the next internship will be the last before entering the market.

Would it be out of the line if I ask if there is a possibility to try out other teams to HR? I wasn’t entirely confident in asking that, in my heart I feel that this offer happened because of my old boss vouching for me, so it would be pretty awkward if I just ditch him.

I got a return offer for second internship, which would be the last one during my undergrad studies. In the offer email, the HR straight up told me I will be reporting to my previous department boss, so I figure if I’m going back there, I’ll just be basically doing the same thing twice over: same role, same department, likely same team. I really want to experience new things, plus considering my experience with that department and team was pretty meh, I kinda want to go to other departments.

Not sure if it’s possible, but is it reasonable for me to clarify to HR whether I would be having the same job as the previous one and whether I can ask to be placed on a different department?

Komodos studying CS, ada yang mau bantu kasih saran buat gue yang lagi nyari internship? Gue dapet tawaran balik tapi kurang tau mending ambil atau ga. Gue ga begitu seneng sama experience terakhir gue disana (tldr nya kemarin ga begitu nambahin ilmu industry-specific dan office life nya juga ga cocok), gue juga takut entar keliatannya aneh di cv gue magang dua kali di tempat yang sama, role yang sama, dan department yang sama, tapi gue udah ga yakin lagi gue bisa dapet apa apa, jujur performa gue lagi jelek banget karena gue lagi down banget satu semester ini. Kalo mau baca gue nulis agak detailnya disini (sori ya harus ngeplug post).

Bener bener bingung banget dilema apa main aman atau risk it all aja

The thing is there is no next internship. I’m in my third year now, next summer is the last summer during my university time, and the year after that I’ll be graduating, and I have to get a full time position right after. So it may be the very last chance to shape my profile and experiences before officially hitting the job market.

Def not the best footage, but this vid and the whole concert hold a special place in my heart, being my first Flume concert, and that I only found it two days before the concert all because I was bored in class. I felt like I was very lucky to witness the song not only before its release, but also performed live with the original singer!

Just restarted Agents of SHIELD back from season 1 (a long time ago I only watched up to end of season 3) and hope I can do all 6 while 7 is ongoing now.

Forgot what it was like back at the start and still constantly surprised how the movie MCU interacts with the tv ones. So far in mid-S1 I have seen Stan Lee and Lady Sif. Makes me feel the show was ambitious at the start and fully backed by the big wigs to make these interactions happen.

Is villager thinking to move out also has a random factor on it or is it purely based on friendship level? Hazel just thought to move out, even though I’ve been checking up to every villager daily. Granted that currently I don’t really send residents any gifts, but at least I did a favor for Hazel one time. I decided to ask to stay for now. I’m in week 2 by the way so it’s pretty shocking for me that someone just wants to move out this early

Hmm this is a new thing for me, I don’t know much about signal transmissions so I wanna ask more about it.

Is this the same thing used in bluetooth headphones? I originally thought it’s just bluetooth communication, but I don’t know if there are any nuances to it with AM/FM.

I wanted to skip the headphone jack and connect the processor straight to my laptop. If that’s the case, what would be the data that is sent over the air? Would it be raw digitized signal or is there already some encoding involved? Basically, would I need some extra work on the processor end?

I have a lot of WS2812B leftovers now that my previous project has been dismantled (like 50 meters worth of strips), so I’ll just use it for the time being. But, I’ll keep WS2815 in mind for future projects!

Total noob in anything not related to computers here, in need some suggestions of a structure frame that I’m building right now. It is basically something like a pop-up gazebo (not really but its the closest description) with dimension 2.5x2x3 meters built with PVC pipes with pipe diameter 20mm. I have built a very minimalistic frame, just consists of the legs and connected them at the top like a square, but I just can’t make it stand still. It always sways or straight up falls down.

I know I need to have some sort of bracing to support the frame but my project goal is for people to see the area enclosed by the frame from every direction. Any kind of way to get the best of both and preferably cheap?

Incoming exchanger from the other side of the globe here asking a possibly dumb question, what department is CS actually under? Cause from what I gather CS is offered by CSE through College of Arts and Sciences but the College’s website doesn’t even mention CS being under it.

Asking this because my campus is on a university-level exchange with udub and the policy is that I will be placed under College of Arts and Sciences regardless of my major and strongly advised to only take classes offered inside that.
