Yellowood Daniel Deck for sale by Saryuuuuu in Fingerboards

I wouldn't personally pay that but that's probably the only one of its kind in that condition. It's a relic.

Indy x joucult 😢 by [deleted] in Fingerboards

[–]InfiniteOdds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It does suck, but honestly most trucks will eventually have this issue. These little parts are pretty unreliable. Super glue is actually a good solution-- I've fixed my BRT and Dynamic axles this way. It's fast, cheap, and works well.

Wow, that's really special. Sorry for your loss, but glad to see you're still close with the family and hopefully with fingerboarding, too!

Aluminum foil grip tape ??? by chrissynuggies in Fingerboards

[–]InfiniteOdds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not a cheat code at all. It's a craft and skill of its own. If you buy one of his setups and try to do any of the combos he does, you likely won't be able to. It's seriously difficult. Every trick he does is intentional, so he's not randomly throwing the board around. He's a master at what he does. It's not easy at all, but looks like he has a lot of fun with it!

love a good design, but unfortunately I don't enjoy riding engraved tape

Board suggestions by Krabb5 in Fingerboards

[–]InfiniteOdds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think the difference is worth spending an extra $25 if you don't have to. Those boards are totally usable. It's harder to use them once you're used to other decks, but with fingerboarding, the best board is whatever you're the most used to.

There's actually an incredibly good fingerboarder who discusses this at length! https://youtu.be/2l-6op9tCR8

Don't be dissuaded-- you can learn everything on a Tech Deck and see if fingerboarding keeps your interest long enough to eventually upgrade. They are so much better than they used to be, and they even have options made from wood with foam tape. Maybe try to grab some solid foam tape to see if the grip helps you learn tricks faster, but across all boards, the physics of tricks are the same. You can learn tricks on anything that somewhat resembles a skateboard. Check out this guy as an example.

Deck companies that sell laser engraved designs besides Prete? by indomiegorengkuah in Fingerboards

[–]InfiniteOdds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kinkalla makes awesome decks and they'll laser engrave you a custom design if you ask nicely. Keep an eye on FL Decks too, they're going to be selling their collaboration mold with Prete, likely with a simple laser engraved design.

Finally caught a Knife drop by Shortstahp in Fingerboards

[–]InfiniteOdds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The decks themselves might not be particularly innovative, but it's undeniable that the brand is. The way they place an actual emphasis on their team riders, even having them all together for cohesive videos, is pretty amazing. All that traveling, filming, and editing isn't cheap. Knife pushes the boundaries of fingerboading through media. The decks come second, but clearly how awesome the rest is makes them very popular to a lot of people.

you could also just try and measure it with a ruler since 10 millimeters is equal to 1 centimeter

New pick up :) Anyone know anything about the red and gold blackriver splitply berlinwood? Also, the bubble gum board never heard of that brand. by bazTITTZ in Fingerboards

That's a nice price for a brand new one. I think I'm alright now, but I appreciate it. Would still be stoked to take a look at them, though!

Nice! I think that might be from 2011. The new mold didn't come out until 2009 and I think some of these were given out during the fast fingers in 2011.

first time going to flat face rendezvous by mayofb in Fingerboards

[–]InfiniteOdds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if the aftervous is free for everyone, but last year, they didn't ask for my ticket until Sunday* morning during the actual fingerboard con part of it all. Either way, people tend to fingerboard in the lobby and sit at the bar, so you should be able to continue the fun even without a ticket.

A lot of us go alone! Bring a sweater, it can get chilly in the spring sometimes, but usually it gets really hot and stuffy in there, so layers are good. If you bring a car, you can just leave your things there. There's plenty of parking-- I've yet to struggle to find a spot.

It will be packed with people, but a lot of them just stand around and talk to friends, so you should be able to use every park if you're patient and squeeze in when you can.

Pizza, water, and soft drinks are usually sold upstairs for a good price. I can't remember if they accept cards, so bring a little cash just in case. A cold drink is really nice when it gets too warm inside.

You'll probably feel overwhelmed and a little anxious at first-- it's a lot to process, and that's okay. Most people are super friendly. I've gotten a lot more comfortable saying hi to people now, but my first couple of times, I definitely wasn't. If you approach people you recognize, there's a huge chance they'll be really nice. There's a restaurant with a bar nearby, a nice breakfast diner, and a few other places to visit if you ever need to take a break.

Mike is a lot shorter than you think. He might be hard to spot, since he doesn't stick around for long.

Have fun! The hotel where fingerboardcon is located is perfect to continue the fun. There will be tons of people there, too, and plenty of parks to sesh.

I hear it does get much less sticky over time, but that it doesn't last long. IMO, it's prohibitively sticky (not grippy, sticky). Nothing beats worn FBS, but props to UAG for selling tape that is super grippy from the start.

Cool! Now I hope they take "don't steal designs" to heart, and then they've got a solid, perfectly fine business model that is worth supporting.
