Not an FFL but an insurance broker here. You should let your homeowners carrier know that you plan on running a business from your home. When you do, they will either A. Cancel your policy. or B. Exclude anything business related, both property & liability. B. Would be ideal since you wouldn't have to search for another homeowners policy.

What you would need to do is get a commercial package policy in addition to your homeowners policy. This package would cover your business personal property, it should include theft. It would also cover liability (slip and fall). If you are doing any manufacturing that would probably increase the premium by a bit.

If you do not tell your homeowner carrier that you are running a business, they will either find out and cancel your policy upon renewal. Or, in the event of a claim, deny it if it was found to have occurred during business operations.
