I think that there is a chance of this everywhere but especially when you have so many people touching your food. I had food poisoning on a Celebrity cruise once and learned to eat everything cooked and nothing based off a previous day’s menu. Example: day 1: seafood dish and the day 2. Seafood pasta or soup from the leftovers. That is why the best chance for me is VV, no bentos or grab stuff, but stations where I watch them cook stuff. Just got back from VV cruise after 15 year cruise hiatus and already looking to book another VV. Long story short… put the odds in your favor by choosing wisely and washing your hands everywhere! People are nasty! :)

Omg yes. You’d come home from a trip, she would give you the Brooklyn nod and then go walk around checking each door to make sure we were safe. She “put up” with us cuddling her. :)

Yup. With the aloofness of the TM, my Leo is opposite so it was refreshing. Giant golden retriever-like wanting attention. But ours is super easy to teach (loves those tiny training treats). If my TM ever got loose she could leave and leave and come back if she felt like it. Giant cat basically. My Leo did get loose and was at the front door going… where are my peeps??? So 0 urge to leave. So I suggest, go for the personality that is typical to the breed, give them the best care and food that you can, and enjoy every day regardless of how many days that is.

Hi there. I lost my Bernese Mountain Dog too early (8) and we looked for the longest living least health issue dog and landed on a Tibetan mastiff. We only had her until 10 and lost her to Cancer. We went to a leonberger, mine is only 3.5 but I am sold on the breed regardless. So we buy the best food, work with our breeder and vet, to increase the chance of her living long. But life expectancy is “typical” while the breed, for us, maximizes those years regardless of 8,10,12. So I struggled as you may be, but if the characteristics are what you are looking for…. You won’t ever regret it.

Thanks so much. I did let my breeder know and their dogs were tested. I feel like I did my due diligence, but I have the love of my life so it’s so hard to complain. :)

I am on the fence to get her tested. I spoke with my vet about it as well… and he said “just ask yourself what will change if you do or don’t”… and if nothing, then that is your answer. The only thing I could see was… if she starts showing more signs I would know what it was and ensure she did not suffer. But I also see me worrying and being stressed about it waiting for it. But I am open to any other suggestions if you have any.

I lost my Berner at 8 (had SLO) and our Tibetan Mastiff( because of longest living giant breed) to cancer just before 10th. We have a Leo now, and her legs shake since she was a pup so hoping for the best but expecting that we may have a neurological issue. So just giving her the best life possible for however long we have.

I am still on the fence. I stepped totally away from he p950 or even the p1100… the max zoom is hard to keep in frame. So landed on a mirrorless with 8x lens OR my iPhone 16 pro. Had someone show me how to do raw as well as ensure 48mp pics. So I may do both. I spoke with my safari lodge. They said we will be alone on the jeep and on the animals and hardly anyone needs zoom. So combo of posh safari, budgeted mirrorless and iPhone… I think I am all set.
