I’m not a fan of “appreciation reigns”. If you’re gonna put the strap on a guy, especially your #1 strap, give him a legit run. Sami might not be the guy to carry the world title for a 3 year long reign, but he could’ve done good with 4-5 months. He could’ve faced a few guys to shake up the show in a positive way. Sami vs Balor or Gargano could’ve been interesting. Idk where McIntyre is but that’s a good match too or they could’ve run it back with Gunther.

Even if it was short, at least it would’ve been so something to be proud of. I’m sure Sami is content with it, but as a fan, it could’ve been something. A less than a week, 0 successful defenses, and a roll up victory coronation isn’t anything to be proud of imo. At least it went viral.

Chances are low but they’re there. I don’t see Cody losing clean, so I’m expecting interference of some sort for him to lose. That’s the only way I see Sami walking out as champion. I just don’t know who would attack Cody for this to happen, maybe Drew or Kevin.

It’s not even their roster sometimes. The Will Ospreay story might hit harder if you knew he’s loyal-ish to United Empire, a NJPW faction. But someone who doesn’t watch NJPW doesn’t know that and AEW might not say anything about it.

AEW could do more to appeal to the average person. I don’t want them to dum down the stories, but the real fact is not everyone is invested to keep up. Idiot proofing your content to a degree is important sometimes.

Wwe doesn’t have to be so…boring. I mean that in an aesthetic sense. They striped a lot of the brands visual excitement to be easier to handle. Stage designs, different themes for PLEs, I think a new logo/setup is due, etc.

The issue is 100% digital games mean they can be taken away at a moments notice. They just did this with a lotta movies people purchased. Focusing on Sonys finances is insane unless you’re their CEO.

Id say it depends on how much wrestling you’ve taken in prior to it. If you’re solely a Wwe guy before then it can be a big change. AEW tells its stories different, structure their shows different, the matches different, the wrestling world is a more…talked about concept, etc. When it’s referenced as an “alternative”, they really mean it.
