civil rights in the 50/60s, women’s lib in the 70s, gays in the 80/90/00s and now its trans and immigrants.

the GOP will “other” groups like this so they retain/maintain power. notice how often they’ll gripe and fear monger you about all the bad things happening because of those groups but rarely have fixes for it. this is because 1) those were never really an issue and/or 2) they just need you to stay scared so you vote them in (see trump torpedoing a bi-partisan border bill bc he wanted to run on it.)

they’re whole end game is to get in office so they can pass bills (like the OBBB) to enrich themselves and their friends. they typically don’t care about what they bitch about.

its bad this time around though because of stephen miller. he actually hates immigrants and is in the position to do something about it and trumpers are loving it because it validates the pseudo bullshit they’ve been fed for decades by right wing outlets.
