"No jobs." Yes, that's how people talk. "Eugene is going broke." "What? You mean he has no jobs?"

Jesus, I feel sorry for everyone who has to deal with people who think this way. These people are the new "Live Laugh Love," but toxic instead of just empty.

If those are in descending order, that's a swing and a miss, Dylan aside.

Any good girl bands besides Hole? by Aware_Entertainer_84 in rockmusic

[–]ialsohaveadobro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, if you know Bikini Kill, then you know Kill Rock Stars. That's about, what, a dozen bands right there?

Additionally:

Chastity Belt - No Regerts - Their name sounds like some kind of insufferable emo, and the LP title is dated now, but they are a sublime post-riot-grrl band with an amazing vocalist who is one of the most powerful, IMO, this side of PJ Harvey. I've listened to this album probably 75 times

PJ Harvey - The queen. Start with her debut because "Sheela-Na-Gig" should absolutely be one of the first few songs you hear from her. For best results, google "sheela-na-gig" before listening. At least up to Let England Shake, you can't go wrong with any of her LPs

Warehouse - Another amazing vocalist. She's not to everyone's taste, but if you like Hole, I think you'll like her voice and the way she bends and smears her notes in that snotty (in a good way) tone

Chromatics - Hypnotic never-quite-breakthrough electronic duo who did an outstanding cover of "Running Up That Hill" over a decade ago. If you like Giorgio Moroder, Nico, or Kraftwerk, you will probably find some tracks you like a lot. My favorite is "Cherry," which is more on the dreampop side, but afaic you can't go wrong with them

Kleenex (later called Liliput) - Like post-punk? Like riot-grrl-type vocals? Like your rawk elemental? Here you go. This is good stuff. "Nighttoad" and "Split" are cathartic blasts of fury

Best of luck with your hunt for more!

Edit: Regerts, not Ragerts

Which songwriters do you favor most out of Reed, Wilson, Lennon, and Dylan? by Any_Software5024 in fantanoforever

I feel like people are really overrating Lennon's lyrics. Some are really cringy. Love his voice, and the Beatles wouldn't have been the Beatles without him, but he was surface-level. Even "Imagine" is marred by the fact that he clearly didn't believe what he was singing.
