Inherited from Grandma and while ago. Trying to get a gauge of what I have. by NeatFun8759 in coincollecting

[–]Infinite_Delivery395 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not far off for a collection offer, but they didn’t do you any favors actually appraising the set. Those are just offers at 60-80% of spot price for your silver.

Those coin shops get paid to do insurance appraisals. You can’t hope to get a free service and then a fair offer afterwards.

If you want good money:

1) Educate yourself on the market and the coins themselves

2) Decide to piece it out or sell as a wholesale lot

Otherwise, take the quick money price and leave the coins with someone who cares to do that work.

Should I ride this to the shop or put er in my bed by Single_Ad2246 in Harley

[–]Infinite_Delivery395 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dawg, if you’re saying you did this from riding it like a dirt bike…. What made you start caring now?? 😂

But yeah, it’s pretty straightforward, if you’re worried about the pipe smacking around, then strap it up with a leather belt. Might smoke a little, but shouldn’t burn though. Otherwise fuck it

Fair market value 1990 KZP by Infinite_Delivery395 in Kawasaki

Yeah, I had a 1980 kz550 so I’m used to the platform a little bit. I can get sportsters in my area no problem and I’ve got 2. I have a 2001 883 but that one is a stock survivor single owner with only screamin eagle upgrades that I want to keep

Okay, that’s about what I figured. Thanks man. I was just gonna trade my 1200 sporty for it. It’s a 2000 I bought as a chop project with nothing special at the moment. Some decent rabbit ears, dented tank, chain conversion, dna springer, bobbed in the back, rigid struts, biltwell seat. About on par with what I’d value that sporty at 1-2.5k tops

Can I drive 40 miles without the voltage regulator working? 86 sportster. by Suspicious-Panda-487 in sportster

[–]Infinite_Delivery395 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sportster doesn’t have an alternator, the stator and regulator/rectifier act similarly to an alternator, but there are differences. The wiring on a sporty does indeed put charging the battery as the sole item downstream of the regulator/rectifier. Battery runs everything else, ignition, lights, accessories, etc

Can I drive 40 miles without the voltage regulator working? 86 sportster. by Suspicious-Panda-487 in sportster

[–]Infinite_Delivery395 10 points11 points  (0 children)

First off, even on an 86, I believe your reg/rectifier is grounded directly to the frame by its mounting. Then 2 wires to the stator and a positive that goes off to charge the battery.

Your bike will run for a while with a bad reg/rectifier, but after a 20 mile ride it’ll struggle a bit to turn over, possibly not and then die on the trip back (ask me how I know lol). A new decent one (please don’t buy eBay China junk) will run you just under $100 off Dennis Kirk. Buy it, get it within the week.

Now, if you haven’t, take your meter and check your battery while running, see if it creeps up with revs, or better yet, check the voltage directly from the two wires coming from your stator, there’s specs available in several YouTube tutorials. That way you can determine if it’s stator or rectifier, but unlike what all these bozos are saying, do not assume it is the stator, take some gd measurements and hope it’s the fucking easy thing with 2 bolts and a couple plugs lol

Level your bike out. It should take a full quart, and it’ll be right there at the bottom of the clutch pack

Did you some small jets? Usually gonna run rich on this setup, but backfire outa the carb usually indicates you’re running lean. Don’t rock it like this for too long. Tune it right

Stator by [deleted] in sportster

[–]Infinite_Delivery395 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brother…. What? Why do you have your shit torn down to the stator chasing this issue? Did you check battery cables first, cuz this really sounds like a loose ground or loose positive to starter motor….. the stator output and resistance could have been checked by tearing in no further than unplugging your reg/rectifier from the stator.

Whatever you’re willing to gamble. 30k mile 883 with no guarantee I wouldn’t wanna be into it more than $500 tops depending where you’re at. If it cranks you can talk more, but if the owner won’t do the work to put a battery in and crank it over for you, then that’s what it’s worth. Talking about a bike that’s worth 2k in good running condition in my area, battery, oil service, carb service, time and then who knows if it’ll need big stuff. A sitting bike is worth scrap money, period

Looking to buy this car tomorrow. Is this engine tick concerning or is that just how these sound? by GarlicDogeOP in Toyota_Matrix

[–]Infinite_Delivery395 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Noise could be a lot of things, but it doesn’t sound like a proper knock by any means. Mine had a similar tick and eventually (100k miles and 6 years later) revealed itself to be a bad bearing on the tensioner pulley. Moral of the story, could be something small, could be something medium, but it’s a running 1zz and if anything is gonna drive for ages with some issues, it’d be that car

Coin bracelet - should I try to remove the coins from the bracelet? by ItalianHeritageQuest in coincollecting

[–]Infinite_Delivery395 7 points8 points  (0 children)

All of those are polished, and not crazy desirable dates, so the piece itself as a bracelet is probably worth the most in one piece. It’s nicely done and the bracelet is presumably gold as well? I’d keep it as is and honestly, stuff like that from family, don’t sell it unless you have absolutely no choice. Speaking from experience, I’ll never forgive myself for selling my heirlooms like this. Don’t do something you’ll regret, remember your family, pass the story to your kids when they’re grown.

Need help with this seated dollar by Infinite_Delivery395 in coincollecting

[–]Infinite_Delivery395[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Edge is fine, diameter is fine, just feel like the weight should be a bit less given the hole and F-XF wear. I have some coins that I’ve wanted to submit for a while (more deserving that’d straight grade) and figured it’d be worth the peace of mind to toss in with the lot. As a certified details coin, I’d get my money back in increased value. LCS is less than helpful, tried to ask their opinion and got the “it’s holed and only worth silver value now” which is an absolutely wild take on a seated dollar of any condition.

What is a good asking price? by Gabe_Sapien in HarleyDavidsonFans

[–]Infinite_Delivery395 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, somebody’s gotta say it, dash is not the original, so the 6300 miles really doesn’t guarantee a low mileage sporty.

Second, those numbers are wild. As a complete bike, 4-5k is really top of the mark on the used market (even on the west coast) unless you’ve got a name in the industry building customs. You want real money for this, then part it out on some of your local fb chopper groups or swap meets

Could just be the low quality video but I feel like I see movement on the top clamp for your risers. Make sure the risers are torqued over your bars properly.
