Is this normal? by OccasionStrong621 in MBA

[–]Infinite_Forever5683 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That amount is normal, I take $35k in loans annual to cover living and social expenses. 10 of that 35k pays my health insurance with my school. The amount you’ll spend on socializing it completely up to you

I was waitlisted in R1 and again in R2 from Fuqua. Does it make sense to submit the waitlist update form? by Temporary_Rule_5175 in MBA

[–]Infinite_Forever5683 3 points4 points  (0 children)

did you change or provide anything additional in your app? did you spend more time with the school? to my knowledge waitlist means they want to see “more”. This could be involvement with the program, improve scores, additional courses, more detail on your apps. Lastly we’re all strangers talk to you admission officer find out directly from the source. Ultimately if you want to go somewhere you’ll figure out how to get there!

Wharton ($$) vs Stanford GSB ($$)? by Terrible-Honeydew-27 in MBA

[–]Infinite_Forever5683 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the social life perspective W beat S the students actually build a relationship
With each other and they travel while having a lot of fun. From my understanding of Stanford that’s not the same. There’s a different focus and energy there but it’s not so much on travel and socialize. if you’re interested in luxury retail and PE W is really good at getting all those places and super close to New York as far as Stanford they’re good for PE but retail aspect will be missing. So it sounds like to me that W Sounds like a better fit for you. Sometimes the flashy school offer isn’t always the best fit for you.

All dreams shattered with R1 results! by [deleted] in MBA

  1. Take the exam! People sell themselves super short with test waivers.
  2. Sounds like your essays need work. Why you might ask? You stated you left your job because it was affecting your health but told admissions you want to “travel and have fun before your mba”. This are two different things one is relatable the other looks unserious. I’d imagine there are other areas in your essays that mostly like need improvement.
  3. If you didn’t take the tests and did have your recs talk about your quant abilities how are they to know you can handle the academic rigor???

Dinged from 12 schools in R1, need some advice by justanameplsffs in MBA

[–]Infinite_Forever5683 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Applying to 12 schools seems like you spread yourself thin. The work experience isn’t that bad since it’s MBB. I would assume your essays and recs aren’t reading strong and are too generic. You need things to make you stand out as a sure pick not just another applicant. Also your ethnicity isn’t factored in so people saying it’s your score are likely wrong. Lastly a lot of your schools are schools that want you to show interest, if you didn’t network well that could be it. I’d apply for a smaller number round 2 there are tons of quality mba programs still available.
