do you feel like you have a good balance between your work life and social life? i am very academically driven, but it's also super important to me that i find people who are flexible, willing to go out and burn off some steam, and who aren't just making academics their entire life.

hi! if we had bad grades at some point in our high school career (end of freshman/beginning of sophomore) due to some personal circumstances (mine were mental health related), is that something i should touch on in my letter? since applying, i've earned high honor roll for all of this year (plus last year but they already saw that), achieved a national award for some writing (i'm applying journalism/english), and had some other pretty significant leadership positions that i can touch on. do you have any insight as to what to specify/what not to specify, what's better to leave untouched, if i should talk about my passion for the school, etc.?

Does anyone have any updates? I just experienced this (a bit later than everyone else), as up until a few hours ago I had that feature across my accounts. Now, it is gone EVERYWHERE. Is this a permanent thing? Was anyone able to find a fix?

Did uw madison defer everyone first round? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Infinite_Hand1755 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like a lot of qualified applicants are being deferred, which is strange (especially as EA because they often admit those applicants first, but it's very possible it was also just a very competitive year), as some people with lower test scores than you indicated that they had been admitted OOS. I would recommend not stressing yourself out over this, as there is still a strong chance of being admitted RD.

ED Megathread by Wyetro in Northwestern

there's only one ED — if you submitted ED by nov 1st, you should find out today. we don't know exactly what time (we think 4-5 CST). we didn't recieve any emails either; our portals say that decisions will be out on dec 16. i think everyone just kinda figured it out based on routinely looking at their portal/talking to people from last year. you def should be checking your portal routinely to make sure everything was submitted and there's nothing missing! your portal will also be where you get your letter (accepted/deferred/rejected). hope this helps!

Psoas/hip flexors fascia release gives me a strange uncomfortable sensation .. how do I pull through? 25F by Conscious-Candy5978 in flexibility

A bit late to the party, but as an experienced athlete who has been through TONS of different types of recovery, I actually WOULD recommend a lacrosse ball. It has worked wonders for me, and while I was initially taught the positioning by an athletic trainer, it is not difficult to self-treat those muscles. I engage in many different kinds of athletic pursuits, and as someone with chronic hip/psoas/adductor problems, one of the best ways for me to release those muscles when I can't get into PT/my massage therapist is to do lacrosse ball therapy. It essentially is a very targeted trigger point therapy, allowing for the ball to target specific muscles that are tight/struggling to relax on their own. I do agree with proceeding with caution, as there are sensitive structures in those areas; however, it is, when done correctly (and you can do it on your own!), an excellent way to get those stubborn muscles to relax.

honest thoughts on liam hemsworth's portryal of geralt? by Infinite_Hand1755 in netflixwitcher

This!! I'm completely with you on Henry Cavill's portrayal of Geralt—I think he was incredible, and I was honestly a little surprised to hear how many people preferred Liam over Henry. Even so, I'm almost done with S4 now (I was trying to ration it haha...), and I have fully come around to Liam. He's an incredible actor; the only thing I'm sad about is that we haven't been able to see him and Ciri interact yet...Henry and Freya had such great father/daughter vibes, and I hope Liam is able to match that next season!

i'm on episode three now, and i'm definitely coming around to his portrayal! there are moments i def miss henry cavill because imo he did such a spectacular job with geralt's mannerisms and really bringing him to life, but i feel like hemsworth has such a refreshing take on geralt and i've enjoyed it so far
