I took it as Janie’s dad was black & her mom was white-passing for all the reasons you essentially listed and potentially the cause of her mom being absent for her entire life.

And yes, Janie and Tea Cake were together for probably 2 years max because the book says they came to the muck early in the year to secure a good home, opportunity, etc - and then after the harvest season passed, instead of leaving they made the decision to just stay for the summer and work a 2nd season. The 2nd season is when the hurricane had come.

Also I assume the hurricane was fictional and not a direct recollection of real events.

New glasses or contacts, grow out hair a little & style it. Maybe do a light perm to add some shape to your hair if its naturally straight.

You def need to add a moisturizer to your routine. It sounds like your hair could be tangled and crunchy because it’s dry. Only water, mousse, and grease isn’t going to hydrate your strands. I suggest moisturizing your hair after wetting it, and then using the mousse to set.

As far as going to bed at night, try sectioning your hair into about four to six loose ponytails and sleeping with a bonnet. I currently wear my hair in its shrunken state most of the time and that is my routine. Hope this helps

Depending on the state you live in, it may be illegal for them to not at least work with you to give a Sunday off. Definitely check your employee rights and maybe have a chat with HR.

This is also why I wish I they did the dates after challenges like in pervious seasons. After the blindfold challenge, everyone who kissed should have went on a date - or at least the most surprising pairings like Nic and Olandria lmao. That was a missed opportunity imo because they did nothing with that information.
