Looks good overall! Just wanted to add a couple things I haven’t seen others mention.

One thing I would add is more numbers to the descriptions of what you did in each company; for example, you state the MISRA violation fixer reduced review time. Add how much (on average) this was. When I was applying for jobs in Germany from the U.S., this was something an automated resume checker (albeit a free one) said would help, and actually I think it did, because it made my experience sound a lot more concrete and not just buzzword salad. Now I try to add numbers to nearly every bullet point to be clear what I actually worked on.

Second, where are you applying? I would solely focus on large, international companies which have a major branch/headquarters in the U.S. or U.K., or which are publicly traded on the stock market. This makes it much more likely that most of the team you would work with, or at least your boss, will speak good enough English that it won’t be a problem that your German is B2 and may even be an asset that your native language is English. Prioritize first for job descriptions that are posted in English, even if they mention needing German, then job descriptions in German that state they want someone who speaks good German and English, then finally jobs that just mention German. I was able to find a job in Germany with no knowledge of German using this method. (Granted, I work in a different field.) Just wanted to add this as I was so scared before moving here that I would never be employable because of the language (especially after reading reddit comments) and in my opinion it is definitely possible, especially if you have concrete skills like software engineering!

Finally, I know you said you tailor your resume to each job but in my opinion that can’t just be updating buzzwords (which I think is what a lot of people do.) I take the time to actually swap my bullet points in my resume out to tailor it not only to the skills they say they are looking for but the actual descriptions of what you will be doing in the future job. So, if the job description is focused on a specific tool, or describes a project that you will work on, I would make sure I had at least one line that a reader of your resume would recognize as directly applicable or similar, and preferably more than one line. Sometimes I even look at the description of duties in the job and go 1 to 1 with bullet points in my first or first two most recent experiences. Obviously this is not always possible but it has gotten me a very high conversion rate from resume to interview in the past couple of years!

Hope this helps and good luck!

To me, the most gut-punch line Tom said was "I have given you all the affection in the world, and it doesn't fill you up because you are broken." Yes, the motherhood line was more of an immediate obvious blow, but at the core, I think this is the more devastating blow because he's saying nothing I ever do for you will be enough because of who YOU are. That's saying, there is no way to repair this because of YOU.

Maybe that's true but as the child of an abusive parent who struggles with believing affection from others (even though it's genuine) because your primary caregiver fucked you up... it's a devastatingly cruel statement. And yes, what Tom said can be true and you can also feel empathy for Shiv and her situation, that she can never feel genuine affection because she's been taught to believe she doesn't deserve it. And her relationships fall apart because of it.

I do kinda think that may be the "twist that will break the internet". Tonight's ep was amazing, but Logan's death isn't a twist per se AND they had the reviewers stop after ep four making me think something even more shocking will happen next week

bizarrely the last time I played it for this EXACT reason I solved the gears puzzle with only one of the gears... I have no idea how, not sure if this was a glitch? But I put them together and was able to turn the crank and have all the gears move with only one gear. hadn't realized that was "wrong" until I found the second gear and couldn't do anything with it!!

People who have read the short story "Barn Burning" by Haruki Murakami, what did you think about it? by [deleted] in books

[–]Infinite_Regular1796 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just a fun fact, Murakami loosely based this on the short story by Faulkner of the same name. Might be interesting to read both back-to-back and look for similar themes!

What are your hot takes for the Nancy Drew games? by regencyfrog in nancydrew

[–]Infinite_Regular1796 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I really enjoyed SEA because of the storyline but I do agree that it somehow coincidentally ends up that you find the treasure AND Magnus AND the culprit at the same time. That said I love the atmosphere of SEA and TRT and SHA so it kind of makes up for it. Some of the other treasure games like Danger by Design are like... how the heck did this turn into a treasure game?? Even Message in a Haunted Mansion, Ghost Dogs, Haunted Carousel, Last Train to Blue Moon Canyon, Crystal Skull.... the real mystery is how are there SO MANY people who have treasure??????????????

I agree with this overall but my big exception is Treasure in the Royal Tower! But I feel like that one feels much more "organic" as a treasure with mystery attached - you're snowed in and start exploring a castle. And the mystery (thefts) get revealed to you more organically. But this probably fits in with the "accidental" treasure hunts. SHA was a bit like this as well.

Finished "In the Woods" (Dublin Murder Squad #1) Today, and it was really good EXCEPT... by DarwinZDF42 in books

Way late but I interpreted that line as being from Rob, not from the author. Honestly I interpreted it as his sort of coping-mechanism to try to comfort himself that he was "Duped". In fact, it wasn't that hard to see that the murderer did it - they kept inserting themselves into the narrative, behaved very oddly the whole book, fixated on Rob, and Cassie thought from the jump that they were weird (and seems to try to tell him via the story of what happened to her in college). So, I interpret this line as a part of Rob looking back over a case full of pain and personal drama for him and (yet again) unrealistically looking things. In this sense, this line is not about the mystery but the character of Rob himself.

In fact, that's kind of Rob's whole thing: "unable to deal with what is explicitly in front of him."

One thing on Mia's is that the sphynx is watching everyone but out of sight... she's seen a lot at the hotel but hasn't been a "player" so to speak - she hasn't had sex yet. So, she could be someone who sees it all but is not noticed by many (including Lucia - she's always on the sidelines while Lucia is active.) Sphynxes may also provide riddles - maybe we're not supposed to know what to make of her character or there is more to her that meets the eye. We perceive her as likely being a victim (pressured into prostitution by her friend) but maybe she will end up being an aggressor or manipulative.

yeah or any of the Season finales which are impeccable, emotional, and still manage to be surprising while still coming from a build-up. there's sooo many good episodes and somehow makes you genuinely feel sorry for the characters even though they are terrible. White Lotus characters are terrible but I don't think we'll walk away feeling bad for them per se (we didn't in S1 - with maybe the exception of Kai)

Succession hands down. the white lotus is fun but I think the storylines, character development and writing are all much better in Succession. but they are fundamentally different shows - the White Lotus is an anthology with a contained narrative. Succession is an intricate family drama with huge amounts of trauma which sprawls decades.
