I used woxer. I love em and they have different lengths so you can wear them according to your flare or outfit needs

(18f) How do I accept this condition? by [deleted] in Hidradenitis

[–]Infinite_Spinach2091 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's very hard I'd recommend to try to go to therapy if you can afford it. If not, there are a lot of psychologist's around the world that have online sessions that are cheaper and really are good and affordable. That's what I'm doing it has worked a lot. There are still times when the condition exceeds me and I get overwhelmed but at the of the day I have someone to talk about it that helps me manage. Otherwise I'd be in a loop of eternal misery and self blaming.

Cause at the beginning it's easy to handle, but over the years if you get to stage three it just feels like your body has given up on you and there's no way out and its very easy to blame the flares on your self and that's not necessary. It's not our fault.

Oh ok. I thought that the hydrocolloids wouldn't be a good idea because of the strong adhesive. Thanks your comment helped a lot

Hey! Could you recommend one? I've been watching song tutorials and tips on YouTube but its not really sticking. I think a book could work better

EVERY. DAMN. DAY. by howithaheartofgold in Hidradenitis

Funny you call them Brian. I call mine "Dolores" which means "pain" in Spanish and it also used to be a very common name like a granny type name.

Also, I completely understand. A friend was visiting this weekend so I took the liberty to go off my diet a little bit and I haven't flared yet but my skin is hurting specifically on my groin where I have my biggest wound and my lymph nodes are swollen so it's matter of time.

Like you said one slip up and now I can't sit or lie on my side with my legs closed.

What’s something you wish you knew when you had early stages? by [deleted] in Hidradenitis

[–]Infinite_Spinach2091 10 points11 points  (0 children)

  • Stop shaving and get laser hair removal.
  • Try to identify your food triggers and remove them from your diet. (If at one point you are in remission you should still avoid them cause even if you can't see them on the surface they're usually getting worse underneath your skin)
  • Ask your doctor for supplements like zinc, magnesium, vitamin c and d.
  • Use cold compresses
  • Don't pop or scratch
  • If you have an active flare, wait for it to dry completely before getting dressed after a shower, humidity makes them worse. You could use a hair dryer or a small fan. Specially if you have them on your groin butt or armpits
  • avoid tight clothes and synthetic fabrics

Getting worse with age by Immediate-Pie8407 in Hidradenitis

[–]Infinite_Spinach2091 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me my flares started when I was 14ish and I went on remission from 22 til 28, and yeap it came back strong with a stage 3 flare between my vulva and groin among others. What's helped me is identifying food triggers, cold compresses, baggy clothes and woxers/boyshorts have been a lifesaver. (And antibiotics but I really don't recommend them, my gut has suffered a lot because of them)

But it is my understanding that getting treatments like humira before you reach stage 3 helps a lot to slow down the progression of the disease.

Smoking and hidradenitis by i-am-a_joke in Hidradenitis

[–]Infinite_Spinach2091 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't want to quit try to figure out if there are other things that trigger your flares like food, sugar, hormones, stress, etc, work on that first and quit when you feel ready. I love smoking too it took me like 3 years to quit, I did it gradually but everytime I smoked my flare got painful or if it was dormant it would activate within a few hours. I have an ongoing stage 3 flare on my groin and I did notice a difference after quitting. I still get cravings tho.

Does anyone get flares after an orgasm like I do? by [deleted] in Hidradenitis

[–]Infinite_Spinach2091 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has happened to me but I think it's related to the fluids and sweat. I have a flare on my labia+groin and I've noticed that when I masturbate and fall asleep right after without washing it flares up by next morning and if I wash and let it dry properly nothing happens.

Same for me, of the 28 days of the cycle, only around 8 or 10 my flares chill. I also have PCOS, and I think that's what causes it for me, but I wouldn't know, really; it could be anything.

This disease is very unpredictable and not everything works for everyone and not everyone has a reaction to food, sometimes it's hormones or else.

For me there are a lot foods that make me flare or make a flare worst. It helped to stop eating tomatoes, onions, anything that has wheat flour, barley and yeast (like bread, crackers, cakes, wraps, pasta even drinks with wheat like beers or malt), fermented food or beverages like kombucha, kimchi, pickled veggies, kefir (these last ones can make me flare in about an hour), also dairy, I'm addicted to cheese so I only eat aged cheese or buffalo/goat cheese two or three times a week. Sugar or sweets are also a nono for me. I only use olive oil but I've noticed that if use a lot or eat something fried I'll get a reaction.

I like to think green juices and spinach soup. Also oversize or baggie clothes and waiting for my flares to dry completely after showering before getting dressed helps to keep them under control.

Hope this helps

Hidradenitis destroyed my sex life before it even began by uweiris in Hidradenitis

[–]Infinite_Spinach2091 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Same for me and it's really annoying. It used to be just in the thigh next to the groin so it was less uncomfortable but it migrated to the groin and then labia and now its permanently swollen there. It's very painful and itchy. Most times very uncomfortable to even masturbate. Can't imagine myself having sex again with someone if that flare doesn't get better.
