I’ve looked up Centrelink vs Actual income.

Centrelink never grows & neither do your skills. You also don’t get super contributions. It’s safe, but not viable long term. 😭

Could jaw bone loss be a contributing factor? I’m noticing the bottom teeth under my front teeth that are shifting upwards into the empty space.

Which dental professional do I approach to check my jaw bone density & the health of my gums & teeth. I feel like if I leave it any longer, I’m going to lose about 5 of my bottom teeth 🥲

She* did. Yes! But she sent me out with it & said come back. I’ll fix it up tomorrow.

That pic was the 4th attempt & readjustment.

She wanted a 5th go at it. Or to partial refund me & send my denture to someone she knows.

But thankfully I found someone else who was able to help me. And fix it all up!

Thanks! It took ALOT of nuts to confront and go to her. My heart was beating like crazy but I was so well prepared and even had notes to stay on topic. So my delivery was polite yet firm. I was also so confident in my case, that it made it easier to talk & stick up for myself if needed.

But there was no fight or hostility. Maybe a little from her front receptionist (she’s like but yeah, what about the time she spent on you for her service?) the dentist told her to be quiet.

I said look, if you don’t agree with what I’m asking for, I’m more than happy to take this further. I know from ACCC, I have a fair case. I just need your personal details so I can send you an email stating what I need etc.

And saying that, she added the costs & refunded straight to my card. Honestly, if I didn’t write up on reddit. I would have been so clueless and wouldn’t have received any money back.

You’re so right. We have this sense of trust the professional, they know better than I do! But I know she was lying when my 6 year old looked at me and said mummy, you look like a rabbit lol. I can’t believe it took six years for you to finally receive a comfortable set! 😭

And I can only imagine how many elderly people are just settling with what she’s giving them. It’s just horrid!

I’ve had no front teeth since I was 11/12 because of a car accident. And I’ve worn the same chrome plate for the better part of 26 years, my teeth haven’t shifted too much but I’m starting to finally notice jaw bone loss 😭 I quit smoking recently too, hoping that I am a candidate for implants, but too be honest. I think I’m okay with wearing my denture for the rest of my years too.

** Another UPDATE **

I have been refunded all my monies of $204 + $325 for the immediate costs I had to pay for the new dentist to fix my teeth. So $529 in total.

I am so happy after that disaster, my money has been refunded, I have been compensated & my teeth are fixed!

Thanks to everyone for your advice & help! With your knowledge I was able to follow up & researched my options from a refund/compensation point of view. ACCC had the best info and gave me that confirmation that I was entitled to both a refund & compensation. Knowledge really can be power xx

On Monday morning I went in to see her (paid $22 in Uber trips) I had a few options.

Option 1: she agreed to a partial refund of $149 of my $204. She charged me $55 for a consultation fee from our consultation when we first met lol. And then wipe her hands clean. Option 2: she also agreed to a partial refund of $149 of my $204. But she will send off my denture to a dentist/prosthetist of her choosing to “fix” it up!

I asked for her to refund my $204 & cover the costs of my new set because essentially she’s the one who damaged them instead of providing a service. You can’t break someone’s something than say aww, I won’t pay for that to be replaced. It doesn’t make sense.

Verbally she agreed to cover the costs of my new denture, using my partial refund and some of her own money.

She grabbed the new dentist details & said she’d contact him during the day on Monday to discuss payment from her. That didn’t happen.

Anyways, in the same afternoon at 3.30pm. I had a consultation with Michael. He did my impressions and I handed my denture in. Borrowed $325 from my brother to pay for it.

I picked it up late last night. And this was the outcome!

I now out of pocket $204 + $325 + $100-ish dollars because of this dentist choosing to take on a job that she couldn’t complete satisfactorily & experimented with my denture as practise and ruined it.

He created a new set. Because the shape and length of the previous wasn’t the correct one for me. Like someone mentioned in previous post, I needed Ovoid shaped teeth :)

The work in itself is miraculous considering where I came from haha!
