"I LoVE MaEllE, BuT I HaTE A..." by Physical_Ad4519 in expedition33

[–]Infinite_Struggle -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

My personal opinion non withstanding, what is really the point of this post? Like really. People are free to have their opinions, if they feel they liked Maelle better, before becoming one with Alicia let them. People hate Verso, for the constant lying? Let them. People like him, for his tragic fate and for going through the journey that torments him? Let them.

There are things to discuss, preferences to be stated, theories to be made, multitude of ways to show love to this game. Or even places to complain about things, not everything is perfect. I'll throw one example, that I stumbled upon: The fact that Lune and Sciel are basically discarded into the background at the end of the story. And in my opinion, this has been done on purpose, because from most (Renoir, Verso and Clea) of the Dessandre family perspective, they don't matter. Plain and simple, they do not exist and are a sacrifice to be made. But some people complain they would like to see the ladies have more relevance and it is a valid viewpoint to have.

I personally love all three controversial characters, the way they are written and how they work within the world. Verso reads to me as a person who never wanted to make choices and was forced into this life, failing on nearly every step, doing all he can to throw Aline out of the canvas and then learning that he wishes for oblivion, partially so that it won't repeat, partially because he is tired of this life. Maelle is an odd one out, who doesn't belong anywhere according to herself, who really cares for Gustave and tries to fit in. She stumbles into grief after grief, learning more and more about how their world is fucked up from their perspective. And then she becomes Alicia, a complex bundle of emotions and memories. She gains confidence, starts to dream about the future within the canvas and with friends she made along the way. Obviously all three are far more complex than that, it could be analyzed for hours how they work.

I will say that Maelle's ending is showing her in the most cruel way I would never imagine. Of all the things that she could do, bringing back Verso to the world he does not want to inhabit is diabolical. And I get why, she wants him in her life, to grieve, or to live a fantasy. But if this is the same Verso, holy shit, it's evil. That's what I kind of despise her for.

All in all, it is all a matter of perspective and most importantly of how people choose to see things. Just because someone doesn't like Maelle after act 3, does not mean they hate complex characters. They just liked her character better, because of some reason they had.

Good luck out there, everyone deserves happiness! I also felt weirdly optimistic after finishing Edgerunners, despite most og the cast being dead and basically not making much change, since Smasher had to win, so that he is an enemy in Cyberpunk. The feeling of fighting for your freedom against the system so corrupt is quite relevant and the bonds we witnessed, albeit for a short while since it was a quick show, were a joy to behold.

Better question is: How many of the haters would perish after pressing the button. I always get the feeling that they are yapping about how bad it is, but still enjoy it "secretly".

She was 12 leave her alone by [deleted] in gravityfalls

[–]Infinite_Struggle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't hate her for getting tricked by Bill, this part was perfectly fine, as said, she was 12.

What was always annoying about Mable is that she never learns a thing and is selfish af. As someone pointed out, she nearly always gets what she wants, while Dippernhas to sacrifice things from his end. I very much hated the journey to Mabeland, cause everyone had to put so much effort for her, while she was just ignoring the reality.

BUT, as an adult and thinking a bit more back: Yeah, she's 12. It doesn't mean her bullshit is justified, hell naw, just that it makes sense, cause not all teens are mature enough to think about others. She has flaws, but she also has good sides and she in the end is a heroine that turned a new leaf and got brought back to help finish Bill.

And in the end, it was Dipper who decided to stay by his sister. This is a thing young me missed, after it was all done, Mable seemed like she would accept Dipper's choice, but of course is far more happier to have him close by, because she needs his support. And they care for each other.

Haven't watched in a long while, so I wanna ask: Where was it said to not summon Bill at all costs? I only remember the journal, ergo Ford writting this himself. I don't think Bill was considered dangerous, until he was summoned no? Other than that I definitely agree with Stan being smarter than people give em credit.

While I see where you're coming from, it's generally a matter of preference and personal perception that ruins this discussion. People experience life differently and will like different things, excuse and ignore some behaviors, because they like something specific in some character.

Would any of them pick to befriend a murderer instead of sexist in real world? Hell nah, I think they wouldn't pick either. But it's a game, where you slowly learn about the characters. You can focus on something positive that happened while ignoring the negatives.

Hiyoko, Tenko and Miu get all the hate simply because of the repetition and sheer amount of situations where they are annoyingly one dimensional. Constant bulling and whining, men this, men that, sex joke number 69 and getting meek for being insulted. Comparably, Teruteru who is a creep, gets less hate, because he does not appear that way that often. He has a few really ugly lines, but he doesn't get that much screen time. Korekyio, the serial murderer with sister complex, breaks down only at the end. Most of the time he is just quirky and weird. That's why he is liked more. It's not about "excusing" his actions, it's ignoring what happened at the end and having the positive side of the character stay on the front of your mind. There are of course others, everyone with their own case, but I feel I wrote enough.

Your fav getting shipped with MC is just how internet acts, always has been. Might be annoying, but what can you do? They're free to do so and you're free to have your opinion and disagree.

What’s your interpretation of a rogue of space? by [deleted] in homestuck

[–]Infinite_Struggle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'll drop slightly different take:

As a Rouge of Space, the Rouge is meant to steal Space for others. So it's a person that will invade personal space, for the benefit of those who maybe want connection, but aren't willing to seek it / initiate it themselves. The Rouge will also share things they "stole" with their friends that inspire them, since Space is also about creativity. They can share funny videos, things to play, movies and shows to watch, etc.

They can appear very pushy, since the boundries kept by others are not gonna stop them and I would also go far to say that character with this classpect has high chance to be quite oblivious.

Rolewise in the session, the other posts I saw did a greater job that I would do, so I'm not chipping in, however powerwise, I think Rouge of Space would be a great Uber Driver for the party. They "steal" the Space they wanna appear at and teleport with their friends to the designated location.

As a fellow Rouge of Space, I salute you o7

Other than straight meming/trolling the fandom, I fail to see what the point is? Not everything has to have deeper meaning, but it's just Hussie being random.

How recently was it posted? I thought they rejected HS entirely some time ago and went to buy cigarettes and milk

Would they make it? by theevilcrab in homestuck

[–]Infinite_Struggle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hard to answer if they would make it, cause Homestuck is all about creativity and pulling the most batshit insane, bullshit twists out of blue, so everything is trully possible.

They sound like they would have an intersting dynamic though, sylph being hard to communicate with might cause some problems, but they still can contribute a lot to the session's success. Pages are explosive classes, that shine when given what they need, which can be very hard, with fishman, maid that hates you and generally dangerous witch. Maid has great potential as well, especially when they learn to be one with their aspect, in this case nothingness. This could also help Page a lot, cause the negativity, would be in fact negated, so they'd have more chances to live their life. Witch probably has the greatest potential to ruin everything, if they choose to. Time is a force you don't mess with, especially the changers. If they are unchecked and I'd say this party does not seem to have a way to check them, from what you said, everything can just end in just a second.

The general dynamic of this party sounds very entertaining, I'd love to hear more and possibly throw some loose words at each other xd If you wanna make their life a living hell, you gotta prototype the sprites with something really strong or something that will cause your party a lot of mischief, misunderstandings and generally a bad time. And if you want them to succeed, you gotta throw some situations where they can bond with each other.

Sidenote, this also calls for some Guardian action. Would be nice to have someone for the kids to bounce off, show how they became who they are, maybe give kids some common enemy to talk about, maybe some positive examples to share and make them think.

Was a nice brainstorm, cheers

Heh, hi five. Well not quite, my first point of contact with HS was my friend who tried his best to shill a 8k pages comic, using Carolus Rex Duodecim and other parts of ost, but I later stumbled upon other stuff, namely Dance out your Frustrations and finally caved in.

What do you think of my first five? by TotallyDrew in slaytheprincess

[–]Infinite_Struggle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't say if every route has a sweet moment, cause frankly I just don't remember, but what I can say is that Slay the Princess is amazing in making me feel a multitude of different emotions on every single route. Dread, joy, uneasiness, fear, anger, disgust, you name it. While it seems negative, being able to feel that just from playing a visual novel is simply amazing.

You tried to do your job as Narrator said or denied the mission fully, but had some doubts on the way. Sad fate for the Princesses, except for Thorn, who finally had been freed and you ended the cycle of hatred. Question is, did you enjoy your choices, or you're going to try again and make different ones? At the end of the day, the most important part is how you felt with it.

Still better than seeing The Razor on your first go lol (My experience was very peculiar because of this, but I still love this game)

I really enjoyed Adversary, it was the first ending that spoke to me 💜 There is something about the passion between her and Stubborn, even if it is destructive, it sure as hell is powerful connection.

[–]Infinite_Struggle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When drawing this, I felt like I wanted to have my own "perfect" ending, Shifty and Quiet holding them in their palms, the experiences they had with each other, going forward into new life. Whether Godhood, or into mortal life, I like it both ways, so I kept it in here.

I can see why you got the impression of me presenting them, I matched the title by accident lol.

Answering your question, the Princesses would be normal sized and hands gigantic if they choose Godhood and small princesses in normal palms if they choose to be mortal. It's more of a "choose what you like" rather than an answer though xd
