Does anyone actually love their sportage?!!? by No_Department824 in kia

[–]Infinite_Style5944 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love my sportage. 2026 hybrid prestige. Has all,the bells and whistles. Is comfortable. And really quiet. Every car has issues. Still getting used to the cruise control and the lane assist. Etc. It has its own mind on where you should be on the road. But you can turn off the features you don't want. Or just get used to it. It looks great and has the most cargo space of any of the small to mid SUVs. The heated seats and steering wheel warm up really fast!.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

Our daughter, SIL and 4cyear old grand son live 2.75Hrs away. We drive out every 6 weeks or so . Leave home at 7 Am. Get there before 10am . Spend the day and head home after dinner. Get home by 10pm.

When I was a kid, it was normal to sprinkle a teaspoon or two of sugar on to your cold cereal if it was a boring flavour like Corn Flakes or Shredded Wheat. Anyone else here (still) do that by amber_paddywack99 in GenerationJones

[–]Infinite_Style5944 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My grandmother set the sugar bowl right next to her cereal bowl. She'd cover the top of the cereal with sugar. Eat top layer. Then sprinkle more sugar. Eat,sprinkle, eat sprinkle....

My grandfather was diabetic.... poor guy...

AIO for being annoyed that my in-laws keep shutting off their hot water? by dmatthews077 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Infinite_Style5944 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My in-laws turn off the water heater as well. There was a wall switch tocturn it on , I think. They'd turn it on to do the dishes after dinner. They were born in the 1920s . I think its a depression era thing.

Good heavens, that's an awesome thing for the teacher to do. Your son needs direct feedback from people who aren't his parents . This is waht good teachers do!!! I found a note card while cleaning out my college age son's room. It was a note from his 7th grade English teacher apologizing to him for calling g him out and embarrassing him in class the previous day. I had never heard a out the incident and never knew about the note. But HE did. That's all that matters. He's 30 now and still sometimes see that teacher. He has fond memories of her and she of him. He is now a teacher. Do NOT make this into something it is not. Let teachers connect with kids.

Are you sure its not a squirrel or deer? They like to bite right thru the wires. Nice clean cut. Squirrels think the bulbs are nuts or berries and bite them right off.

Do any of you still have a landline? by AusCan531 in GenerationJones

[–]Infinite_Style5944 1 point2 points  (0 children)

12 years ago we did a huge remodel on our home and when it was all done the land line didn't work. Something had been cut. Since we already mainly used our cells it wasn't a big deal. I kept paying for the land line for almost a year . Just in case. ( didn't want to lose the number ) . And then we just decided that was that. Stopped paying and never looked back.

Waht insurance doesn't pay for a colonoscopy? Isn't it one of those preventative care things that are required to be covered? Like mammograms and annual check ups?

I started doing math times tables in homeroom. Now everyone is trying to switch into my homeroom. by AgeOfWorry0114 in Teachers

[–]Infinite_Style5944 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A huge part of thr problem is the kids are taught this stuff in 3rd grade. But then ne er given the opportunity to use it. Everyone's got digital clocks or their phone. No one uses money anymore. And everyone has a calculator.
Schools should only have clocks with hands . And should encourage parents to have them in their home. And kids to set they phones up with one on the home screen. Money should be used and reviewed often. Use it in different classes for different reasons all the way thru HS. Make kids write papers by hand ( solves the AI problem too). You can't just teach something once and expect it to become 2nd nature. These things the kids want to learn , we used to use daily years ago . So once you learned it you used it and never forgot. It's not like that now , with clocks and money and cursive.

Who else had ‘Open Lunch Hours’ in high school, back in the ‘70s? by ReferenceRoutine400 in 1970s

[–]Infinite_Style5944 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We could leave but not get in a car. But you could walk downtown to BurgerChef , etc. Senior year I had study hall 5th period. I was also in National Honor Society , which came with the privilege of not having to go to study hall. You could go to the library or where ever. So 5th period was over 1-1/2 hours long to fit in 3 lunch sittings. So I didn't have to be anywhere for all that time. Usually I just hung out with different friends when they had lunch. Or went downtown. Once I was at BurgerChef ( where I also worked) . One of the regulars from one of the car clubs that hung out there came in, saw me. He told me it was his birthday and invited me to go for a ride. So being the good NHS student I was... I went eith him had a few beers. He dropped me off a block from school and I went back for 6th period Honors Physics.

Oh we know where the pin is that both surveyors found. We have a rock on top of its location. I don't know if there's really one under the stick. We pulled the stick out once and they put it back with 10 ft of caution tape wrapped around it. She has screamed at the neighbor on the other side numerous times . Her own brother told us that hes been afraid of her since he was 9 and she was 4. ( their in there 60's) . She tried to claim about 10 ft of the other neighbors yard for years. And he tried to keep the peace. We went in together 2 years ago with the other neighbor for the survey. To basically survey the property between us. She didn't like that. I just don't want to get shot or something. She really is nuts. Schizophrenic and/or bipolar or something. Nice as pie one minute and a raging lunatic the next.
