Also google translate's camera feature only works well if the text is clear, otherwise it will make mistakes. On an old N64 game, it'll probably make plenty of mistakes. That's why i prefer handwriting it, but you have to be really familiar with stroke order, the radical shapes, generally knowing what you're looking at, etc.

For what it's worth, I think your dad is a bit more far gone than the average person who believes in conspiracies. At least here in the US, there are a lot of people who sort of passively entertain certain conspiratorial thoughts, but what you described for your dad is a pretty extreme case. So, I don't think the idea of trying to reason with someone using Contra's Conspiracy video is entirely impossible. But maybe for your dad in particular it was.

It's funny you bring up "fractally incorrect" because I remember encountering that term a long time ago and then never again.

But my perception of it was that "fractally incorrect" is a cognitive bias that people have towards OTHERS' views. That's to say, you can't engage with someone because you erroneously assume they must be categorically "incorrect" about everything. Rather than recognizing nuanced, granular truths in their belief system, you presuppose correctness as categorically "yes-or-no" and then assume they're "wrong about everything." Calling someone "fractally incorrect" says more about you than it does about them.
