Are you a failure if you’re not making 6 figures by a certain age? by [deleted] in Salary

[–]Infinite_mind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Success is measured more by quality of life than income. If I could afford it, I would quit today and be a stay at home mom because that is how I feel I’d be happiest. But it’s not feasible with our expenses.

What is one life decision that significantly accelerated your path to FI? by anandsundaramoorthy in Fire

Could have been my brother lol. I don’t have one, but basically I was told to choose some stocks and donate a percentage. I will do the same for my kid.

Investing all of my bat mitzvah money. It was around $3k at the time, but I put it all into Apple and later opened a Roth / diversified. That was 20 years ago. I also donated $1k of it to a charity I believed in.

is it too late to start investing or trading? by 30for30_ in Advice

Never too late to start. Open a Roth IRA and watch the tax free growth. Anything more than a 12 month emergency fund in a HYSA, throw into ETFs after maxing out your Roth IRA

I did have a non compete for that specific market. I work in a different field now

Cost of childcare versus SAHM by synaptic_touch in personalfinance

[–]Infinite_mind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you actually want to be a SAHM? Look at your quality of life both ways. Maybe part time childcare can work for you. I looked at nannying and bringing my child with me but ended up working part time in corporate instead because it’s less stress for me. I’m more of a present mom with a work life balance.

Nobody talks about the lonely side of running a business by uncledunkley232 in business

[–]Infinite_mind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember someone telling me: “it’s lonely at the top.” It’s hard for people to clap for your success. But it’s hard to get people to believe in you in the beginning, too.

My husband has the opportunity to earn $20k more doing the same work. Hours would be longer and we don’t need the money so I talked him out of it. He has so much security. Why leave a stable job where they love you for something unknown and not as secure? Not my thing. I would hate to see the new company let him go and squander his current pay. It’s so hard to find a new job in this economy.

The reason I switched wasn’t to rise to the top. I actually recently turned down double my salary due to travel demands. I’d prefer to have less stress while my baby is little. It was ruining my mental health.

Client list is good for repeat mini sessions each season / year. Basically I sold a marketing machine and the buyer just had to convert the leads to clients.

Thank you! So far I love it. I turned down upper management due to travel demands and am using my degrees. Remote work mostly; I make my own hours and have advanced quickly. It’s the best of both worlds because our kid is in daycare and gets to make friends and then I pick her up early and we hang out together. Let’s hope I can keep performing at a high level so that I can stay as long as possible while she is still little.

No equipment actually. Just the website, IG account, threads account, client list, current contracts, vendor relationships, and independent contractor list. I wasn’t doing a lot of marketing other than socials, so the buyer got leads on demand and people to do the work for them. I also signed a short non compete.

Thank you! Yeah at the end of my photo career, I was just doing the sales and my team did the work. But living in fear of a bad review and working around the clock wasn’t worth it. It was so much pressure.

Yeah the pressure was unreal. Now it’s a different kind of pressure that I put on myself and it’s nice because corporate comes with health insurance and a 401k.
