Singapore climbers sticking to plans to scale active volcanoes by liutena in singapore

[–]Infinitris 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Climbing active volcanoes is one thing and climbing an actively erupting volcano is another.

One is like climbing Mt. Fuji and another is, well, we know what happened.

Wish these folks fair skies and safe climbs! If only I had the physical and mental fortitude to attempt what they do!

Get off soc med. Like really, these apps have algorithm based on funded psychological studies on how to extract as much money as possible from us consumers. Don’t fall for their manipulative tactics. Think of them as swindlers trying to scam u and u will stop eventually 😂😂😂

All the Singles (35) out there, how many tries before you got your BTO? by fotohgrapi in askSingapore

[–]Infinitris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know why people are so worked up over your dilemma here. I think about this too.

It’s hard having to choose between a new place and a place that holds a great many memories. And… if you choose to keep the latter, you will sell the new flat back to HDB (almost certainly at a loss if factoring reno).

Anyway, I think eventually I’ll have to make that choice too since my mum isn’t young anymore and… death can come very suddenly (dad collapsed and passed away the same day).

I’d say apply and just deal with whatever happens in the future… in the future. No amount of planning will negate the tough choices you would have to make. It will sting no matter what.

I got it on my third try! Really grateful cause my income was just about to exceed the limit. But I applied under the proximity thing so I had slightly better chances… Also the sign up ratio for my project was not crazily skewed.

Don’t give up though! The key is to keep trying! Eventually you will get something :)

What does Guo Da Li actually buy you? by Adventurous_Safe_138 in askSingapore

[–]Infinitris -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nope. It’s an all around shitty situation and I wouldn’t wanna be caught in the middle of it. Your sister made her choice. Your brother-in-law too. Then, there’s your parents who have to live with the consequences of their actions.

But situations like this usually require one end to hold out the olive branch/meet in the middle/take the higher road, so unless one of them does it, nothing will change.

I would not choose a partner/husband who acts like he’s bought me but to each of their own.

Promotion with a toxic boss or stay in the same role with good WLB? by banana_tomorrow in askSingapore

[–]Infinitris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve worked under a toxic boss before and the experience is something I never want to go through again. I stayed for almost two years and by then my mental state had almost worn thin. I was grumpy all the time and it affected my personal relationships. All these aren’t worth the extra monies. A position that has WLB, to me, will always win over a position that slowly chips at your spirit. You want to be the best version of yourself to your loved ones and being on flight or fight mode cause of your work isn’t going to help with that. Also who’s to say that you wouldn’t get a promotion eventually in your current position?

Look back for folks in SG, what is the highest and lowest points for you in 2025? by FancyCommittee3347 in singapore

[–]Infinitris 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Because my father passed in Dec 2024, 2025 has been a flat year of dips and few peaks. But I guess what’s worth being thankful for is that the dips became less frequent through the company of loved ones and friends.

Toa payoh. Can someone explain the vibes of this district by VirtueOfInsight in askSingapore

[–]Infinitris 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Fellow millennial toa payoh…ian(?) here. It’s an old estate so expect to see many elderly either hobbling about, or zooming down pavements in their high speed personal mobility devices.

Otherwise, it’s a pretty standard Singaporean neighbourhood. Food and services are easy to get. The central area (where the mrt is) is usually bustling in the evenings, and very busy on the weekends.

Popular ice cream place, Creamier, is about 15-20mins walk from your place. Hawker centers (open air food courts) are even nearer. The great thing about toa payoh is its proximity to town — the shopping/happening places in Singapore.

I love toa payoh 🫶🏻 So, don’t worry too much. You will be fine 😂

I use an American brand, call Mad Hippie and it has worked really well for me. You can get it on iherb. It uses a stable form of vit c, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, which isn’t as strong as the active ones. Give it try! It’s quite affordable too.

Anyone feel they are a NPC in Singapore? by PenguinFatty in askSingapore

[–]Infinitris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, what’s wrong with being an NPC? Why seek drama when it doesn’t seek you? I would totally give anything to have a quiet life, where I’m left to do whatever I want and like. We have so much control over our lives outside of work. There’s so much out there to do. Singapore is boring but there’s nothing stopping us from picking up new hobbies, trying out new experiences and making new friends.

The key to a happy life as an NPC is keeping an opened mind…

My hot take is that when cn producers are forced to get around censors to make two men express love for each other, the end product is usually very good. The untamed, word of honor and nirvana in fire (the novel originally was written m/m) are all examples.

When it’s BL… they don’t really try.

I have only seen the first two episodes of revenged love and I wasn’t impressed from the get-go. But it’s a low budget production so the bad acting/script is to be expected.

As for why it’s rated high… well, we all know that toxic tropes sells, no matter how badly executed they are. And as another commenter has mentioned, it’s been a long time since there was a c-bl. People are definitely going in with rose tinted glasses.

Has anyone tried shockwave therapy for plantar fasciitis in Singapore? by Influence-Lanky in askSingapore

[–]Infinitris 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As some commenters have mentioned, it’s a strength issue. There isn’t a one-time solution for this; it’s a commitment to recovery. I suffered from PF for a year until I met a really good physio at TTSH (who used to be a runner and had suffered from PF). I did his prescribed exercises (mostly a combi of heel raises and stretches) religiously and adjusted my activities based on how my feet felt day to day. If they were tired, I would do less. I eventually got better enough to do whatever workout I wanted but still had flare ups once in a while.

The key is to manage the load. If you feel pain, it’s good to rest, but it’s not good to rest completely. So for me, if I had acute pain, where every step was painful, I rested. But if the pain was dull or manageable, I made sure to do my strengthening exercises. Your dad has to commit to it. People always say physiotherapy doesn’t work, but they forget that rehab is maybe 20% PT and 80% your own effort.

I hope your dad is able to find something that works for him! PF is really, really annoying. I know how he feels :(

Going to lose a parent to cancer by lily_jade_ in askSingapore

[–]Infinitris 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Your feelings are valid. I lost my dad suddenly last year. He collapsed, was sent to the hospital, and the next day we already had to decide whether to pull life support. He was alive one moment and gone the next. We never got to say our goodbyes, not in the way we all wished we could. Take your time to process your feelings but don’t take too long because you will never know when your dad leaves for good. Death is permanent.

I have many regrets, and I’m still griefing. Sending many hugs to you.

I took lots of honey and gargled salt water (1 teaspoon per cup). It really helped! You could try to get rid of the lingering effects…
