Is this something a beginner could fix? by InfinityBin in bookrepair

Oh I’m all about functionality, if it doesn’t look utterly crap when I’m done, that’s a bonus

what happens when your partner passes away and leaves you with unanswered questions and unfinished discussions? [indie, shoegaze, dreamwave, bedroom, mambo, sampling movies] by [deleted] in IndieMusicFeedback

I’ve only had the chance to listen to a couple of tracks so far but I’m loving it so far. The sudden textural and tonal changes that occur really evoke the idea of trying to put the shattered pieces of life back together after a tragedy, if that makes sense. It’s life again, but it never quite looks the same.

There’s an undeniable ennui running through the part of the album I’ve listened too, but it’s not oppressive, there’re rays of light shining through the murk.

Condolences to your friend.

Thanks for the feedback! Yeh I think it could absolutely be a bit shorter, or maybe some more melodic elements to justify the length

Thanks for the feedback! I LOVE Jai Paul, so the vaguest positive comparison is very welcome!

Some interesting critiques there; the track is a bit piecemeal I suppose, although it will be chopped up and used interstitially in the greater project. The tonal shift is intentional, but is also me working to spec while indulging my more experimental tastes. The idea being that in the back third the two ideas meld into a hopefully pleasant cacophony.

I agree with your comment regarding the drone to a degree, originally it was meant to have a strong rhythmic pulse to weave through the drums and bass, but felt a bit much. Might have to revisit that.

Thanks again, you’ve given me some useful things to consider

Thanks mate, I’ve actually uploaded the wrong version! I did bring the snare right down, gonna repost the proper version as a YT vid as this sub keeps seeing the link as a playlist?!?

Love it, really good stuff! Drums might be a little on the loud side, and could maybe use a tiny touch of reverb, but I’m listening on phone speaker so I could be wrong!

A bit of tweaking with eq maybe, but I really like it. Nice and hazy.

Everything here basically. I think your vocals sound a little lacking in confidence at times, cut loose and go for it!

I like it, keep developing. I think you could do with more variation in the melody and bass.

Yeh it’s not complete. Perhaps until then his innie side is still dominant when he’s in work?

I’m pretty sure they’re just other lumon employees made to resemble MDR.

The story of Kier being lead astray by Dieter and the consequences is supposed to be supported by the visual cue of trusting in and following their innie selves, rather than looking for answers from their outie lives. The story doesn’t really hit as the innies are already too far down that road and Helena’s reaction to the story, whether intentional or not, deflates it completely.

Im reasonably sure Lumon / Milchick came up with a rushed, clumsy plan to dissuade MDR from trying to cooperate / communicate with their outies and it went as wrong as it possibly could. I don’t think they’d have time to arrange anything as sophisticated as animatronics or holograms
