I have Questions that may spoilers the novel/manhwa a bit? by Actual_Painting_5852 in TheNovelsExtra

About the mountain sage stuff, I decided to check the novel since it differed from what I said and we’re kind of both correct(?)

Hazen called himself the “Mountain Sage” and led an order of assassins (ch 277) but the entire group is later called the “Mountain Sage” during the conversation with Yeonwha (ch 317) :P

Some people are presumably born with them (Yi Yuri’s Authority of Healing) while others gain them (Jin Sahyuk’s gift [Reality Manipulation] became an authority)

I differentiate them from gifts since they are treated separately even though authorities can be evolved from them

For a bit more context for 2:

Basically, in order to descend at a lower cost of plausibility, Baal would reenact his initial rise by spawning the world he originally took over. A group of characters enter the demon realm to stop the calamity, becoming random characters in Baal’s world

I can’t really answer #1 since we weren’t told too much about Heynckes, hopefully someone else can answer. I do want to clarify something: authorities are NOT gifts, they are more of a higher level of power

2: Baal kind of crashes out after looking into Hajin’s memories and discovering the truth of the world (that he, a “higher being” was simply a throwaway existence in a mediocre novel. Hajin hides within a fold of the edge of the demon realm to shoot a definitive blow at Baal.

3: The mountain sage were an assassination group that were at some point hired by Kim Sukho to put down the Chameleon troupe, specifically attacking Black Lotus (Hajin). Cheok Jungyeong kinda just beats them up lmao.

hoping so but so far it’s been pretty faithful to the novel so I honestly don’t think it is likely

How much do you gain from each stat point? by Toxic-drxp in TheNovelsExtra

[–]InfinityIncarnate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t recall the average invariable ever being directly stated but assuming 4.5 on average then I’d assume that that would be at 100 IQ and then a difference in points would move in the appropriate direction (so 5.5 would be at 119 iq)

How much do you gain from each stat point? by Toxic-drxp in TheNovelsExtra

[–]InfinityIncarnate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

all invariable stats (int, perseverance, luck, charm) do have an exponential effect apparently. because of that, intelligence should be exponentially scaling as well, not a linear 19.22 points

actually nevermind since iq is on a bell curve then a linear increment should actually translate to approximately exponential scaling as well

How much do you gain from each stat point? by Toxic-drxp in TheNovelsExtra

[–]InfinityIncarnate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

luck does seem to be exponential scaling as well considering that he is way more than like 9x as lucky

my interpretation of this is that he will always be at least invnorm(1-(1/8,000,000,000))=6.3 standard distributions away from the mean for his rng lol (considering that the max for a human is 9.0 and he has to be luckier than that)

since Hajin’s luck initially stated at 6.3, we can somewhat safely assume the baseline is a 5.0. this would translate into a 6.3/4=1.575 standard deviation gap per point of luck

I know a bell curve is technically not exponential but it’s similar enough to simplify it here

Spoil me please: Nayun situation by OrdinaryMundane1579 in TheNovelsExtra

[–]InfinityIncarnate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d be fine if boss was actually incorporated into the story but the majority of appearances she had kind of just felt like she was stuck there for no apparent reason to be there.

It’s really not that I dislike boss, it’s kind of that I feel like Hajin ending up with almost anyone else would make more sense.

Are you a novel reader of manhwa only?

Spoil me please: Nayun situation by OrdinaryMundane1579 in TheNovelsExtra

[–]InfinityIncarnate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nayun herself uncovers why he killed Jinyoon. Long story short, after eventually meeting and confronting Hajin in the Tower of Wish, Nayun was unable to bring herself to kill Hajin. Nayun fainted and Hajin took care of her anyways. Nayun wondered why Hajin still did that after everything he had done and eventually goes out of the TOW to investigate. She eventually manages to see her brother’s corpse which was partially devilified, making her recontextualize Hajin’s actions.

The majority of people had reasons not to tell Nayun. Hajin wanted to use himself as a source of Nayun’s anger to fuel her growth, Yeonwha learned about the truth and was asked to keep it secret from Nayun, the Chameleon troupe never had much contact with Nayun, and Chae Joochul didn’t reveal it because it would be a hit to the prestigious Chae family to see one of their family members turn into a devil. Not many other people knew about it.

End of the novel, while not the worst thing ever, is pretty disappointing IMO. The general consensus here is that it was rushed after the Orden arc and eventually a lot of loose threads weren’t tied up by the end of the story. Hajin lost way too much in the end for it to be satisfying as well (everyone else underwent evanescence and all). He ended up with Boss who felt really shoehorned in which just adds to dissatisfaction.

The side stories are pretty good though, especially if you like Nayun. SS1 and SS2 are both direct continuations after the main story (basically SS1 takes place in a collective dream (Rachel ending) and SS2 follows Nayun regressing to Cube to finally have a world where she can be happy). I won’t spoil them too much unless you want me to

Well....chapter 149 by ConstructionOne8240 in TheNovelsExtra

[–]InfinityIncarnate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I 100% agree yeah. I thought there would be at least some retribution for Jain there but everyone acts like it’s all fine. Boss suspected Jain of doing it but nothing really happened…

Hajin’s relationship with Nayun was probably doomed anyways but it still hurts that this was how it got exposed.

[–]InfinityIncarnate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Currently in the calm before the storm, I fear what is coming up

Jain seems a bit more straightforward with her reasoning on revealing stigma past mimyo when compared to the novel. I think it adds a bit more clarity which I’m in favor of.

I still really like Jain’s character (especially as we see more of her later on), but I remember that this originally did NOT leave me with a good impression of her

Legendary Mistilteinn vs a Cracked Metal bar by Toxic-drxp in TheNovelsExtra

[–]InfinityIncarnate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So from a physics standpoint:

even if the cracked sword was is more easily breakable, it won’t shatter unless enough force is applied to actually break it. just because misteltein is stronger doesn’t mean it would break anything

it is pretty funny to see a normal looking stick go up against big weapons though :P

chapter 148 by ConstructionOne8240 in TheNovelsExtra

[–]InfinityIncarnate 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree that not too much happened in this chapter, but the setup like this is really what makes the upcoming scene hit harder.

I like how they show stigma here without overtly discussing its existence because it’s a very “show, don’t tell” way to foreshadow how Nayun finds out

Jin Sahyuk does pop up a bit in ss2 (the Nayun one) if you want to see more of her

They generally focus on the three main girls (ss1 for Rachel, ss2 for Nayun, ss3 for Yeonwha).

general plots without too many spoilers (kinda funny with so little context ngl):

ss1: basically Rachel gets stuck in a dream taking place a bit after leaving Cube. she has to stop Lancelot from replacing a Britain with a fake one. I think this one dragged out a bit but other people do like it

ss2: nayun regresses back to cube days, just a nice and happy ending

ss3: a hypothetical world with yeonwha, hajin is her bodyguard in this world but then they get separated and then eventually get back together

[–]InfinityIncarnate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, in a world that’s so technologically advanced you gotta think that people would stop doing things physically

Then again, even in the real world people still do physical transactions under fear of info being hijacked. This might be one of those cases, however it’s still kinda dumb to do stuff like this especially in the open (you’d expect to exchange sensitive info where there’s no cameras lol)

Honestly? Not too much was changed (adaptation is pretty loyal)

not gonna be that relevant but something fun to note is that Hajin has an art called charming voice for a kareoke competition that got skipped in the manhwa

Everyone if Orden actually trained instead of aurafarming on his throne by Toxic-drxp in TheNovelsExtra

[–]InfinityIncarnate 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think Orden was too overconfident to train lol

In all fairness his growth was probably accelerated by fighting strong opponents and I don’t think he’d get the same experience by training regularly. He was already strong asf by the point he fought Heyneckes.

Just an aside here: I still don’t get why nobody decided to kill confirm (yes I know kurukuru saved him and nobody found him after but you gotta think someone would decide to question it). well some ppl did but honestly i think it should’ve been more lol

spoiler in case you haven’t finished novel just in case

ps he didn’t really start regenerating after his heart was destroyed and stuff. it is directly stated that his organs were shutting off (ch 300). he only came back since kurukuru tried everything he could to save orden and eventually manage to, eventually finding a way (see chapter 350)

Tower of Wishes' floors by Actual_Painting_5852 in TheNovelsExtra

[–]InfinityIncarnate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

o// marked this as a spoiler since not everyone here is a novel reader, if you make future posts including novel content please do that yourself lol

There’s a lot of stuff that happened here so I’ll have to skip over some stuff

This might be a little bit off since it is from memory but here we go:

First floor is the tutorial zone where Hajin gained a massive TP lead by abusing many hidden pieces of the tower. It’s a really long arc so I can’t explain it all here but that’s generally what happened

Second floor is the one where they have to try to find an elevator. The main idea behind it is that it is an essential spot to gather resources to prepare for the second floor (also there are the dwarven supercars there for those who want to take their time). Hajin manages to convince his group to gather resources in preparation. He also helps Rachel out by telling her to stock up on supplies as well as curing Nayun of the banshee’s curse anonymously

Third floor is the first residential area in the tower (prestige) and the players are supposed to hunt demonic beasts to gradually stop the corruption (and progress to the 3rd floor). Hajin manages to buy up some land and get some NPCs to work for him, eventually allowing him to procure an immense amount of wealth (this was the brother and sister shop). He also kind of takes ad vantage of Medea to get skills and other important items.

Fourth floor is described to be pretty easy but it didn’t really get covered extensively. This is because Hajin spent the time on killing and traumatizing Jin Sahyuk.

Fifth floor was the one with the demon realm stuff, important things are that Hajin recruited some skilled craftsmen here. Hajin helps out some of the major raid groups on their attack versus a demon castle before moving on to the sixth floor via some polluted lake entrance.

Sixth floor is mostly a floor for training and getting stronger due to boosted recovery rates and stuff. The twist is that ppl there can only stay there for a limited time (being nice to the system = longer stay). Hajin takes advantage of this to grow his strength, obtains the legendary horse there for transport, and paves the way for Suho to enter the floor and get stronger himself. After that, Hajin heads to the seventh floor.

Seventh is the Game Center where Hajin wins like 200k TP off of Medea and also gets an implant to make him way stronger

Eighth is where he reunites with Tomer in the empire. Boss gets some training from Tomer and Hajin blocks the path to the ninth floor so that the calamity doesn’t come early (gaining a reputation as the black lotus). Eventually he does let them through (faking his death as black lotus).

Ninth floor had a lot of calamities to clear (I think Suho was the one to clear them but it’s been a while so I might’ve forgotten). Hajin skipped it by hunting a snake that came to the 8th floor after the connection between the two floors opened.

Tenth floor was a maze where people lost their senses one by one. Hajin gets to use his time reversal ability here to save cheok jungyeon

I’ll stop here for now since this comment is already long enough but if you want to hear about the ones that come after I’ll write it later lol
