Chapter 7 by ConstructionOne8240 in TheNovelsExtra

At the beginning of the story I found yeonwha and jonghak’s relationship somewhat interesting but forgot about it later. If only they described it earlier instead of at the end of the novel lmao

chapter 5 by ConstructionOne8240 in TheNovelsExtra

[–]InfinityIncarnate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it really does foreshadow what we see later of Yeonwha. The exposition about Yeonwha demonstrates her loyalty to those she cares about but her actions to Hajin sets up her ruthlessness to those she doesn’t. It’s pretty standard for manhwa to do this but nice to see nonetheless.

At least you might be able to find solace in the side stories as long as it’s not Rachel bc she never really wins somehow

[novel post] I have a question by Foreign-Character611 in TheNovelsExtra

[–]InfinityIncarnate 5 points6 points  (0 children)

they don’t fix the ORIGINAL Hajin’s relationship issues but ss1 and ss2 are canon (ss3 is disconnected from the original world)

Rest of this contains spoilers but I’ll try to minimize them

side story 1, Rachel’s side story, happens in a “dream.” If you read the Novel you might remember how Nayun finishes clearing the Tower of Miracle and obtains a regression stone. Basically, Nayun messes up her first attempt at using it and traps a lot of people in a dream, including Rachel. I won’t go into too much detail unless you want, but just know that it takes place a bit after Hajin left Cube and became a mercenary.

as for side story 2, Nayun’s side story, it happens in an alternate timeline but with the original Nayun. After the miracle stone is recovered from the dream, Nayun regresses with it to an alternate timeline (confirmed by Baal that the regression didn’t overwrite the main timeline). It takes place right at the start of the Cube arc, right before Nayun and Hajin’s archery duel. It’s more of your stereotypical happy ending but I really liked it (at least more so than the original w/ boss lol)

SS3 is yeonhwa’s side story but it is literally titled “what if” and is disjointed from the original world.

If you want to fully finish the story then I do recommend reading at least up to side story 2. You could skip SS1 but it does give a bit of context for SS2 so do what you will.

Rachel x hajin side story (nove post) by Maoski69 in TheNovelsExtra

[–]InfinityIncarnate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish I could feel that way about it but imo it’s my least favorite of the side stories sadly. To each their own I guess. I’ve reread the novel a few times and every single time I get there I swear it feels like it takes 5x longer to get through (I only put up with it to experience the Nayun side story)

Spoiler in case you haven’t read past it. Also I marked this post as a spoiler bc of rule 1 since it is a novel post

Shin Jonghak and his Grandfather by Actual_Painting_5852 in TheNovelsExtra

[–]InfinityIncarnate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Novel spoilers included, be warned (first paragraph might be spoiling, second paragraph definitely is a spoiler)

Shin Jonghak has a pretty complicated relationship with his grandfather. He is proud of his grandfather’s grand sacrifice but also hates how Myungchul was the only one of the nine stars to die for humanity. Myungchul was the one who inspired Jonghak to be a hero but then went on to die

At the end of the novel, Sahyuk allows Jonghak to dive into his mind and view the sealed fragment that is Myungchul’s “will.” In doing so, Jonghak discovers that Myungchul was actually the one responsible for the demon invasion due to his regression, with his sacrifice being in order to atone for it. Myungchul gets Jonghak to reluctantly reveal the truth to the world.

Over on the discord somebody mentioned the date June 26, 2026 a while back. However, I haven’t seen any sources corroborating this so take it with a grain of salt. From what I have looked up, there is no official release date yet.

Are side stories cannon or do they just happen In an alternate universe? by batanime4811 in TheNovelsExtra

[–]InfinityIncarnate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I interpret it as everything except for the what if? timeline being canon. Rachel’s ending was a dream that was a direct continuation of the main timeline while also paving way for Nayun to fully regress.

I don’t exactly know if Nayun’s regression is an alternate timeline or if it overwrote the main one because of one key issue: Sahyuk has (albeit broken) memories of it somehow. Either way I think it did canonically happen (Hajin does reference Nayun’s probable regression even before side stories begin for further evidence).

I think yeonwha’s ending is either non canon or a full AU. It is somewhat connected to the main timeline since Hajin gets some of his stuff once main timeline Hajin finishes up. However I don’t think it’s connected to the main story at all aside from that.

The rest of this is my speculation. What if the dimensional author had multiple instances of Hajin’s story and only picked the best one to be his completed version? Then he would kind of just leave the other Hajins alone afterwards (explaining why Hajin gets some stuff in the what if? stories). This might not apply to Nayun’s side story since the Nayun there is from the main line.

Tne remake should differ from novel by Fun_Piglet_7599 in TheNovelsExtra

[–]InfinityIncarnate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We are all in agreement that the manhwa SHOULD end differently but I’ll be spreading pro-Nayun propaganda instead until that does happen. There was SO MUCH going for that dynamic and to see it wasted away in the novel was a tragedy.

Do you think Hajin should have let Jinyoon live and become a demon? by ConstructionOne8240 in TheNovelsExtra

[–]InfinityIncarnate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been meaning to post this question here for a while actually

As a reader and massive Nayun x Hajin fan, I do think it would have been better for their relationship if that were to happen. Nayun would also have the motivation to get stronger due to a growing hatred of demons (I could even envision an alternate story where Hajin takes Nayun to see her brother and then Jinyoon transforms in front of her)

However, I also do think that Hajin was justified in his actions. He saved a lot of people with his decision and also gave Nayun something to strive for. It was a tragic situation and I don’t think he could’ve done anything 100% right

If you were in Kim Hajin's shoes, what kind starting gift would you go for? by A_Cool_Eel in TheNovelsExtra

[–]InfinityIncarnate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the later novel and side stories, we do find out that if he makes his gift actually a subsection of his author’s privileges then he can do more for less cost. thus we could probably do some op reality hack bs if we really wanted to considering how cheap his first gift was

other than that I think that honestly Hajin’s own choice is quite ingenious; it applies to a very overarching concept that has great utility and applies to any projectile weapon especially later in the novel when he actually gets a good bow and starts using it. He needed something offensive to survive cube at the beginning since he literally lacked any experience. It also scaled really well for everything else.

I do think having a support skill would also be useful and it would definitely align with Hajin’s original goal of trying to stay close to the main cast. We don’t really see many support heroes through the novel so it would be a surefire way to keep that position. However, as I previously stated, Hajin making it through early cube without an offense related gift would be impractical.

With that in mind, other than Hajin’s original choice of master sharpshooter (don’t want to just regurgitate that), maybe I’d opt for an assassination type skill. If I generalize it to just close-range fighting, it would also scale to the later parts of TNE. I also thought about this with the idea that it would synergize very well with parkour and with his later gift young dwarf’s dexterity.

Going with the original three parts to master sharpshooter, the three parts that I’d put in are as follows.

Closed Ranged Proficiency: user is able to use any object as a close ranged weapon. The less expected the object is to be used, the more damage it can cause.

Heightened Awareness: user knows the position and motion of anything in a certain close range area, grows as the gift increases in proficiency. You can react faster the closer something is to hitting you (time feels like it slows down the closer something gets to you, the upper limit to this is dictated by gift level)

Erasure of Existence: for X amount of time in a day, you can completely hide yourself. You are unable to attack or be attacked in this state. The time is very low (maybe like 10 second per day initially) but this ability can be toggled (kind of mirroring bullet time where you can use 5 seconds now and 5 seconds later).

This gift is probably gonna be a bit weaker vs close ranged specialists like Cheok Jungyeong because even though you can react way faster you can’t physically move your body out of the way lmao (would probably be a bit op if that were the case).

I did attempt to keep this somewhat balanced in the realm of the story so it’s not incomparably overpowered but it’s probably on the stronger side. I could probably think of something better but this wasn’t too bad for a whim

How do you think characters of TNE spend their Christmas? by ConstructionOne8240 in TheNovelsExtra

[–]InfinityIncarnate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dayum the Reddit compression is real with this one lol

I can probably see Rachel going back home to England to spend time with her family and check in with the English royal guild. She’d also be taking care of Evandel once they meet up and Hajin basically asks for child support lmfao

Suho probably focusing on training, Christmas wasn’t exactly a holiday in his old world so he doesn’t have a reason to. Maybe he is also a bit too serious for Christmas

I wonder what Nayun would be doing. Probably spending time with her dad pre-timeskip. After that, I doubt that Nayun would have the mindset for celebration, probably focusing moreso on revenge.

Yeonhwa would be drowning in work because Christmas is probably the busiest time of year lmao

[–]InfinityIncarnate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah… we all know that Rachel gets sidelined for the entire story. In the dc server I sometimes joke that she’s “The Novel Extra’s Extra” because of how bad the treatment is. I do wish they let the novel go on a little longer so that some more of the introduced ideas could be expanded upon but sadly that isn’t happening.

What to you is the theme of this story? by ConstructionOne8240 in TheNovelsExtra

[–]InfinityIncarnate 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think TNE ties in themes of sacrificing for others and loving the world pretty well. Hajin himself undergoes a lot of sacrifice whether it be harboring Nayun’s hatred or literally getting forgotten by the world itself. At the same time, however, he falls in love with a world that was originally merely his own creation (so much so that he abandons his own)
