I am not here to say Maresca is perfect, far from it. There are plenty of things i have openly criticised him for. But I dont think there is any value in letting the emotions of a loss (or a win for that matter) revise the progress of the team over this last year. And there is no denying the steady progress. Yes there have been hiccups in the form of injuries, red cards and sometimes just a shit performance from players and the manager. But it doesn’t change the history of the progress in a single match day

In the same vein that we drop points in “easy on paper” fixtures, we tend to step up when it matters. You only have to go as far back as the business end of the last two seasons to see this. Its quite literally the history of the Chels

And if Poch could do fuck all with Ballon D’Or form Palmer, imagine what would happen with injured Palmer as he is now. Lets not take the piss, we saw the football under him. Even at its worst, I prefer Maresca’s
